Truck-Kun Is Supporting Me From Another World?!

1 / 8

I bought this game after a particularly stressful work day and honestly it works for what it is. A stupid little game that's less then 4 hours long where you commit vehicular manslaughter because the magical reincarnated elf of your first victim told you to do so. The premise is amusing, though I kind of wish they did more with the gimmick. As it stands its little more then a Crazy Taxi esc game, where your goal is to complete a variety of objective as they come within the time limit. The actual bit where you isekai people is there for a bit of flavor but honestly during actual gameplay it rarely matters outside of being a random objective from time to time and an occasional source of stars. That being said. Crazy Taxi is still Crazy Taxi. There's something mildly amusing to just driving down and mowing down pedestrians in any game, especially as said if your kind of stressed and wanna just take your frustrations out. Biggest Gripes are a few of the objectives are particularly annoying (Billboards frustrate the hell out of me) and the controls sometimes act wonky, especially when you have police hitting you. All in all. Solid 7/10 game.

I loved the pure chaos and adrenaline in this game. Crashing around, running over as many things as possible, getting into high-stakes chsses with the cops, and polishing off as many goals as possible made this game feel fun and fresh. I did find the humor of this game a bit annoying at times. Whileit was admittedly pretty smart of the writers to criticize some cliches in the Isekai genre, the ending just kind of felt underwhelming to me and wish they could have played things more straight. Either way, I'd say Truck-Kun is a great way to kill a few hours and was actually pretty fun to 100%.

It's a silly little crazy taxi game where you run over innocent civilians to isekai them for another anime girl to gain XP after she was isekai'd so she can reverse-isekai herself so that she isn't late for work on Monday because it's America and she doesn't want a no-call, no-show on her record because if she's fired she'll lose her health insurance. It's very short and simple. It takes about 5 hours to 100% the game. There is one map and a fairly small set of objectives to boost the timer to keep a run going. It's hard to build a pretty complete overall open-world map, so I get why there's one map. There were a few jokes that made me giggle and I felt the need to press on when I could've stopped at any time. If I play a game to completion and wanted to play a little more, that's pretty good. You can determine the cost-to-fun ratio for if the game is worth it on sale. Overall silly/funny game, pick it up for cheap if you want to kill 2-3 hours playing crazy taxi.

"Truck-Kun is Emotionally Supporting Carissa In Her Home World" would be a surprisingly accurate title. So would "Crazy Taxi but more free-flowing and funny." The game hides its heart and depth behind a wacky premise. Mechanically you can develop a (satisfying) mastery of movement allowing you to achieve so many goals the game forces you to take a break. While in the narrative the game takes apart how corporate interests can harm a family and influence a child towards an unsatisfying life. Showing that just one true support can help a person towards finding a life that is meaningful and success can be defined as joy and passion. I cannot praise this game enough for how superb the handling of the truck and themes is. Even though I finished the game after only 5 hours it is going to rest in my mind as one of the more meaningful contributions to the Isekai genre Note: it says over 5 hours on my Steam Deck. Idk why the time didn't transfer over to my PC or this review.

this is really one of those times where i wish i could give a mixed rating to a game rather than a positive or a negative one, or even just a neutral one entirely. that said, i have to settle on negative, because the bad and the mediocre outweigh the good here attempting to execute on a joke concept like this is inherently admirable, i must say, but that execution is mostly just skin deep here. if this were just the type of game you faff about in for an hour before putting the controller down and moving on to something else, then this probably wouldn't be such a negative review from me. the problem is that, despite the shallowness of the gameplay, there *is* something undeniably satisfying about the loop. so, i found myself coming back to it after an hour or so of playtime to finish the game the problems really start with the police. i'm not sure if the intent was to subliminally message to the player to support defunding the police, or if they're just accidentally incredibly annoying, but nothing about their presence actually seems to add to the difficulty of the game. so much of what the game's satisfying challenge has going for it is in learning the map layout and pushing runs to the hard time limit as a result. the police, therefore, don't actually do much of anything at best, and mostly just feel unfair at worst. starting the final level at heat 2 by having you immediately blown off-course by a randomly spawning police car flying at you from off screen doesn't feel particularly fun to me, especially when the sideswipe attack barely seems to function and let's talk about that final level. talk about a frustrating difficulty spike. i probably had to try a dozen times to finally beat it, only to finally do so with mere seconds to spare. i don't know if i'm just terrible at this game or if the requirements for the level really are that absurd, but after what i would consider a pretty relaxed difficulty curve with incremental, if unbalanced, objectives, i felt like i was hitting a total brick wall. in most games, i would welcome that, but i felt like i was up against the game's own limitations rather than my own. i wasn't sure how i could "get better" when i had no control over where delivery end points would spawn. for example, i thought i was in the clear when, with 30 seconds left, i initiated the last delivery on the final level at the boardwalk, only to discover that my destination was *at the top of a parking garage.* i was milliseconds away from reaching it, too, except that the timer still goes for a few seconds after making the delivery before the level actually ends, so who knows if i would have actually cleared the level if i'd made it with completely perfect performance i want to shout out the price here too. now, i am not at all the type of person who will tell you that paying $20 for a 4 hour game is not worth it. i think that's a dogwater excuse for games criticism. keep that in mind when i say that i feel like paying $20 for a game as shallow as this feels a bit silly to me. in a world where i can pay $20 for a deep, rich, satisfying 4 hour experience, i wish that this game took its concept much further than it does, and that it had playtested the final level a bit better. overall, it's a silly concept for a kind of crazy taxi spiritual successor, but really *all* it is is a concept, and not much more

A short, simple, fun game with a surprisingly good soundtrack and adorable characters.

Truck-kun is very good imo. Playthrough doesn't take long and arcae-ish gameplay doesn't become stale so you can enjoy it to the fullest with great soundtrack and simple but very cute story. The game may be pricey, but at a discount you should really give it a try
