Pistol whip is great fun. One of my favourite VR games. While I think something like Beat Saber is probably better purely as a rythm game, I think just the whole combination of fun music, vibrant levels and satisfying gun mechanics is why I see myself playing this much more often than any other rythm game. Definitely a good work out too. It's worth it even for the full price but if you get it during a sale, it's a no-brainer imo.

I really want to give this a great review. When it works, it's an absolute blast. However, it doesn't work often. I have been trying to ditch Windows and most of my other VR games run fine on Linux, but this game runs at an absolutely terrible framerate and causes insane jittering and frame pacing issues that render it completely unplayable. I tried multiple configurations - Plasma Wayland, LXQT X11, changing video settings, changing Proton versions, nothing worked to make this experience usable. MangoHud said the game basically hit 30FPS and would not go any higher and it threw off the reprojection algorithms in SteamVR. For reference I'm playing this on a Valve Steam Machine (2026) with Arch Linux (as SteamOS doesn't support SteamVR at all). I'm using my old 2016 HTC Vive 1, probably the easiest headset to drive given its low resolution. So anyways, I have my Steam Machine set up in a triple boot setup (SteamOS, Arch Linux, and Windows 11) so I begrudgingly install Steam, SteamVR, and Pistol Whip on Windows. Got SteamVR set up, fired up Pistol Whip, and now it seems to run much better. Frame rate isn't atrocious, no glitching visuals that could easily give people less comfortable with VR serious issues, and actually was able to get into a game and play. It's a blast! Great music, great gunplay, I want to play this more. However, after a few games it hard crashes to desktop. I get to the end of a song, the screen fades to black, and then it immediately drops back to SteamVR Home as the game crashes. Try to restart the game? It shows the splash screen, plays a short cut-off sound clip, and drops back to SteamVR Home once more. Have to reboot to get it to work again, and then it will just crash again after a few songs. I am hopefully getting a Steam Frame soon. I really hope the experience is better on the Steam Frame, as thus far it's an exercise in frustration to even be able to play this game.

No longer functions in 2026 with meta headsets. Controllers will stop being recognized before you can finish a single track. Other games work fine for hours.

To start, this is an incredible VR game on my Steam Frame. I played this streaming via my Arch Linux PC with a WiFi 6 router, dedicated 5GHz band at 160MHz with no issues or lag at all (system specs will be attached). To say it got my blood pumping and my body moving is an understatement. It can start you out with training for: Basics ------- Shooting Reloading Pistol Whipping Advanced ---------- Dodging Timing shots Recovering health I played through the western campaign after doing the training and the music is excellent. The shooting feels REALLY good, the enemies start off paced and then come faster. It kept me on my toes the entire time. especially at the end of each level when bullets are coming from all directions. I haven't played standalone because my PC can handle it and I want twice as much battery life; simple as that. There is both gun and melee customization but it isn't too extensive (type of gun/melee, color and patterns). There are two campaigns to play through (BUT I WISH THERE WERE MORE), an arcade mode for scoring runs and difficulty modes for turning up how much you have to move dodge and look. For a workout this ranks right behind Les Mills Body Combat (but that is fitness focused) and for fun it is right up there with Beat Saber for me. It honestly is both extremely fun and a good workout. Give this one a try, oh and one more thing: if you need to exit the game from the lobby, turn around, it's behind you. Definitely pick this up, the devd deserve it for this one and I truly hope they make a sequel!

тут нет игры. вот это то что запускают вр клубах попробовать вр максимум Музыку за выстрелами не слышно, да и смысла нет ее слушать, это не ритм игра. Тут лютый автоим стоит просто наведи в сторону врага пистолет, пуля сама в него полетит это просто скучно играть, закликивай в сторону врагов и проходится само, патроны бесконечные

Managed to play the game after researching for hours and trying things somehow, (controllers were not showing up, so I couldn't play it) after 5 minutes of gameplay, game paused by itself all of sudden controllers disappeared in game. Emberassing.

I find pistol whip very enjoyable as a metabolic increaser, VR experience an as a rhythm game. The freeform rhythm aspect is more fun for me compared to games requiring precise arm movements. Modding tools are available with fan made song downloads, but they are much more limited than Beatsaber etc.
