It's pretty big for an Adventure (took me even more than 15 hours) and almost every screen is great to look at! Also there are many points of interaction, a lot items in the inventory and many characters to interact with. Besides there too are small puzzles and games (card game, finding certain objects hidden in the screen) you don't need for the main story, but that can make it fun to stick at this place a little longer (if you're up for stuff like that). I'd say Daedalic reached a limit of what they can provide right now and what they can't. There are some things that would be nice to have too or improved but I guess than the game would have gotten too big and expensive. But still it works great for me. Even though you don't get useful hints, it's fun to puzzle through and it feels a bit like back in the old days. Especially the first half is quite challenging, but doable. The story isn't a typical example for storytelling - it moves slow, and it takes pretty long until you see danger but it comes with a great feel! The game takes its's strength from it's beautiful atmosphere and from offering an intriguing and complex world. After all I didn't like all of it but I liked it a lot!!! Of course it's not for everyone.

The Night of the Rabbit is a charming fairytale book but in video game form It takes a lot to create a charming atmosphere in game: down to earth or funny characters, varied music that sets in the mood, a story that whisks you away into its world, and some nice background drawings to look at. This game does well in all these categories. Characters are the highlight of this game Characters in this game give off a huge book vibe. Its hard to describe but, characters in books are usually more realistic, down to earth kind of characters, Like say, a villain who acts realistic to how old guy would if he gained magic powers, or how an overworked grumpy gardener would act towards kids bugging him with their quest. That sort of effort is present in this game as well. Granted, there arent too many characters, if any that stand out too much, but hey, if its not broken, why fix it? Main character was also a surprisingly well written kid. Usually kids are written to be annoying, or a bit too unrealistic for their age. But here, you can definitely see author knew how to write believable kid protagonist. Reminded me of myself a bit, minus the fact he could make jokes. Speaking of jokes... Thats also another highlight of writing in Night of the Rabbit, jokes are genuinely well written, subtle(as in, not in your face) and usually land to make you chuckle at least. Which was a surprise for me, since before this game, I played Whispered World(another daedalic p&c adventure with a kid protagonist set in fairytale esque world) and jokes there were pretty bland and dull. Here, the game didnt go out of its way to be funny(infact main story is pretty serious, especially in 2nd half of the game), but it still made me laugh sometimes. Story is kinda simple, but very effective You play as a kid who wants to become a magician, so luck shines upon him, and he gets chosen to become an apprentice to a magician. Throughout the game he learns new spells while slowly the villain gets showcased, until he fully arrives in 3rd act and you foil his plans. Pretty standard story, but character writing is what keeps it engaging. You spend a lot of time in mousewood, and because of how well rounded, down to earth all characters are, it gives off that old timey countryside village, and I love it. I also like how the villains were handled here, especially the final one. He doesn't fall into the trope of "he's just misunderstood guys, please forgive his war crimes he said sorry" nor falls into the trope of "pure irredemable villain who violently dies because hes just that evil". No, he has a pretty evil, but understandable motive(even if the story kinda throws his backstory at the end all at once, which is kinda jarring), and he doesn't get redeemed nor destroyed at the end. You almost feel pity for him at the end, the way game build up his story, what happens during 3rd act, the plot twist, it all makes you understand why he became a villain, why he got what he got at the end, and its genuinely interesting. Gameplay, one single flaw in this game? I'm still not sure if gameplay is the flaw of this game or not. Don't get me wrong, item puzzles are still mostly reasonable like 80-85% of them, so you arent gonna get anything even close to old school p&c adventure games from Sierra or Lucas arts in terms of difficulty. But it still feels a lot like trying to push through very viscous honey, its doable but man does it inflate game hours, the game would realistically only be 10h long if it just had a hint system. And I understand that most item puzzles were simple, and that Daedalic doesn't do hint systems in their adventure games, but this was the game that severely needed hint system. There is even in game lore explanation for it, you have 1st spell that is described as asking Rabbit for help, but he just tells you your main task, and not actually giving you advice... Also, this game, unlike Deponia series or Whispered world, actually had one true moonlogic puzzle in the game. When you get to an area with moths, I HIGHLY recommend you to just look up a walkthough(here's spoiler you need to make a slingshot, from a tree branch you saw near dwarves window, to catch a flower seed to plant near Moths and game doesnt bother hint you to go back to dwarves) because I swear you'd never figure out a solution to opening a portal on your own, hence it would be nice if we had hint system. Fun mini game inside this game One final, good thing about the game that deserves its own mention is Quartet. Quartet is a card game inside this game, that you can play with different characters, It plays like "Go Fish" card game, and I'm mentioning all this because besides this game, and "Putt-Putt and Fatty Bear's Activity Pack" there is no other game on steam that has "Go Fish" card game or game similar to "Go Fish"(I think Tabletop simulator has one but you need to install mods). Which is sad because I loved it as soon as I discovered it, so thats one way you can play Go Fish, is by buying this game The Night of the Rabbit is a very endearing, memorable p&c adventure, that is held back a bit due to some puzzles. Even if you aren't planning to ever play this game, I'd at least recommend checking a playthrough of this game, the story is worth seeing on its own.

