I need to preface this review by saying that I love this game. I love this world that Bethesda has created. But everything that you've read about the poor performance is true. After reaching a certain point, the performance absolutely falls off a cliff. It stutters, it lags, and becomes genuinely unplayable. It doesn't matter what kind of hardware you're running. It's a problem with the game itself. What's more concerning is that the game has been in this state for more than a year and they've done absolutely nothing to remedy it. There are no updates or patches in sight, and we've barely received an acknowledgement of the issue. Worse yet--they're re-releasing it on other platforms. It feels borderline unethical.

I wouldn't recommend playing the game on Windows, as it crashes constantly and performance is mediocre to sluggish. On Fedora 44, however, the game runs smoothly—much like *Oblivion*, but with excellent graphics. It doesn't crash, and performance is better. That surprises me, especially since I heard that Bethesda is now owned by Microsoft.

Devs abandoned this game never optimized it basically just robbed people. Waited a long time hoping they would release an update and i literally still cant play it to this day. So sad how they treat elder scrolls.

Ужасная оптимизация. Внутри помещений и подземелий ещё неплохо, но снаружи игру колбасит. Слабым и даже средним ПК брать строго не рекомендуется.

Please do not let nostalgia blind you! This is just a re-skin of an old janky game that I loved, there are more bugs and preforamance issues in this. Which I hoped they would of fixed after launch... but Bethesda, we should of known. There was deep look into the game, the longer you play, the more it gives issues and frame drops. Which Bethesda has not fixed, but instead porting it to the switch 2. Game is not worth the price or when on sale, rather play the modded orignal if you has an itch. No matter, please do not support Bethesda! from now and in the future

I would recommend this game - as long as you're willing to put up with a few things. The graphics, UI, and dialog have been redone and are vastly improved compared to the original Oblivion. However, it is still the original game; it just looks way better. If you have an original game guidebook, it still applies. Unfortunately, game crashes are an issue. In the current version (at the time of this review), I would recommend saving your game often. Have the game open for long enough and it will eventually crash, so you don't want to lose your progress. I'm really hoping this gets fixed at some point, because otherwise, this remaster is amazing. I've finished one playthrough and will be back for more in the future.
