The Best WWE 2K game currently available on Steam Unfortunately WWE 2K 24 has already been removed from sale... so this will probably be removed from sale sometime next year. If you like the WWE games, I would recommend getting it while you still can. Story mode (My Rise) The main reason I would recommend getting this game is that while other aspects of this game will come back in later iterations (WWE 2K 26 is basically the same game in most respects) the "My Rise" story modes are unique to each title and this one is the best in my opinion. Rather than the two paths available (face and heel) in 2K 26, this has three different personalities... and you play through the story as two different characters simultaneously who can have the same or different personalities. You also get different stories depending on which WWE superstars you choose as allies (just don't choose Drew McIntyre because his questline is extremely frustrating and sometimes bugged) and as you can imagine, this adds a LOT of replay value. In fact, I played through the story mode THREE TIMES and I am planning to do it again since I haven't seen everything yet. (Fortunately it has New Game +). https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3795290453 One of the things I really like about this game is that the renegade ending is actually much better than I expected it to be. The last time I remember being this pleasantly surprised by the secondary ending was with Saint's Row 3. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3804454468 The one problem with the story mode (in common with all the WWE 2K games) is that it can get kind of annoying to complete some of the purely arbitrary match objectives needed to advance... and if you choose Drew McIntyre, this will reach its apex with a match objective which is almost impossible... and is sometimes bugged which means you might have to exit (to neutralize the bugs) and replay it over and over again until you get lucky. I did it eventually but I don't recommend choosing Drew McIntyre. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IhW830LEvww Even if you skip Drew McIntyre however, there is a wealth of content in this story mode so I felt like it was a much better value than the My Rise mode in 2K 26. Graphics and Character Creator This game is a slight improvement on 2K 24 (no longer available for purchase) and looks just as good as 2K 26. As a man, I honestly feel like the girls in here are the hottest characters in gaming because they look the most like real people AND some of them look very physically fit and strong such that they could literally survive the Stone Age. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3787901691 As with the other WWE 2K games, the character creator is very deep and it also links to the Community Creations section which not only allows you to share your own creations but also to download characters made by other people. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3792510328 Business Model I'm not a fan of the cancerous "My Faction" lootbox-based live-service mode (which will definitely get killed after 2K 27 comes out as the "My Faction" mode for 2K 24 is already nonfunctional) but at least the business model for this game is better than that for 2K 26 which is probably why it has a better user-rating. This game does NOT use a "Battle Pass" system (unlike 2K 26 which does) and a lot of the things that are locked behind the cancerous live service modes in WWE 2K 26 are unlocked by simply playing the game in 2K 25. For instance, I unlocked the unique character "The Manifestation" in this game by simply playing through the "My Rise" story mode". In contrast, unlocking the same character in 2K 26 required getting lucky with random lootboxes. Remote Play Together One thing I really like about this game (as well as WWE 2K 26 and 2K 24) is that Remote Play Together actually works... at least if the host has a good internet connection. (In my case, it works when I host but NOT when my bro does.) This really adds value to the game since it allows you to play coop in Tornado Tag against the computer. (For some weird reason you can't do that in normal online play) and that feature will keep the game alive in multiplayer even after they inevitably remove it from sale and kill the servers after 2K 27 comes out. (WWE 2K 24 is removed from sale but you can still play it with a friend via local multiplayer or Remote Play Together.) Roster I actually like the roster for this game better than that for the successor 2K 26 because that game removed some of the the best-looking characters (like Cora Jade) as well as some of the characters with the best theme music (like Carlito). The roster for this game really is impressive and you can add to that with infinitely many custom characters and downloaded characters as noted earlier. Music A lot of this music is good IMHO (I especially like Carlito's theme track) and you can choose what music will show up in menus, loading screens, etc. by choosing which tracks to play if you go to "Jukebox" in the main menu. This is a really cool feature which I really wish was in more games. Conclusion This is a great game. So much so in fact that even if you haven't watched wrestling in years like me, this might draw you in. As someone who sunk a LOT of time into Tekken, Soul Calibur, etc. I've found that I like this series much better and this title is the best one based on the three I've tried (2K 24, 2K 25, and 2K 26.)

I haven’t watched or followed WWE programming in years, but the sheer depth of these video games manages to hook me nearly every year. Because of this, playing an outdated wrestling game doesn't really bother me and WWE 2K25 is fun far more often than it isn't. As a total package, it serves up a refined, content-heavy wrestling experience that stands out as the best option on the market due to almost a complete lack of competition or alternatives. The in-ring action continues the steady evolution started back in 2K22, and this year easily delivers the best, most responsive version of that foundation. Every strike, grapple, and transition feels smooth, and performing your moves feels intuitive. Because the game leans into simulation, it isn't an easy pick-up-and-play arcade title for casual newcomers. However, once you invest a little time learning the controls and locking down the timing for reversals, it becomes second nature and genuinely satisfying. The match variety here is mind blowing. From standard one-on-one singles to four-way action, the gameplay shines brightest, keeping the control tight, the pacing fantastic, and allowing you to execute dynamic back-and-forth sequences cleanly. However, once you max out the ring capacity with eight wrestlers, the in-ring action can become very chaotic and frustrating. An eight-person Money in the Bank ladder match can drag on for an eternity, where trying to set up ladders, grab weapons, or lock onto the right target becomes a chore when seven other AI opponents are constantly interrupting every action. Fortunately, overall match variety is exceptional, providing a massive suite of default match types alongside match customization rules so you can tweak almost any structure to your liking. The Creation Suite remains the absolute bread and butter of the franchise. The community creators out there are absolute wizards, crafting ridiculously detailed custom wrestlers, real-world celebrities, superheroes, custom arenas, championships, and movesets. Thanks to Community Creations, you can completely overhaul the game into an AEW, WCW, TNA, or ECW simulator. For anyone who doesn't watch modern WWE, this mode single-handedly gives the game infinite replayability. The various game modes offer a wide range of quality across the board. MyGM is easily my favorite mode in the game, and one I get completely addicted to. I’ve logged hours—if not days—drafting rosters, managing budgets, executing trades, booking rivalries, and growing my brand. It is addicting and easily the peak of the single-player experience for me personally. On the other hand, Universe Mode remains pretty much unchanged from previous years, making it a total hit-or-miss affair where you get out of it what you put into it. Showcase Mode, which centers around the Samoan Dynasty this year, continues to be a format I'm just not fond of. The gameplay devolves into mindlessly following objective prompts at the top of the screen for a few hours when I'd much rather rewatch real historical matches, leaving its primary value as a tutorial and a requirement to unlock hidden wrestlers and arenas. MyRise feels similarly tedious, relying heavily on simulated social media text walls where characters "tweet" back and forth to trigger random matches instead of delivering organic weekly television drama. Finally, MyFaction serves as the game's microtransaction-heavy, gacha-style card mode. Outside of popping in for a couple of easy achievements, I don't mess with it and have zero interest in engaging with its card-pack mechanics. Because there is virtually no real competition in the wrestling video game genre, WWE 2K25 wins by default—but it earns its keep regardless. While the chaotic multi-man matches, static Showcase format, and text-heavy MyRise mode hold it back from absolute perfection, the refined gameplay, addictive MyGM mode, and unrivaled Creation Suite make it an easy recommendation.
