Train Sim World 2: Clinchfield Railroad: Elkhorn - Dante Route Add-On

1 / 7

Испытайте на себе особенности работы классической железной дороги, управляя тяжеловесными угольными и проходящими грузовыми поездами в самом сердце угольного бассейна штата Вирджиния — на маршруте Clinchfield Railroad для Train Sim World 2.

Train Sim World 2: Clinchfield Railroad.

In a number of ways this is an awesome route. It has a nice eighties atmosphere, two great engines and a avriety of tasks, where a mix of close to real world freight operations are the main part of it. There also are a number of mainline drives. So far, you could be quite happy, but once you start playing frustration wins, especially with the mainline drives: - In some cases the service is underpowered and simply will not run. - In may cases the final stopping point is about 4 ft (1.2 meters!) before a red signal aspect. You cannot stop earlier and a four foot mistake results in game over. Also, in the Sherman Hill route a new bug was introduced, which may cause coupling tasks to hang in the "Wat a moment"instruction. Given that these issues are NOT fixed even when they are know with the developers, leads to my conclusion that you should NOT buy this DLC. I rarely advise not to buy a DLC, but this has to many unsolved issues and quality of gameplay is below standard.

10/10! The scenarios were set in 1975/76. Beautiful cliffs, and water. The locomotives look cool, and it takes me back to the Mid 1970s. Can't you believe how much I love them!?

Clinchfield Railroad is a wonderful route add on. This is mountain coal country. The route includes several branches off the mainline. The mainline and branches have multitudes of coal loading stops allowing for many work opportunities. Also the scenery is great. The line has grades but is not just one big mountain pull. The grades will vary on each branch and the mainline. The F7 locomotives look and feel like they have worked this line hauling coal for decades prior to the mid 1970's which is the era represented by this route. Numerous scenario opportunities. Specifically they include two 8 part series of scenarios that represent a full shift on the line. I have spent many hours enjoying this route and see it as one of the best ever created in the TSW and Classic TS world.

One of the better modelled routes for sure and there's a decent variety of freight service types. What's a little frustrating is the lack of power some of the services provide and some of the stopping locations are too close to red signals. Additionally, the DLC lacks shorter services, with many taking more than an hour to complete.

Interesting and beautiful heavy freight route set in the 70-80s with hauling 5500t coal freight on 15‰ curves and load-on-moving operations on the mines. Plenty to do with hauling mainline freight, bringing an empty or half-full train downhill and load along the way, or moving around the mines shunting and loading. The route is beautiful, and the F7s & SD40 is surely impressing, and this is a powerful heavy-haul & low speed route in the mountains, so you'll have plenty of time enjoying the view and feel the power of your train. ----------- However you have no manual to check on detailed operations of the locos, and the tutorial in game obviously haven't done enough, for example how the 24 and 6/26 channel of SD40's brake valve functions (they just simply told you to turn it to "connect" position in tutorial). Unfortunately there appears no MU control between the front and end of the train, meaning that the banker locos on the back fail to provide power and serves as dead weight along your way, which makes some timetable runs extremely hard because you lose almost half power that should have been provided from the back, for example being underpowered to have the 6000 horsepower of a set of F7ABBA to haul the whole 5500t train up the 15‰ curve because the two SD40s on the back does not apply power. (However you actually can make it by applying more than 1000Amps to get the train moving, although this will overload the loco.) Fortunately there are only a few timetables scenarios having banker locos, so for most scenarios this willnot ruin your experience. HOWEVER this is still annoying knowing that some of the heaviest hauls in timetable scenario will be abnormally underpowered. SO HOPE DTG WILL FIX THIS. ------------ Overall rating: 8/10 ------------ Edited in Nov.10, 2023: Okay I have figured out a way to get the banker locos moving, although this is a bit of stupid: you can just simply switch into the banker, start it up, set its brakes and apply power, then just switch back to your front loco and do the same thing. Whenever you need to make changes to the banker loco's power, you'll need to "jump" between the front and the rear. Well there is NO MU control, so this might be the only way to get the 5500 tonnes coal train speeding up normally on the 15‰ grades.

Beautiful route and engaging engine. Quite challenging with the downhill trips and braking mechanics. Had a couple run away trains.

You might think this would be a quaint little route. Something fun, something nostalgic, something "fabulous". This route is NONE of these things, after DTR put their little spin into it. The scenarios are tedious. You spend more time out of the cab than in, thanks to having to flip all of the switches and do all of the uncoupling yourself. (The route map does work, but the old TS uncoupling shortcuts do not). The bugs... they're everywhere. Getting the MU'd locomotives to work correctly takes a couple of trips between all of them. The brake pipe pressures take forever to rise, if they even do at all. The end of you mainline journey? Guess what, you went 4 feet too far beyond the "Stop here" point and passed a red flag signal, so you fail. (And no, it won't detect you unless you stop damn near on top of the waypoint... Not even 10 feet is good enough.) And then there's the "un"realism. All of this switching and uncoupling I mentioned? In REALITY there would be at least one train helper, if not a couple of ground crew people to handle this. I'd even be fine with the game if they wanted me to wait for an animated person to run around doing all this, but the fact of the matter is the engineer (or "driver") should not be leaving the controls of the locomotive to do this. That's how the runaway trains like "8888" and Lac-Mégantic happen. This is a bigger problem with the game as a whole, but is especially noticed in the scenarios of Clinchfield. Another reality-breaking issue is that whomever programmed this route has no idea of the differences between a 2-track mainline and a single-track mainline with passing sidings (the Clinchfield RR is this), and treats every passing siding as if the trains have to take them if they're to the right of the other track. Going from Dante to Elkhorn, you get put on I think four 15MPH passing sidings, usually for no reason. If a real-life dispatcher put a train on every passing siding just because it's the "right" track where there are two, that person is not going to have a job for very long. If there's no train to pass, then you keep the train on the main. If there are trains to pass, the FIRST train to the siding generally goes onto the siding to wait, unless there's a specific and rare reason not to. Not to mention that the entry signals to each siding do not properly notify you that you're taking the diverging route. All-in-all, this is a very disappointing route for all the promise it appears to have. Unfortunately, DTR will never fix it. Don't bother buying it if you haven't already, unless you have no idea how railroads actually operate and just want to add more garbage scenarios to your collection.
