Released in 2013, WRC 4 is over a decade old. It takes a few steps to make it work properly on modern systems. [*]For 2K or 4K monitors, go to C:\Users\(user name)\AppData\Roaming\Milestone\WRC4. Open the config.ini file and modify the width and height value to your monitor resolution. For 1080P, the launcher will do. [*]Open the game and the launcher will pop up. Set refresh rate to 59Hz and disable v-sync in video settings, otherwise some weird stuff like missing audio will happen. [*]Exit the launcher and open Nvidia control panel (or the AMD counterpart). In Manage 3D Settings, choose WRC 4 in program settings and enable v-sync there. Apply and exit. Now the game should run perfectly, at least in my case. Being a licensed game, WRC 4 was presumably designed to appeal to a broad audience, so it goes for a more accessible, arcade-style driving experience rather than realism: the roads are wide; you can cut corners pretty aggressively without hitting any obstacle; go too far off the track and the game will immediately send you back; and if you mess up, just rewind and do it again. WRC 4 is not as heavily assisted as The Crew and Need for Speed from around the same period, which have artificial forces to keep the cars in control, but the physics are still very forgiving. Sure, carrying too much speed into a corner can make you lose the rear, and braking too aggressively can lock up the wheels. But there is always plenty of grip, and the cars are easy to handle with some understeer. More importantly, even with all the assists off, simply lifting off and turning the wheel can scrub off a great amount of speed, making cornering almost effortless. As a Dirt Rally player who has gotten used to harsher and more demanding physics, playing this game feels like going back to kindergarten. The game has a clear progression path, from Junior WRC to WRC 3, WRC 2, and finally WRC. Junior WRC and WRC 3 are very boring because of how slow the cars are. You can often take 3-rated corners at full throttle, and braking is not necessary even on sharper corners. Turning the wheel and downshifting is usually enough as the cars automatically decelerate a lot when turning, to the point where they don’t have enough momentum for a handbrake turn at hairpins, which your co-driver often tells you to do. Fortunately, Junior WRC and WRC 3 are short. WRC 2 and WRC are longer, with WRC having the longest race with 13 events (each has 6 stages), and each event roughly takes 30 minutes to complete. Handbrake turns are much easier in WRC 2 and WRC, thanks to the cars having enough momentum to swing the tail. You start to have some proper rallying in these two classes because the cars have better pace and acceleration, less understeer, and are more tail-happy. They become more responsive, snappy and fun to drive, so you no longer sleepwalk through the whole race, going flat out most of the time. Instead, you actually need to manage the throttle and braking, take the proper driving line, and keep the car stable and under control on winding roads. WRC 2 and WRC are enjoyable for being able to provide some challenge without ever becoming difficult due to its forgiving physics. There are some drawbacks, though. Tarmac, snow, different types of gravel, dry or wet surfaces - they all feel pretty much the same to drive on, which is probably the biggest weakness of the game. Car sounds are terrible too, and even though some are better than others, most of them sound like very aggressive vacuum cleaners. Visibility can also become a problem when the car takes enough damage, with some tracks being particularly hard to see due to their similar color palette to the surrounding terrain. Additionally, there is no legit way to unlock online achievements anymore, since the server was shut down long ago. If you come to terms with it not being the most realistic rally game, there’s more to like about WRC 4. It has more locations to race on than Dirt Rally 2.0, and you don't have to spend time learning and tuning your cars because they all work fine right out of the box. Unlike the latest F1 games, there are no strange RPG elements like drivers and teams having different stats, nor is there any boring team management stuff incorporated into the game. Players just drive, and that simplicity is pretty much appreciated. For the most part, I actually quite enjoyed my time with this game, despite being a longtime Dirt Rally player who prefers more realistic physics. For those who want a taste of rally without being crushed by difficulty and steep learning curve, this is a good place to start, and it is dirt cheap on sale.

Mesmo sendo uma edição antiga, WRC 4 pode entregar bons momentos de lazer. O gráfico é até agradável, mas sinto que necessita de otimização. Nessa edição jogar pela câmera do cockpit é bem mais fácil de controlar o carro que as edições seguintes; isso é um ponto positivo. Sempre ao final de cada etapa ele tenta enviar dados: uma pena os servidores terem sido desligados... Por se tratar de um lançamento antigo, então é tolerável vários pontos de melhoria. No entanto, se é fã da série e encontrou em promoção, acredito que vale a pena colecionar.

this is the best entry on WRC you can get on Steam, the post ones are very inconsistent, sometimes laggy, sometimes buggy, sometimes both, and from WRC 7 onwards you get mostly the same game up until WRC generations. I swear, the same menus, the same things to do, everything is more of the same. The most recent entry on WRC Series is locked behind EA anti cheat, making it unplayable on Linux, it could be just sad, but they made it unplayable more than a year AFTER release, which made a lot of people angry, reasonably. While WRC4 is not perfect, its very consistent on what it delivers to you. I really love it. This is not my first time playing it on steam, i have much more hours than what shows here, and i will have many more, the replayability is okayish, again, arguably better than anything that came after, except the newest one, which i sadly have to use a VM to play.

the actual game is fun but unfortunately the game is built for ancient hardware and will stutter constantly even after disabling vsync and anti aliasing, installing dxvk just led to the game crashing or video freezing and the audio being stuck on a loop, for a 2 dollar game this will just be an unfortunate case of what could have been, maybe it would run better on my laptop with older architeture? i honestly dont know.

