Shelves and Sorcery: Tidy Up the Enchanted Shop

1 / 8

Shelves And Sorcery is a relaxing fantasy organization game about turning absolute chaos back into order.

Weapons, potions, spellbooks, fruits, vegetables, magical curiosities, and thousands of other items have been scattered throughout three fantasy shops. Pick everything up, find where it belongs, and slowly watch each shop return to the way it was meant to be.

Take your time and enjoy the satisfaction of putting everything in its place, or learn every corner of the shop and race against players around the world for the fastest time.

Three Shops to Restore. Four Ways to Play.

Choose from three shops of dramatically different sizes, each with its own setting, atmosphere, and challenge. Then return to them in four different modes , whether you want to relax, chase the fastest time, wield every bit of magic from the start, or organize without magic at all.

• Casual Mode – No timer and no pressure. Take your time, enjoy the atmosphere, and organize every shelf at your own pace.

• Timed Mode – Race against the clock and compete on the global leaderboards . Learn where every item belongs, master your Sorceries and Enchantments, perfect your route, and keep pushing for a faster time.

• Archmage Mode – Start with every Sorcery and Enchantment already unlocked. Take on the entire shop at full magical strength and see just how powerful an experienced shopkeeper can be.

• No Magic Mode – The magic of the world has escaped. No Sorceries. No Enchantments. No magical shortcuts. Just you, thousands of misplaced items, and the knowledge you've gained along the way.

The Hearth & Barrel

1,000+ items to organize

A cozy shop tucked away in the quiet village of Burg. Once a welcoming stop for locals and passing adventurers, its shelves have fallen into disarray. With 1,048 items to restore, it's a comfortable introduction to the satisfying world of organizing.

The Merchant's Rest

3,000+ items to organize

A well-loved shop in the bustling market town of Stonebridge, built through years of honest work by its humble merchant. With 3,085 misplaced items, restoring The Merchant's Rest offers a much larger challenge with plenty of shelves waiting to be put right.

The Grand Athenaeum

4,000+ items to organize

High above the clouds on the floating isle of Vane stands a legendary shop filled with magical treasures from across the world. With 4,066 items scattered throughout, The Grand Athenaeum is the largest challenge of them all. Take your time restoring it, or master every shelf and chase the fastest time.

Sorcery Makes Everything Easier

Thankfully, you don't have to organize thousands of magical objects entirely by hand.

As you make progress, unlock Sorceries designed to help you tackle the mess.

Gather matching items from around the shop, reveal objects you've been struggling to find, or use magic to send items toward the shelves where they belong.

The more you organize, the more powerful your magical toolkit becomes.

Enchant Your Shopkeeper

Magic isn't limited to spells.

Unlock Enchantments that permanently improve your abilities and change how you move through each shop.

Carry more items at once. Increase your reach. Move faster. Jump higher. Eventually, even take to the air.

Combined with your Sorceries, these abilities can turn an experienced shopkeeper into an organizing force of nature and become an important part of chasing faster times.

Three Shops. Thousands of Items. One Place for Everything.

Whether you're carefully organizing The Hearth & Barrel after a long day, working your way through the thousands of items inside The Merchant's Rest, or fighting for a place on the leaderboard in The Grand Athenaeum, Shelves And Sorcery is built around one simple satisfaction:

Finding where something belongs...

and finally putting it there.

Shelves and Sorcery: Tidy Up the Enchanted Shop 10-30+ hours to complete, Shelves and Sorcery is new to the new Tidy Up genre that’s recently gotten wildly popular thanks to Librarian: Tidy Up the Arcane Library, and if you’ve played that one, you will enjoy using magic and spellcasting to organize these enchanted shops! At the moment there are three different maps with four gamemodes – Casual, Timed, No Magic, and Archmage – with timed not being a countdown, but seeing how fast you can complete the level which then gets added onto a leaderboard. There will be a multiplayer mode in the future, which I’m excited for and look forward to playing. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3794240572 Each of the current three levels build on the last one so far, with The Hearth and Barrel being the smallest with 1,048 items and The Grand Athenaeum being the largest with about 4,000 items. There are an assortment of items from food, weapons, potions, books, and crafting supplies. Each item has a place it belongs to in the store and aside from having items on the correct shelf, you can organize things how you like. When a shelf is completed, you get a visual confirmation as well as the nameplate changing colors to black and yellow. Overall, it’s a really nice game about organizing many things that has a lot of potential for future updates and new maps. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3794240486 If you liked this review and want to read about similar games or just support me on my journey of playing my entire Steam backlog, you can join my curator group, Rune's Reviews! There are a lot of games like this popping up, but this one is probably my favourite, even better than Arcane Library, definitely also check out the devs other game Teddy's Haven if you like cozy shop games

