187gb is absurd, and judging by how the game has had no updates to shrink the game size, I imagine it will breach 200gb in the next major update or so.

Where Winds Meet has genuinely surprised me with how much there is to do and how easy it is to get lost in the world. The open-world setting is beautiful, with some fantastic scenery, detailed environments, and moments where I’ve found myself stopping just to look around instead of rushing to the next objective. One of my favorite parts is the freedom to switch between solo open-world play and co-op/online play. I can explore at my own pace when I want a more immersive RPG experience, then jump online when I feel like playing with other people. That flexibility makes the game feel much less restrictive than a lot of other online RPGs. There’s also an impressive amount of variety. You’re not just running from fight to fight. There are side stories, exploration, puzzles, martial arts, different weapons and builds, NPC relationships, professions, healing, collecting, housing, mini-games, hidden areas, and all kinds of strange little encounters scattered around the world. I’m still discovering systems I didn’t even realize were there. Combat has been fun too, especially once you start experimenting with different Martial Arts and Mystic Skills. The ability to switch styles and build a character around the way you actually enjoy playing gives the game a lot of room to grow. It can definitely throw a lot of systems at you early on, and some mechanics aren’t explained as clearly as they could be, so there are moments where you may find yourself wondering what you’re supposed to do. But once things start clicking, the sheer amount of freedom becomes one of the game’s biggest strengths. Overall, Where Winds Meet feels like a world meant to be explored rather than simply completed. I can spend one session progressing the story, another wandering around finding secrets, and another doing side activities or playing online. Between the gorgeous world, martial-arts atmosphere, open-ended exploration, and the ability to move between solo and co-op play, I’ve been having a great time with it. Definitely recommended if you enjoy open-world RPGs where wandering off the main road is half the fun.

Not Recommended. They are wasting an incredible game. Where Winds Meet has an incredible foundation. The combat is great, the world is beautiful, the wuxia setting is fantastic, and there is a ridiculous amount of variety. That's exactly why it's so frustrating. The problem isn't a lack of content. It's that too much of the content feels restricted, unrewarding, repetitive, or disconnected from the actual gameplay loop. The multiplayer is almost pointless For a game with such a strong MMO identity, an absurd amount of content is solo-only. Story content, quests, encounters, and even some new boss first encounters can force you to play alone. I'm not asking for mandatory co-op. Just give players the choice. If someone wants to experience difficult content with friends, let them. The game has content, but very little feels meaningful World bosses, campaign bosses, events and many other activities often don't provide rewards that feel worth the effort. You defeat a difficult boss and think: "Okay... what did I actually get for doing that?" Pets, housing and several other systems have the same problem. They're there, but don't meaningfully contribute to the long-term gameplay loop. The endgame is "spend your energy and leave" Progression is heavily time-gated. Eventually the gameplay loop becomes: Log in → spend energy → collect rewards → log out. If you actually want to keep playing, the game gives you surprisingly few meaningful ways to do so. This also creates a terrible experience for new players. Veterans are already at the progression ceiling while new players have to slowly crawl through old progression gates. Then they reach multiplayer activities and discover that everyone else is already at the current level. Sword Trial, Hero's Realm and similar activities become extremely difficult to find players for if you're behind the current progression. The gacha and gear RNG are brutal The gear system already has layers of RNG. Then you add the gacha. The result is an extremely unforgiving progression system where RNG can stack on top of RNG. You can spend huge amounts of resources trying to build around a specific setup and still be nowhere near the build you actually want. Grinding should eventually guarantee progress. It shouldn't just give you more chances to get lucky. PvP has a serious ping problem This game is extremely sensitive to latency. Small differences in ping can have a huge effect on reactions, parries and combat consistency. It's gotten to the point where players are paying for cloud gaming services specifically to get better routing and lower latency for competitive play. You shouldn't need to pay another company every month just to remove a regional disadvantage. Ping also affects PvE combat and general responsiveness. Dead regions + fragmented matchmaking Some regions simply feel dead. You can enter multiplayer activities or events and barely find anyone. You can't heavily restrict multiplayer, fragment the playerbase, and expect the MMO side of the game to thrive. The game needs better matchmaking, better cross-region solutions where latency allows it, and ways to keep new and veteran players connected. World Chat is basically dead too The social side of the game is getting worse. World Chat has become almost completely soulless. Instead of actual conversations, it's constantly flooded with image spam and other low-effort spam. Reporting doesn't solve the problem when spammers can simply create an alt account and do the exact same thing again. This needs to be handled at the chat-system level. Give images and other spam their own dedicated channel, or heavily restrict what can be posted in World Chat. World Chat should be a place where players actually talk, find groups and build a community — not an endless scrolling wall of spam. New content isn't fixing the problem I appreciate that the developers keep releasing updates. But another event, another few quests, another boss and another currency don't automatically make the game more engaging. The game needs repeatable, meaningful content that gives players a reason to keep playing after they've consumed the latest update. Right now, too much content feels like something to consume rather than something to engage with. And the technical side... Performance can suffer, especially with newer regions and content. And the game's storage requirements are getting ridiculous. Steam lists 130 GB minimum and 200 GB recommended. For a game that is supposed to keep expanding, better asset management, compression and optional content packages are desperately needed. The frustrating part? I actually like this game. If it were simply bad, I wouldn't care enough to write this. The combat is good. The world is good. The setting is good. The foundation is there. But the progression is too restricted, multiplayer is too limited, rewards are too meaningless, RNG is too punishing, the gacha is too unforgiving, latency matters too much, new players struggle to catch up, the social side is deteriorating, and the endgame becomes repetitive extremely quickly. The game doesn't need more systems. It needs the systems it already has to actually matter. Give us meaningful rewards. Give us meaningful multiplayer. Give us proper catch-up mechanics. Give us more deterministic progression. Fix the regional and latency problems. Clean up World Chat. Stop forcing so much content into solo play. And most importantly: Give players a reason to keep playing because they WANT to play — not because they still have 600 energy to spend. Where Winds Meet has an incredible foundation. They're just wasting it.

(Außer man will eben die super exklusiven, giga aufälligen Glitzerfits).
