G'day mate! Things can be a bit confusing at times, so let me remind you what's going on... You are TY, the last of the Tasmanian Tigers. Raised by a family of Bilbies, you can only vaguely recall your real parents. You've always thought that all the other Tassie Tigers died a long time ago.
But then the Bunyip Elder found you, and told you that your family is alive, but trapped in the Dreaming. Now hold your horses... don't get upset... you see they're not stuck there forever, if you're up for a bit of an adventure!
You see, deep in the Outback, there's this kind of glowy portal thing that is a doorway to the Dreaming. And around that portal there are some carvings in the rock, where five ancient mystical Talismans used to lay. Now, all you have to do is find the five Talismans, put them in the carvings, and the portal to the Dreaming will open!
Now, before you go off like a frog in a sock, there's just this one SMALL problem. You see there's this evil cassowary - Boss Cass - who's also after the Talismans. Yes.
THAT ALSO [/b trapped a whole bunch of your Bilby mates in cages all across the outback... something about overdue library books... Anyways, if you want to open the portal, you'll have to beat him and his henchmen to the Talismans!
Don't worry though, you won't be alone! You'll have a bunch of friends to help you along the way, including me - your old mate, Maurie. Now let's get down to brass tacks, find those Talismans, and rescue your family!

So maybe part of this review is influenced by the nostalgia I have for this game from when I was younger, but this game is fantastic. Granted, it's not as feature/gameplay dense as newer games but it just has this lovable vibe to it that makes me wanna keep playing it and find all of the collectables. The control are HELLA smooth and the game feels very fluid. The game isn't that difficult (at all) and after you get the kaboomerangs you can pretty much one-shot every enemy that isn't a boss, but if I wanted a challenge I'd play Elden Ring or fight Simon in Expedition 33. The characters are fun (yet don't have much dialogue) and I think it's funny how Ty speaks almost exclusively in one-liners.. even if they don't really match what he's responding to (YOU RIPPER!!) The music is also fun (especially the song "Two Up") and just brings back all the warm memories that I have for this game. It's also not that long of a game and the story is very straightforward. I'm really glad it was ported to P.C. It's games like this one that turned me into a hardcore gamer. So if you want a great ol' platforming game that respects your time, is fun, knows what it is, and doesn't try to bleed money from you through micro-transactions like a lot of newer games... just buy it. Either for full price or one sale. I can't wait to play the second game (that I never played) and replay the 3rd game. I'm a little turned off by the 4th game not being a 3d platformer, but I'll probably end up playing that as well just because I'm a Ty fan.

Remaster looks great and runs well, was a lot of fun coming back to this classic after never finishing it as a kid since my dumbass couldn't figure out how to beat the shark boss. It's on the shorter side (100% will take you around 15-20 hours) but it's worth the price if you're into 3D platformers. I feel so much more knowledgeable about Australia after playing this game.

Yes I played this as a child and again as a teen. Its still really good now, really solid platformer. Its nothing crazy or ground breaking but its just such a well crafted game and world with really good characters and interactions. Personally with always hold a place in my top 10 games of all time. And the best soundtrack make Sly the Tasmanian tiger Bush redemption plz

A classic 3D collectathon in the Banjo-Kazooie/Spyro mold. Boomerangs replace the usual moveset, with elemental variants unlocked as you progress. Level design is solid and varied across different Australian-themed environments, with collectibles (thunder eggs, opals, cogs) tied to meaningful progression. Combat and platforming are simple but fun. A solid foundation for the series. Recommended.