Shelves and Sorcery: Tidy Up the Enchanted Shop is a collecting and organizing game from the same stable that brought you Teddy's Haven and the same items and shelves are used in this game too, so it's a sort of a spin off. What is new is the book of sorcery and the book of enchantment which means you can use magic to help organize and put away your items and also upgrade things like your backpack and various attributes to speed things up. There are three shops in total ranging in size and number of items. The first shop has 1048 items, the second shop has 3088, and the biggest shop has 4066 items to tidy. Within each shop you have the choice of a Casual mode, where there are no time limits; a Timed mode, where you compete on an online leader board to tidy the shop in the fastest time; an Out of Mana mode, where no magic is allowed to be used; and an Arch Mage mode, where you start with maximum magic powers and abilities. Basically, once you've chosen a shop and the mode you want to play, it's then up to you to tidy the shop up and put every single item back on the shelves. You'll start off with no magic or abilities (unless you're playing Arch Mage mode) and as you tidy away you will receive gold for spending on attributes, and mana for upgrading spells. Attributes include a backpack, meaning you can pick up more than the default five items up to a maximum of fifteen; Extended Reach, which allows you to stock shelves from farther away; Fleet Foot, which allows you to sprint faster around the shop; and Bounding Leap, which lets you jump whilst airborne. Spells include Arcane Sight, which highlights the same items that is currently in your hand, and also shows where it goes on the shelf; Gathering Gale, which will collect all the same items you have in your hand currently; and Homeward, which sends all the items in your backpack to the shelves. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3783555503 My tactic was to pick up an item, use Gathering Wind to fill my backpack to its limit with the same item, and then use Homeward to magically transport them to their rightful place on the shelf. It feels quite satisfying watching the items fly into your backpack and then watch them fly onto the shelves. The animations for this look quite nice and there are nice sound effects too. Each magical spell has a cooldown though but this can be reduced by upgrading the spell with mana points earnt from completing whole sets of items. To be honest, certain spells and attributes are way more useful than others. It won't take you long to realise that it is crucial to upgrade your backpack so you can collect more items, and upgrade Gathering Wind and Homeward to collect and sort items. I am baffled why you would even need to jump, and the shops aren't large enough really to necessitate running faster than your default speed, so they are useless really. The various modes are welcomed and have a completely different feel. If you feel like you want to put every item on the shelves yourself then try the out of mana mode, or if you want a bit of both then try the casual mode. There are also achievements to gain which can also add some direction to your gameplay. The shops look quite nice and the items have a fantasy feel about them, but that is expected considering they come from Teddy's Haven which is a fantasy shop management game. What particularly impressed me was the ease at which you can pick up items. To begin with there is a heap of items that fall from the sky and settle all over the place, widespread and on top of each other. Even when not using magic, the items are very easy to pick up because, even if an object is below another object, you can still highlight it and pick it up, and mechanics make this very easy to do because they highlight the shape of the object and name it too. The game is very relaxing to play if you enjoy this type of gameplay, and if you want to challenge yourself then you can try the timed option, although I suspect the leader boards or the game has been been hacked because a lot of the times are completely unrealistic. As with Teddy's Haven, a purchase of this game will allow you to mould and influence updates because the developer is extremely hands on and will put out multiple updates when listening to feedback. I can't think of much that is wrong with the game though, it just does what it says on the tin very well. Alternatives - Wand & Order Librarian Cluttermancer Final Thoughts Shelves and Sorcery is a very relaxing game to play because it just feels chill playing along with the music and sorting items. I don't expect this to appeal to everyone, but the brigade that like power washing things and sorting things will certainly enjoy this. Thank you for reading my review. I could never find any of these types of games without the use of AI. I first saw this game being played by TheHotCross on youtube, and, him being anti-ai, decided to look it up. When I saw that the Devs realized there were AI assets, and REMOVED them, I was sold. at 4.79$ on sale, this game more than pays for itself. Cute art, soothing music, and fun gameplay. You can buy upgrades to sort things easier and carry more things, the items are unique and fun to look at. There's three levels, and I'm on the first one still, but I'm having so much fun. It's such a calming, relaxing game, perfect to kick back on a weekend and settle in for some sorting. Thanks Devs, for making something without AI, and for putting so much care into a cute, fun game.

