Play as Yuma Ilvern and stop the Empire from exploiting the power of the ancient dragons, including the soul of the Shining Dragon within you. With the help of your friends, realize your destiny, save Astoria, and unleash the strength you’ve always had locked away.
In the original game, previously released only in Japan, Imperial Princess Excella was an unplayable character, but in the new “Refrain Mode” in Shining Resonance Refrain, both she and Dragonslayer Jinas can be added as party members for a new experience – just be sure to save this for your second playthrough to avoid any spoilers! As an added bonus, all of the extra cosmetic items and side quests are included in this remaster.
Dragons were long thought to be extinct, and because Yuma holds the ability to transform into the Shining Dragon, he was taken as a captive of the Empire. With the help of the Dragoneers, Sonia, princess of Astoria, pleads with Yuma to aid them in their fight to save their land from the Empire’s dominion. Typically timid, will Yuma find the courage to realize the strength he has within him?

Shining Resonance Refrain is a repetitive hack-and-slash ARPG with dating sim elements. Although the graphics are outdated, the game remains pleasant to look at thanks to the attractive character designs by popular illustrator Tony Taka. Grinding is necessary to gather crafting materials, empower your party, and level up to defeat bosses. The worst part is that benched party members do not receive XP, making the "Image Training" Aspect practically mandatory to get through the late game. If you don't mind grinding and anime tropes, and you enjoy cute anime waifus, this game is for you.

Sometimes i wish Steam had a "kind of" recommended option for reviews. This is not terrible by any means but it aint great either. Characters are likeable enough and they do actually develop a bit over the course of the game. I did like the relationship segments with party members and being able to have chats or even dates with your favourites. Graphics are decent if very barebones but it is an old game. and the dub is actually pretty good. The combat has some interesting ideas but is let down by the general clunkiness of movement, terrible party ai and whack balancing. Pretty common to be coasting along on normal mobs and then come across a boss type who starts one shotting everyone in seconds. Also the system for starting a fight is weird. You will often times be convinced you hit the mob from behind only to hardly ever get the advantage, where as mobs that have clearly run into the front of you will get the advantage somehow and you get to watch them wail on you for a bit cos you can't move. Honestly if the combat is the most important part of your jrpg i would probably skip this. But the rest of what's here is decent to pretty good.

Me dejé llevar por un buen trailer y la promesa de buenas mecánicas. Me encontré con un juego para pajeros que se ven reflejados en el protagonista más retardado, inseguro y mongolo que he visto en un videojuego. La historia no es lo suficientemente buena para tolerar todos sus defectos, muy básica y es más bien una excusa para mostrarte todas las furcias que el juego ofrece. Juego para el que le guste hacerse la paja con monas chinas. De resto no ofrece nada.