WRC 4 oynadığım ilk Rally oyunuydu . Normalde Forza Horizon 4 oynayan ve seven biriyim ama Forza daki Rally yarışlarının yüzeysel olmasından sıkılıp daha derin bir Rally oyunu arıyordum . Sonra hesabımdaki WRC oyunları geldi . WRC serisiyle normalde alakam yoktu indirimde aşırı ucuz oluyorlar ve araba yarışı oyunları diye almıştım 9 ve 10 u . Sonra WRC nin steamdeki en eski oyununun 4 olduğunu görüp bir de indirimde 1 dolar olduğunu görünce aldım . Ve açıkçası çok da eğlendim . Oyun Milestone tarafından yapıldı ve bu oyundan sonra serinin yapımcısı değişiyior ve biraz daha simülasyon tarafına kayıyor seri . Ama bu oyun bildiğiniz arcade bir rally oyunu . İlk oynadığımda şaşırdım buna , daha gerçekçi fizikler beklerden daha taşa çarptığımda saçma sapan tepkiler veriyor araba ama fizik motoru zayıf olsa da oynanışı ve drift atması çok eğlenceli . Oyunun online ı artık çalışmıyor tabii ki . Ama kariyer modu var ve bir çok farklı ülkenin bulunduğu Rally takımlarından birine katılıyorsunuz . Aralarında Türkiye Rally takımı da var :) .Hemen uyruğumu Türk yapıp yanıma da Rally yardımcısı olarak İngiliz bir uşak aldım . Birazda onlar uşak olsun dünyayı sömürdüler . Türk takımı olması oyunda güzel bir detay . Kariyer modu sezon sezon ilerliyor . Toplamda dünya şampiyonluğu için 3 sezon var . 3. sezonun sonunda 1. olursanız şampiyon oluyorsunuz . Her sezon yarışlardaki performansınıza göre size başka ülkenin takımlarından teklif geliyor ve daha iyi yarışırsanız daha güçlü ve daha iyi arabaların olduğu takımlara transfer olabilyorsunuz . Her sezon yükseldim ve her sezon önceki takımımdan daha güçlü bir takıma geçtim . Arabaların kalitesi en fazla 100 puan olabiliyor . Başlangıç takımlarından Türkiye malesef 62 puanlık bir arabaya sahip . Kontrollere bir iki yarıştan sonra alışıyorsunuz ve oynanışı çok zevkli . Bu bir Rally yarışı yani rakiplerle doğrudan yan yana yarışa başlamıyorsunuz . Hatta oyun boyunca rakip arabaları görmüyorsunuz bile . Turu en az sürede bitiren kazanıyor . Bu bir Rally oyunu olduğu için de saf hızdan ziyade arabayı ne kadar iyi kontrol ettiğiniz kazananı belirliyor . Virajlar bazen çok keskin oluyor ve ona göre drift atarak geçmeniz gerekiyor . Drift atmaya bir kez alıştınız mı çok zevkli oluyor oyun . Ve çok fazla araba çeşitliliği yok ama daha iyi kontratlar imzaladıkça daha iyi arabalara erişiyorsunuz . Özellikle Katar'ın 99 puanlık arabası yağ gibi kayıyor , final sezonunda hep onu kullandım ve dünya şampiyonu oldum . Kariyer modunun dışında turnuva modu falan da var ama pek bakmadım . Aşağı yukarı kariyer modunda yaptığınız şeylerin aynısını yapıyorsunuz . Ayrıca bazı 2-3 tane map gerçekten insanı sinir ediyor . Çünkü bazı maplerde oyunun renk tonu o kadar kötü kullanılmış ki yolun sağa mı sola mı gittiğini anlayamayıp son hızda şarampole yuvarlanabiliyorsunuz . Onun dışında bazı maplerde yollar gerçekten çok dar özellikle o kış haritalarından biri . Arabanız güçlendikten sonra bu mapler de sorun olmuyor ama . Zaten bir kere alıştınız mı hep 1. oluyorsunuz . Mesela yaklaşık 22 yarışın 1 inde 2. diğer geri kalan 21 yarışta 1. olarak şampiyon oldum . Yılına göre bile grafikleri kötü ve yer yer saçma fizik motoru insanın canını sıkabiliyor ama bir kere alıştınız mı gerçekten çok eğlenceli ve Rally oyunlarına girmek için iyi bir oyun çünkü oyun arcade bir sürüşe sahip . Zaten bu yüzden Forza Horizon 4 ten sonra bunu oynamak attan inip eşşeğe binmişim gibi hissettirdi başta ama alışınca sarıyor . Ama alacaksanız indirimde 1 dolara alın çünkü tam fiyatını hak etmiyor bence . Eğlendirse de yaşlandığını hissettiriyor oyun
