Sim Junta
Sim Junta – A game of dirty politics!
Welcome Sir.
You are the new dictator of Risuena, a small and poor country of the third world. You have just seized power after a bloody coup and your intentions are to stay in power as long as you can, to rip this country off, transfer the money to your secret Swiss bank account and of course, stay alive and enjoy your wealth.
The problems in your plan are the various parties of Risuena's society who also want to benefit and survive throughout your Junta, the Guerrillas who try to seize power, the Americans who support your dictatorship but expect something in return and the next men in power after you, who are waiting for a chance to betray you!
Sim Junta is developed as a retro game of the 80's 16-bit computers. It is a statistical management game of brutal and violent politics, since it is a game that has dictatorship as a theme. It is a humorous but very deep strategy game.

It's not a rip off of Tropico. It's a rip off of Dictator on the ZX Spectrum. Which would be great. I've wanted a new version of Dictator for years. As a cheap text game, it would be fun. Sadly, Sim Junta has less random events, a worse UI and is generally less fun than Dictator. When you're outclassed by the 1983 8 Bit game you're based on, something has gone badly wrong.

This game is interesting. Not bad, not great, just interesting. Take the core concept of Tropico, where you are an island dictator and revolution against your regime is just around the corner, yet make it a predominantly Cause and Effect type game where instead of building up an island nation like Sim City, you're more balancing budgets to not go bankrupt yet not get wiped out by rebels due to tax increases until you're rich enough to escape. It seems the only way to learn the game is to constantly fail and try again, which works with this type of game but it's frustrating when you keep getting wiped out by your own army! All in all, it's simple, it's interesting and games where you experiment always come off as engaging to me. I'd recommend if you're into text adventures as a mad dictator who is just trying to screw his nation out of millions of dollars! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4PoWV4l7BYg

Wertung: 7/10 Atmosphäre 6/10 Story 6/10 Grafik 6/10 Sound 5/10 Spielmechanik 3/10 Balancing 5/10 Spielspass Fazit: Guter Stil, schwaches Gameplay. 5/10 Gesamtwertung

Fun little game! The game itself is kind of simple. Stay alive, and in power, for as long as possible. Sounds pretty easy right? Well the game is a sort of turn based game, where you spend each round allocating different resources to different official or unofficial government branches. Each time some you do so, you'll make some people happy, and some other people less happy. The key is to try and keep most people happy, or at the very least, the people who can protect you happy. Different factions or groups of people can turn against you, as well as you closest advisors might try and take power from you. So if you've ever dreamed about being a real life dictator, well here's your chance. But watch your back!

This is a very fun and easy to play game, but is very difficult to win. Previous reviews have explained what this game is about, so I will try to share some things I have found out the hard way. Please note that all my suggestions are for Normal Level. New Game: After creating a new game check Army Chief and Police Chief Ambition. If it is too high better start another game and don’t waste your time. Is already hard enough as it is to avoid a revolution from the various parties, the Guerillas or the Prisoners. The most common way to get overthrown and lost this game is if your Police or Army Chief betray you and try to seize the power. After playing several games I noticed that with an ambition rate below 6 is very rare for a Chief to try to overthrow you. In the other hand try to have a Police Chief with high Ability. Without his monthly reports you will be blind! Also an Army Chief with low ability is very difficult to win a war or inflict high damage to the Guerillas. And here the difficult thing and the hard decision. Is very rare to find a Chief with high Ability and low Ambition. First Action: Attack the Guerillas! To keep them week is of paramount importance. Is not only the danger to start a revolution but they can also make other actions like steal banks or burn plantations or industries if they are strong enough. Taxes: I like to keep taxes as high as possible just below the point that a party will grow unhappy enough to start a revolution or try an assassination attempt. This gives you more money of course but has a risk. If something goes wrong and any party starts the revolution all unhappy parties will join in. So be really careful there. Every month: Spend the 5.000.000$ for the personal campaign. In general you trade some of the 2nd most important resource of the game to lower the opposition against you and buy you some of the 1st most important resource, Time! Must to do action: There are too many actions (around 25) to explain here in detail (like the personal campaign above) but the game gives you a detailed report of the effect it will have on the society for each one so are self explainable. I just want to point out that one of them, to give a general amnesty and release all the prisoners at the beginning of the game is a must. It really lowers the opposition and at the same time cuts a lot the state expenses. After that you must always attack the Guerillas though as most of the released prisoners joins them. The only thing that is better than doing this action is if the people make a request about it and you approve. But you might need to wait many months for this. The Americans: I have never seen an Assassination attempt from the Americans to fail in this game, so try not to piss them off. Maybe you can say no to 1 or 2 of their demands but at the end you must play ball to remain in power. There is a Kiss Americans’ ass action. Use it if necessary. What to do when ♥♥♥♥ hits the fan: 1. Increase your personal army (will give you some basic protection against assassinations and will help in a civil war if you select to stay and fight after a revolution starts. 2. Buy an escape helicopter. I tried to escape on foot several times and I ended up dead all of them! 3. Arrest your enemies and even execute them in the prison. 4. Tax the parties that will for sure take part in a revolution against you to decrease their power. Also make any of the actions in the action page that further cut their power. Notice thought that parties that are too weak will try an assassination attempt and not a revolution. 5. Only if you select to flee the country, collect all the money you can. Sell an island, ask Americans for aid etc. Then transfer all money to your Swiss bank account. Of course I haven’t covered all aspects of the game but I hope I have helped. I will continue to add to this guide as I find new things.

This game is great for the bargin I've gotten it for! It's a game set during the Cold War in which you are "Mr.President", the current military president of Risuena, a backwater, third-world country. This game is sorta like if Tropico had an orgy with Papers, Please, add a dash of Haiti, and this would be it's love child. It's also somewhat like that game Dictator on the ZX Spectrum (look it up, it's an old school game). Anyways, this game is a management economy game without building ♥♥♥♥ and instead just passing out edicts and stuff. What you then do is balence the economy by raising taxes and creating bills to pass, however, don't think that you can just ♥♥♥♥ around and not get away with it (believe me, it happened to me a couple times). If you do decide to diddlydick around, the different factions will try to plot against you by either trying to form a revolution or to try to kill your ass. And if that happens, you have a small choice that could lead in either life or death, fight off the punkass revolutionaries or leave the country for good. If you choose to fight, you'll either live to another day, or you'll die. If you do flee, you'll win if you have played your cards right and you'll be presented with a nice ending. Anyways, my score for this game would be a: 8.25/10 It's a good indie game and I'd suggest buying it during a Steam sale, only because it's not exactly worth $5.

A text-based version of Tropico could work in theory, but here it doesn't. You're mostly managing budgets, and it gets repetitive after a while. Some of the events also seem a bit arbitrary which makes it more difficult than it should. It's now awful, but it's not that fun either.
