Yellow Taxi Goes Vroom is a very good car "jump-and-run". + Great mechanics; few buttons combine into a diverse set of movement mechanics + Great theme, visual style, popping fun graphics, characters, environment + Free roam levels + Free discovery (which can be good but also confusing or frustrating) * Easy, hard, and still unreachable objectives are mixed in levels without explicit guidance regarding their difficulty or possibility * Some routing/level-design is very difficult * In most levels you have a depleting "fuel" time limit, but it can reasonably easily be extended to a point where you can freely explore - Top-down camera sections add variety, but they ruined the fun for me - Hub world with distant level entry points; acceptable, but a teleport system after unlocking or entering would be much more convenient, especially when you hit a difficulty barrier and have to search for doable objectives I eventually gave up on progressing even in the main story path because anything more seemed like a hassle to traverse, find, or complete.

Was an awesome game until I found out that if you quit you start from the beginning of the level instead of the check point. You keep collectibles but still need to backtrack to where you were to progress I get that this is probably the same way it worked in Mario 64, but I don't think it makes much sense in modern game design. Between my job and kids I can only play in short to medium sessions.

Yellow Taxi Goes Vroom is one of the most insanely fun games I've ever played. It feels like the 3D spiritual successor to Pizza Tower. At first, everything is chaotic but, once you get used to the controls, you start to understand the genius of the level design. The N64 graphics are on point and the soundtrack bangs from start to finish. This game is the epitome of personality. Truthfully, I've only beaten one of the special postgame levels because this game cranks up the difficulty to an absurd degree in some situations. I felt satisfied getting about 80% of the collectibles but could see myself returning for 100% completion in the future. Yellow Taxi Goes Vroom just crept into my top 10 indies.

I'm a huge fan of driving games. I'm also a huge fan of 3D platforming collect-a-thon games. This is the perfect intersection (pun intended) of the two unlikely-to-be-paired genres. This game consistently delivers in its presentation and humor while feeling satisfying and rewarding. Overall I love it!!

This is a fun indie platformer in the style of classic N64 games. The game has a lot of charm and I really enjoyed the humour. The only thing I didn't like was the massive difficulty spike near the end. You're required to perform some advanced movements that are pretty difficult to execute, and it often feels like you're fighting the controller. It turned what was otherwise a fun and relaxing experience, where I enjoyed exploring and collecting green gears, into something frustrating.

This was a fantastic, innovative game. The controls were tight and limited but manages to make them incredibly versatile and fun. The game is fast paced, fun, looks nice, has humour, and just a genuinely fun, high energy time. Here is my overview: Overview Graphics - 8.5/10, sometimes jank, but very pretty and high energy. The golden spring and gears are beauties! Gameplay - 9/10, it really forces you to learn its controls, but its not so bad and very fun to use. I do wish the Flip O' Will and air carried over momentum more. Audio - 10/10, the music is so high quality, the tracks are fun, and Mega Ran's Driving Me Crazy is fcking lit. The audio for movement and environment is equally very well made. PC Requirements - 10/10, easy to run, and even on my 1080p GPU, it ran 1440p at 120fps. Difficulty - 9/10, I will admit, it can be hard for a beginner, but due to its addicting controls, you start to learn the rhyme and rhythem of the game. Be prepared for sharp turns and tall heights! Grind - There is a bit of grind for the hats and bunnies, but 99% of the gears were not too hard to get. You can even get certain gears early with skill! Story - 7.5/10, it has a decent story, the nods to other franchises is gold, but I will admit the ending was a bit odd. However, it was still very enjoyable. Worth it? - Yes! Waiting for a sale makes sense of course, as I do it for everything I buy, but the game is worth the money! Overall - 9.5/10!