Not the most popular game from the developer, but definitely not worse than their other adventures. It’s also absolutely beautiful. No AI slop backgrounds or janky generated characters here. You’re literally walking through a hand-drawn fairy tale.

"The Night of the Rabbit" ist ein sehr umfangreiches und komplexes Point-and-Click-Adventure.

A captivating point and click adventure delivers a rich blend of fantasy, mystery, and coming of age storytelling. A magical world filled with unusual characters and hidden secrets creates a strong sense of wonder from the opening moments. Narrative pacing allows the story to unfold naturally, encouraging exploration and curiosity while steadily revealing the larger themes at the heart of the adventure. Worldbuilding stands out through attention to detail and a setting that feels both imaginative and coherent. Every location contributes something meaningful to the journey, whether through lore, character interactions, or environmental storytelling. A consistent sense of discovery makes exploration rewarding, with new information and surprises waiting around nearly every corner. Puzzle design integrates well with the narrative and world. Challenges rely on observation, logic, and interaction rather than arbitrary solutions, helping progression feel satisfying and intuitive. Inventory management, environmental clues, and dialogue all play important roles in advancing the adventure, creating a balanced gameplay experience from beginning to end. Character writing adds depth and personality throughout the journey. Conversations reveal motivations, histories, and relationships that make the world feel alive and interconnected. Themes of friendship, growth, imagination, and responsibility are woven into the story in a way that remains engaging without losing the sense of magical adventure. Atmosphere remains one of the strongest aspects of the experience. Music, artistic direction, and storytelling work together to create a memorable setting filled with charm and mystery. The overall result is a thoughtfully crafted adventure that combines strong worldbuilding, enjoyable puzzles, and compelling storytelling into a rewarding experience that lingers long after the final chapter.

🎨 Grafik Hier spielt The Night of the Rabbit seine größten Stärken aus. 🛠️ Technik / Bugs Für ein Spiel von 2013 läuft The Night of the Rabbit heute grundsätzlich ordentlich. ⏳ Spielzeit / Umfang Für ein klassisches Point-&-Click-Adventure ist The Night of the Rabbit ziemlich umfangreich. 📝 In Aller Kürze [*] Märchenhafte Fantasywelt 🐇 [*] Wunderschöne handgezeichnete Grafik ✨ [*] Magie & klassische Point-&-Click-Rätsel 🖼 [*] Überraschend düstere Story 🌙 [*] Teilweise knackige/unklare Rätsel 🧩 [*] Starker Soundtrack 🎵 [*] Liebevolle Charaktere 🎭 [*] Ordentlicher Umfang ⏳ [*] Charmantes Daedalic-Adventure 💚 [*] 💯 mit einem Spieldurchlauf machbar🏆 Die Rezension spiegelt meine ganz persönliche Meinung zu The Night of the Rabbit wider.
