Professional Ship Simulator

I would be careful of the reviews, It is always something I look at when buying a game but these reviews are unequivocally unfair to the fresh Early access release. The demo was just that... a demo. Demo: graphics - Average and a little dated, no underwater graphics, average textures. Would run smoothly upto extreme. physics - very real feeling, much better vehicle physics than another new release, simulated drift and wind effects. Gameplay - limited by design.... because its a demo Tutorials - basic The early access release: graphics - very good, well optimised and beautiful. Physics - (personally i dont think you can call a game a simulator without a high level of realism but it seems to be the trend) this game is an actual simulator, the vehicle feel heavy and alive. The ocean feels powerful and intimidating. Some of the best water physics yet. Gameplay - somewhat limited but that is the point of early access, there is much more in this release than the demo and I predict a lot more to come. Tutorials - still need some work but again early days The point of early access is smaller game developers can release unfinished content and fund further development before they run out of funds which we see happen all the time. But with the caveat that the game is unfinished. Some developers abuse it and release unfinished trash and expect full price, this is not that at all. I rarely write reviews but I wish the game devs the absolute best with this game its a niche genre and suddenly there is a lot of competition. Please keep putting in the hard work and for people reviewing the game remember it is easy to leave a poor review but you are potentially trashing someone's dream project that they have spent hundreds of hours on. Good luck and all the best for the future.

I’m a senior navigational officer with real experience at sea. The game is nice and, in many ways, quite close to real life, but I noticed a few issues. First, the ECDIS seems to have a bug. Every time I try to move around or zoom the chart, it starts bugging out and becomes difficult to use. The thrusters also don't seem to work on some ships. You can see the visual effects and water splashing, but they don't seem to have any actual effect on the ship's movement. Another thing, although this might be because I haven't tried all the ships yet, is that I couldn't find a way to control two rudders separately. They seem to work only in sync. Overall, I like the game and think it has good potential. Fixing these issues would make it even better and more realistic.

Much like every other "ship sim" of the last decade, it ends up being a series of good ideas with a very poor and shallow execution. The "Early Access" tag is just a system companies use to justify the release of poor products that are abandoned after a year or two or released to 1.0 in an absurdly bad state, just to cash out what Steam is keeping in the bank. The ideas of NauticXP are all there: multiple tasks, believable nautical charts, 1:1 scale maps and ship systems, but it all ends there. Water physics are nearly absent and do not affect your ship in the correct way, the only thing present is the wind pushing your vessel like a ball on ice. Big ships are supposed to list and "ride" the waves, not being swallowed entirely and come back out like nothing happened. Inertia is also unrealistic for smaller vessels that halt like someone hit the brakes after reaching 20kts of speed. There is no voice acting and likely there will never be, it's all Text-to-speech (at this point just use AI). "Real time" weather doesn't match what is really happening in that specific area of the planet (Dover and Northern Germany). It's all flat waters with no wind, just fog. Either the API calls are broken or they are pulling data from an outdated source. The interiors are bare bones to say the least... yes, you have some fancy screens but you don't really need them. Tutorials are broken. I'm not holding my breath anymore, for anything in this industry. It's pretty clear that the objective is scrape every single cent out of our pockets and then run away.

I really wanted to be impressed by Professional Ship Simulator, but at the moment I’m pretty mixed on it. played the Demo in hopes of improvement upon release but unfortunately not :( It’s not necessarily bad, it just feels like it needs to cook for WAY longer. The whole experience currently feels quite bland and old-fashioned, rather than like a modern ship simulator. Visually, I’m particularly disappointed. The graphics have this strange slimy/plastic look to them, and at times it genuinely feels like we’ve digressed back to around 2007. I wasn't expecting photorealism, but I was expecting something with a bit more atmosphere, detail and life to it. The AI voice doesn't help either. It regularly pronounces things incorrectly, which might sound like a small complaint, but in a simulator where immersion is a huge part of the experience, it sticks out immediately and makes everything feel that little bit less polished. The biggest problem for me is that it just feels bland. Nothing has really grabbed me yet or given me that feeling of being aboard a working vessel. The foundations might be there, but it needs more character, atmosphere and polish before it feels like the modern ship simulator I was hoping for. There is definitely potential here, which is why I don't want to write it off. Give it some time, improve the visuals, sort the AI voice and inject some life into the overall experience, and I think it could become something really enjoyable. For now though, it feels less like a finished modern simulator and more like something that's still cooking as it is Early access, im gunnu wait until i see improvement. Sorry.

Far too buggy to be recommendable. I cannot make it passed the 2nd tutorial because it bugged out and will not let me proceed. I watched videos of people completing it, which I followed until the prompts randomly stopped. I cannot proceed to the third nor have I beaten the 2nd. No indicators, no prompts. I really want to keep this game but with how buggy it is I might just wait a year+ for a deep sale.

Buggy, badly made, and nothing like the trailer. Some people say "it's just a demo", but that is no excuse. I bought the game, and it is nowhere near ready. 1. Everything is buggy. There are an incredible number of bugs, and the whole game feels broken and unfinished. Almost nothing works the way it should. This is the biggest problem. 2. Constant crashes and missions that won't load. The game crashes all the time, not just once in a while. Sometimes I can't even get into missions because they won't load. 3. Broken steering. Sometimes I simply cannot steer left at all, while steering right always works. In a ship simulator, not being able to steer properly is a huge problem. 4. Unrealistic physics. I don't know much about ships, but a big cruise ship at full throttle turns almost instantly, with a tiny turning radius. I don't think that is realistic at all. With a small boat like an inflatable, the whole boat sometimes goes underwater because of the waves, even when the waves are very small. For something called a simulator, this is a serious problem. 5. I don't think anything is actually simulated. For example, in a harbor that is completely enclosed by walls, the waves are exactly as big as out at sea. If there are 4-meter waves outside, there are the same 4-meter waves inside the harbor. Real harbor walls would block most of that, so it seems the water is not simulated at all. 6. The trailer is misleading. Anyone who expects what the trailer shows will not get it. The game is completely different from the trailer, not even close. This feels like false advertising. 7. It looks like a cheap free mobile game. Even on the highest settings, it looks exactly like one of those typical free, low-quality mobile simulators. Everything looks pixelated and low-effort. For exemple the outboard motors are just grey cubes without textures. 8. Absurd system requirements and terrible performance. The game asks for an i5-12500H and a GTX 1080 Ti as the minimum, and an i7-13700HX, an RTX 4070 and 32 GB RAM as recommended, for something that looks like a low-quality mobile game. I know my CPU is a bit below the listed minimum (i5 10400f), but on medium settings I only get about 30 FPS. For comparison, Cyberpunk 2077 runs at 60 FPS on medium settings with ray tracing on the same PC and looks far, far better. It runs on Unreal Engine 5, but that is no excuse either. 9. No water effects. There are none at all, not even from the propeller. 10. Every boat feels the same. You switch on the battery, then the engine, then four lights, and that's it. It is exactly the same for an inflatable boat and for an oil tanker. There is no attention to detail. 11. Every bridge is identical. The ship bridges all look the same and are operated the same way. 12. Almost no content. If you were willing to put up with it, you could finish everything in a few hours. 13. Awful sound. The audio is bad and choppy. For example when you dock at a harbor, the ropes make an ear piercing squealing noise the whole time. 14. The tutorial doesn't work properly. I'm honestly shocked at how bad this is. I wouldn't download it if it were free. Do not buy this game!
