The Fruit of Grisaia

1 / 8

SIX FRUITS BARE THEIR FANGS AT THE WORLD.

--The academy was their orchard.

In this place of learning, protected by high walls from the outside world, there arrived

a single young man who'd lost his purpose in life. He'd lost sight of what he wanted to protect. He passed his days in a haze of guilt and regret.

All that remained to him were the chains around his neck... And a life worth less than that of a stray dog. But in that academy, he would meet five young women. And in time, he would discover a new thread of hope.

--That girl's very birth was a mistake.

The sin of disobedience--

--A life not so different from death.

No one’s going to protect you--

--And survival itself can be a punishment.

That place was their orchard. Those young women were the fruits of remorse, grown on the tree of sorrow.

"What can I do for them...?"

In that thought lay the undying hope one young man had dreamed of finding--

Very good slice of life VN compared to its anime counterpart. It feels like reading the anime with it being mostly voice acted. You play as an ex soldier who gets admitted to a special school consisting of 5 students and a principal. Throughout the game you become more acquainted with each of them and discover their personalities as well as their pasts. The majority of the plot is slice of life but it surprisingly takes a dark turn with each students' routes. Personally I wasn't a fan of one of the routes and ended up watching that ending on youtube. However, the rest of the routes were well written and dense. And yes, the game is incredibly dense and goes in-depth with its characters unlike the anime. There are some questionable dialogue and eyerolling cliches but overall I had fun with it. I give this a solid 8/10 and I recommend playing this in short to medium bursts instead of marathoning it to prevent burnout, though maybe more when it gets a little more serious after the common route. Time to play part 2 now.

A lot of fun with all the dialogues, emotional stories, 1 or 2 bugs, but nothing that really disrupts the game. The voice actors, the music/song performers, and story writers did a great job. This is just right for my sense of humor. I can't believe I delayed reading/playing this game for so long.

My Link's ːred_pointerː My Curator's Page ːhandprintleftː Click Here ːhandprintrightː ːred_pointerː My Steam Group ːhandprintleftː Click Here ːhandprintrightː The Review I honestly didn't expect to get this invested in a visual novel. The Fruit of Grisaia has some seriously good writing. The characters are the biggest reason to play it — each one has their own problems and personality, and as you learn more about them, their stories get surprisingly dark and emotional. The game can be funny one minute and then completely destroy you emotionally the next. The balance between comedy, romance and darker themes works way better than I expected. The common route is pretty long, but once you start getting into the individual character routes, it becomes really hard to put down. Some of the stories are much darker than others, so definitely don't go into this expecting a simple romance VN. The only real downside is the length. This is a BIG visual novel, so you'll need quite a bit of free time if you want to experience everything. 10/10 — Came for the romance, stayed for the trauma.