If you want a game that is good and mindless, this is it! I loved Librarian: Tidy Up the Arcane Library! and have been watching a lot of similar games pop up in the months since. I think this one is the most creative I have seen so far, and the fact that there are 3 different levels that have more and more items that allow for different trialing (timed, all magic, no magic, casual gameplay) etc. allows me to sink hours into this mindlessly. If you are a completionist, the gameplay loop is well worth the price, and the creativity is fun. While Librarian will always reign supreme, this is a close second. I also love that it isn't buggy in my experience. Occasionally, an item spawns outside of the reachable realm, but you can hit a button to bring it back into play and move forward, and that's all that matters to me!

Alright. Shelves and Sorcery: Tidy Up the Enchanted Shop is done and dusted. This is really exactly as the title says. It's a tidy up game. In this instance, you have three magic shops that have all been ransacked somehow. Nothing was stolen, but some mischievous soul or random magical happenstance has removed all the items from their proper shelves and dumped everything on the ground throughout the three shops. Your goal is to get everything back on the shelves, in an orderly fashion. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3783582175 Which is to say, everything needs to be placed in the correct area of the stores. Potions go in the potion shelves, books on the bookshelves, weapons on weapons racks, etc... And you need to avoid mixing up different items as well. For example, a Potion of Greater Healing should only be placed with other Potions of Greater Healing. Each item you get back on a shelf earns a bit of cash which can be used to purchase the permanent enchantments. The most useful of which being the increased pocket space (i.e. carrying capacity), which at its max is fifteen items. It was ten before a much-needed recent update. Other enchantments are increased speed, which does speed up the cleaning process; more jumping, which lets you jump over racks and shelves and counters with double, triple, etc... jumps; and the last enchantment, which gives you greater click range to pick up items. There are several levels for each enchantment. You definitely want to focus on pocket space first and get that maxed out before working on the others outside of maybe purchasing the first level of each initially. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3783869499 When you complete a set of items, such as finding and putting all the Swords of Incredibly Painful Death (I made that name up) on their appropriate weapons rack, you earn magical cash, which you can use to purchase actual spells, of which there are three. One allows you to hold an item and see where all the other same items are on the floor. But it only lasts for a short period of time, with each upgrade giving the spell a longer duration. The second spell also requires holding an item, and upon casting the spell, it will place all copies of the same item that are still on the floor into your pockets (up to your max carrying capacity), making it easier to complete sets of items. The last spell allows you to send any items currently in your pocket to their appropriate shelves/racks/counters. These last two spells are inarguably the most useful and the ones you should focus on as a priority. Again, each spell has several upgrade levels. Upgrades reduce the cooldown between uses as well, btw. Ultimately, that's the game. The first shop you clean has the least number of items and also the smallest selection of different types of items. The remaining two shops have progressively more items and a better selection of them. The selections themselves are very creative and fun with evocative names and cool designs. You will play in default mode for each shop. After completing a shop, you unlock the other modes for said shop, which include having all your spells maxed out, having no spells, and time challenge mode for leaderboard enthusiasts. I played the first shop without using spells. I don't recommend that. It's fairly laborious. The second shop, I fully embraced spellcasting. The third shop, when I saw all the items drop, felt pretty daunting, and I was on the fence as to whether I really wanted to clean that shop up or not given its vast size. But I fell into a good rhythm and had fun with it. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3783675199 And I think that is the primary draw of this game. A good cozy cleaning game where you can fall into a nice rhythm and enjoy the game at your own pace. Plus, as mentioned, the items are very fun. And actually, the shop designs are pretty cool as well. It's just a chill, good vibes type of game where you can just embrace simple gameplay mechanics and relax. If you so desire. The $5.99 base price seems more than fair for what amounted to about thirteen hours of gameplay for me. If you are a completionist though, you're going to probably get more like 25-30 hours of gameplay here. I had a good time with the game and think it's well worth a look. The developer kindly provided several keys for our IndieGems review team. If you found this review helpful and would be interested in supporting my Curator group, Robilar's Reviews, it would be appreciated. Cheers. Also follow IndieGems for more reviews like this one.

I am a huge proponent of therapy. There is no substitute for the good that can be done by a professional therapist and taking care of your mental health. However, this is the next best thing. I'm messy. This game is very relaxing (but also in a stressful way when you're trying to decide how you want to sort things). It's also got me looking around in real life being like "Why am I good at game clean but not good at real clean. Why." Anyway, I love this.
