The Excavation of Hob's Barrow
Antiquarian Thomasina Bateman is writing a book on the barrows of England, documenting the treasures she finds buried within. When an intriguing letter summons her to the small village of Bewlay, tucked away in the remote countryside, she sets off by train with her assistant a day behind.
Upon her arrival, however, the mysterious man who summoned her is nowhere to be found. Her assistant never arrives. A stubborn landowner refuses access to the barrow, and the locals are wary of this woman who is traveling alone and (gasp!) wears trousers.
The excavation of Hob’s Barrow is off to a rocky start. And then Thomasina starts having strange dreams…

This is it !!! Cult horror with Lovecraftian cosmicism. 人终有一死，但你不知道死神会以何种方式何时降临。我喜欢这种叙事，不靠结尾反转制造惊喜，甚至作者通过铺垫引导让玩家隐约猜到结局，但就像游戏中说的，真正的恐怖来自于通往结局路上的不确定性。 整个作品贯彻了洛夫克拉夫特式宇宙主义，一个自认为无所不能的天选之子见证了作为人类的渺小。 有民间汉化了。 语音设置中，开发者旁白打开之后会不时出现开发者语音介绍谜题思路，挺好玩的。

overall i feel like the plot of this game is pretty solid, there's interesting things going on with the storytelling and i love folk horror! my biggest complaint with the game is that 80% of it is mostly just meandering around doing small tasks for people, which i felt was quite boring and tedious until you get to the third act. the art and music direction is great, and really lends itself to some very creepy moments, but otherwise i feel like i wouldn't revisit this game. i would say the first 2 acts of this game feel more like a visual novel than a point and click game.

It is almost exactly what it looks like on the store page. If you're looking at those screens and thinking "oh I might be interested in this" then you are undoubtedly right. Basically, a spooky story taking place out on the moors of Victorian England in the style of a Sierra game from several decades ago. (I really liked the voice casting too)

This is one of those games where the ending elevates everything that comes before it. The game is full of Northern English charm and dark rural atmosphere and is well written, but the gameplay lets it down. I know this is a point and click and therefore it's gameplay is somewhat restricted by that, but most of the bread and butter of this game is following item fetch chains. E.g you need item C, to get item B to get item A. It definitely borders on the tedious at times. If you're a fan of point and click and lovecraftian themes, definitely endure the mediocre gameplay to experience the fantastic story. The ending does not disappoint, or pull punches.

I have to say, the subtle tension and buildup in the game are truly atmospheric and quite unique for an adventure game, supported by the fantastic voice acting. It stayed with me long after I finished playing. Unfortunately, the game doesn't end on that same level of quality, both story-wise and gameplay-wise.

A charming point and click adventure with a fascinating story. Simple to play, a few minor puzzles, a great 7.7 hours. Loved the ending and the turn the story took in late game.

A fun puzzle game with a nicely creepy story. There is some cartoon gore, but it's pixel art and not real looking.
