The Castle of Dr. Hoot is singlehandedly one of the most painfully slow experiences I have ever had the displeasure of playing. Despite the obvious inspiration from Scott Cawthon visually and narratively (which is very charming), it lacks both the narrative pull and more witty writing that Cawthon has. The main problems I have are: -The pacing of the story is painfully slow and its presentation is vague (not in a intriguing sense, but in a confusing and baffling way) -The gameplay is incredibly repetitive and grindy for seemingly no reason -With all the runtime, so little of it was used for the purpose of characterization and we are left with less than 10 sentences per character that are truly relevant -The "ending" was lackluster and left too much up to interpretation about the most interesting character in the entire story -The "horror" was lacking mainly because of the unsubtle, lingering moments that feel closer to satire than honest to goodness scary -It in turn also was blazingly fast when it needed to slow down to allow the story to settle, and more tidbits are needed to actually characterize the main cast other than Dr. Hoot. Overall, if a lot of the fat was cut and more love was put into the character writing and plot, this game would be order of magnitudes more enjoyable than it is in its current state

i want to emphasize how much i love the artstyle and vibe of this game, but the gameplay is incredibly frustrating, maybe i just have a low attention span but it's extremely annoying that you have to redo the entire day if you mess up one thing, or even if the game decides to throw a random event at you that crashes your game for a jumpscare

My first thoughts on opening thee game was "It looks like something Scott Cawthon made" (I somehow didn't realize the game was made in Click Team). Then I got asked my name and thought long and hard. I thought the name "PoopyButt" and as "Poop" was entered I was taken to a parody of the Mario Party DS anti piracy screen (Mario Party DS did not have a anti piracy for anybody who didn't know. It was just a meme)

Chances are that if this game looks interesting to you then you're probably going to enjoy it. It's definitely not the deepest or most innovative take on the sort of indie horror nostalgia type of thing but the vibes are still immaculate. Honestly its just the little things like the surreal ui and the renders mixed with liminal ambiance. Tabbing out and getting a bizarre game over. Being able to draw in the bat girls room. And of course the secret lore that was only a bit disappointedly short and vague. I don't know what it is really. But I would recommend it. Especially for five dollars.

A game very much worth playing. It's another edutainment horror[-lite] game, but the mechanics are very interesting and inspired by FNAF. The minigames can feel slightly repetitive at times, but the game makes up for it with the storytelling and sleuthing that the player is required to do. The visuals are in high definition for the most part rather than pixelated, which makes this game's art style slightly more unique. Combined together with the early 90s CGI-aesthetic and faux-claymation, it's a hoot of a time to play. Some unintentional game-breaking soft locks still exist, but I'm cutting the developer slack as they're patching as many as possible as they become aware of them, and have already issued multiple minor patches a few weeks post-launch. tl;dr fake edutainment game good

This game was very good. I thought it was creepy and had a good story. It was a little buggy and could be longer, but I still recommend playing this game. Also, please upload this games music to youtube or something plsssssss.

I just finished the game, and I cant put into words how amazing of an experience this game was. I thought I knew what I was getting into when I started the game, but I gladly had my expectations subverted. The game has a very charming art style, and the writing genuinely surprised me. I feel like I only scratched the surface of the game because I didn't encounter many of the things I saw in the trailer, or other gameplay footage. I also can't express how happy I am to of experienced this game blind. I feel the more popular this game gets it's going to become very difficult to do. I can safely say that this game is well worth its asking price. I can not recommend this game enough.
