Negative reviews were probably expecting a remake or something. It's not. You get the original experience with some nice bonus features. Don't know what else you were expecting there. Game is a blast from the bast, count between 7 and 9 hours to get all the achievements.

Now <this> is how you port and remaster an old game onto newer hardware/consoles: Basically preserve the core game but add bonus features, levels, characters etc. It's a bit of a shame that they couldn't integrate online co-op into this, as that would have been the logical solution to how multiplayer is going to be quite redudant on PC without that. However, otherwise: they've really outdone themselves with this port, and totally blew my expectations out of the water.

Mais um port sem-vergonha da Aspyr, pra variar Acho que um dos maiores mistérios da indústria atualmente é por que diabos essa b0sta de desenvolvedora continua tendo oportunidade de fazer versões extremamente porcas de jogos antigos de Star Wars. Desde os menus com fonte Arial até a jogabilidade terrível, as Aspyr sempre consegue estragar tudo que encosta. O gráfico aqui não é original, então não tinha desculpa pra ele ser tão escroto, assim como a câmera do jogo, que poderia tranquilamente receber uma melhoria. Como eu fui uma criança nintendista e não tive PS1, comprei esse jogo com zero saudosismo. Deixando qualquer memória afetiva de lado, o jogo é ok até, se a gente relevar os comandos lagados e as plataformas esquisitas. São 10 fases que contam a história do filme, mais quatro fases bônus, além de uma porrada de personagens pra escolher. Tem também um modo de luta que tá lá só pra constar, já que o combate é justamente um dos pontos fracos de Jedi Power Battles, ironicamente. O conjunto da obra tinha muito potencial, mas é só mais um joguinho safado para os fãs de Star Wars pegarem em promoção e conseguirem uma platininha suave.

You are better off just playing this on Dreamcast. I think Aspyr needs to officially stop remaking Star Wars games cause they never seem the same and always overpriced for a remake that is clunky.

-Quick Review- Let me take you back to my Childhood when you only had enough money to buy a few video games, and you cherished those games above all your other worldly possessions. The Play Station Greatest Hits: Star Wars Jedi Power Battles was one of those few beloved possessions. STAR WARS™: Episode I: Jedi Power Battles was originally developed by Lucas Arts and released in 2000, but has since been “remastered” by Aspyr and rereleased in 2025. Review Video: If you don't like reading, or are curious about watching gameplay check out my video here: https://youtu.be/q_bhBvOL4lk -Detailed breakdown review- Story: The story for STAR WARS: Episode I: Jedi Power Battles follows the 1999 film Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace. Big shocker there for you, I know. The clue was in the games obnoxiously long title. For the sake of simplicity, I’m just going to call it “Jedi Power Battles” from here out. You select your character, battle off the Trade Federation Battleship after the Neimoidians try to poison gas you out, fight through Naboo, pit stop on Tatooine, get tossed off the ledge on Corescant, go back to Naboo, and get your butt kicked by Darth Maul. At this point all I can say is “sorry for kinda spoiling Star Wars Episode 1 for you”, This was a really weird time in video game history (particularly Lucas Arts Games) because we got Star Wars Games which were basically “play the game which follows the movie beat for beat”. In hindsight it’s just kinda odd… but as a kid I didn’t care about that, I wanted to be a Jedi. Wave my hand and watch battle droids fall over! https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3666625162 Gameplay: It has been decades since I played this bad boy on the Play Station 1, and this port feels like it hasn’t aged a day. Slight improvements on the graphics, add in some extra silly peripherals, Darth Maul still sucks eggs and the only way I beat him is by selecting Pepper Jack or Mozzarella CHEESE. Jedi Power Battles is a 3d platformer Beat-em-up. You’ll probably want to play this with a controller, I couldn’t bring myself to try it with a keyboard… but I can report to you that it works great on the Steam Deck! The controls are: Directional Movement, Fast Attack, Medium/ Flourish Attack(?), Heavy Attack, (aka attack 1, 2, 3… catchy name controls menu) Jump, Block, use item, and use the Force. If you time your block right you’ll return Blaster bolts to their sender. Combo’s will use any mixture of button presses, ranging from as simple as spamming fast attack repeatedly, or as complicated as incorporating heavy, fast, and then sometimes the block button… I don’t use that combo. After you finish a level your points are tallied up and you get rewarded new combo’s and powers. The game gives you tons of combo attacks to play around with, however my young brain only did the same button press again, and again, and again. Mace Windu's fast attack same button combo was an instant classic and so Mace Windu also became my favorite character at the time. You can also just run and avoid combat, but those are extra experience points which would be added up for bonus powers for the Jedi you’re playing as… At the end of the level you have a boss fight. Returning back to this game I really like how varied the different levels appear. The music can definitely get repetitive, but on the whole Jedi Power Battles seems to play nearly EXACTLY how it felt to play as a kid. Along with the janky parts like the 3d platforming which I could understand if people dislike. This was a PS1 and Dreamcast game after all, they were still figuring out 3d platforming back then. Loved playing it as a kid; loved going back to it as an adult and having an excuse to snag some digital swag in Steam Achievements. I think nearly anyone who played the original will be more than happy with this remaster (There’s always some people out there who don’t though, so I won’t speak for them). Jedi Power Battles is a game from the past, dug up and presented to us today. If you’ve never played it, chances are *YOUR* opinion of the game is more useful then mine, but hopefully this review has been entertaining at least.
