Worked fine on the steam machine and with the steam controller, however there was at least two crashes I experienced so as always remember to save often. Short version: 7.3/10, loved the water, Dionysus Park was my favorite area. Would say its ironic that the movies plan for this series haven't been fully developed, people would enjoy the story and the connection between Delta and Eleanor. Achievementwise - 15-30 hours to 100%. Its doable would recommend two playthroughs First one easy for the story and collectables then the hardest. There is no new game plus so you start fresh everytime, but you can easy speedrun through it. The remastered doesn't have multiplayer achievements so keep this in mind on if you wanna play the og version or this one. There is one missable! The protector trails is a bit grindy so I say take a break before playing both dlcs, since both together is like 8-10 hours depends on the skill level you have during the trails. Longer/word vomit version: Spoiler warning for both BioShock 1 and 2. Definitely an amazing sequel, since it stays in line with the first game. when you learn the behind the scenes during the development time, you will understand how neat it was that we even got an good game knowing there was different management involved. Storywise its pretty good nothing too crazy and still leaves you some ideas to ponder about. They right all in with the Little Sisters and Big Daddys plot, which was continue to get interesting. And while the level design of saving about three lil sis and then protecting them when they drain adam in every area was fun and a was smooth returning challenge from the bioshock 1, it gets old towards the end. Its also in both dlcs which doesn't help knowing it slows down the gameplay in some was. There are tonics to help speed this up which is a +1. I will say Bioshock 2 is not as spooky as the first. Its not itll a bit before Dionysus park that the game brought back the sparkle. I for one was starting to get bored out of my mind, especially with how once again the "boss" battles are dull. For example I didn't register that I was fighting the preacher till the end of the fight because he look like every other splicer, since I was just speeding along to find the next audio log. Side note I think the audio logs were done amazingly like , they gave you way more lore, in sight of the people's lives and all the downfalls Rapture experienced. A good example is how they finally example how the chambers worked in the first game adding to more connection between the two games. Once Lamb floods the church area, the air of the game changes for good. One reason for me is that it brought back the wonder and awe in how Andrew Ryan was able to not only think of how to build rapture but how he convinced all these different and smart minded people into living there and to continue alot of their life's works there too. Visually this part is cool and yes its because of the water dynamics and the use of it to keep the story moving on. The fact that knowing water doesn't hurt our mc, but was still able to be use to created challenges shows how creative this game is. Keep in mind, the whole time we physically have control over Delta, he keeps his helmet and allows the UI to let us be emerge with how Daddys see the world through, and the design doesn't get in the way since it only borders slightly. Back to the flooding scene, I will say the screaming coming from the enemies, while the water raises and seeing a splicer on the ceiling actually panic with dialogue lines added so much to the scariness of the event. The sound quality of Bioshock 2 is top tier if not one of the best in video games ever. Even underwater sessions are good, like you get to hear the suit clanking around and the difference in breathing by where you are. You also hear the clink sounds of when the water drops hit the suit. With the loading screens you can sit there and listen to the songs fully play out before hitting the continue button, some songs fit in line with theme the area is suppose to be. Being a lil sister was neat since we get to see the world through their eyes and how the successful the scientist were to blocking out the cruelness of the reality so that the lil sisters stay working vs freaking out over what they were really doing. For example blood trails are changed to rose petal trails, and everywhere is ballroom, warmed lighted, and clean like. I will say I wish we could have seen more of the big sister transformations, even though its the same the Big daddy's. Hacking is alot better in this game compare to the first, but I think bioshocks hacking mini was more in tune lookwise towards the world. Endings wise, pretty decent your choices matter. Seeing how Eleanor will treat Sofia Lamb base on your choices was neat. Kinda confused to why we was on the outside while they was in the inside but to does add to the whats happening factor. There are a few people who didn't get really mention leaving that open to imagination. Sinclair's ending while sad also didn't impact me since he didn't really do anything gamewise other than tell us what the next task is or in my case repeat the same dialogue the other npcs told me to do but I wanted to explore a bit more. Dlcs wise Minerva's Den is a great addition to the series lore and has a good ending towards its own story. The Protector Trials in I didn't care for since its just combat, however its decent for the people who just wants shoot stuff basically a little randomizer.

Love this game, but unfortunately the remastered version is not really "remastered" as save files can easily be corrupted. Game is fine, but you'll have to save every 5-10 minutes manually unless you want to risk losing a save file to corruption which happened to me. Doubt they'd fix it anytime soon, but losing 3-4 hours worth of progress because a save file corruption is enough for me to not recommend this game. Stick with the original Bioshock 2, not the remastered

A crash made me lose >1h of progress. Crashes aside, apparently autosaving once or twice every map (or after certain events like rescuing a little sister) is too much to ask.

The game crashes approximately every 30 minutes. Sometimes you have a good run without crashes for nearly an hour, the other day it crashes every few minutes. The game only saves if you enter a new chapter, which can lead to losing hours of progress if the game suddenly crashes. I would have loved to play this game to the end, but I'm running out of patience. The amount of crashes with no fixes is no fun. What a shame.

BioShock 2 is a strange sequel for me because, in many ways, it is clearly a better game than the first one, but it also carries over one of the main problems I had with BioShock while introducing a technical issue that eventually made me stop playing. The first thing I noticed was how much better the presentation feels. Rapture still has the same distinctive visual identity, but BioShock 2 looks noticeably better and the cutscenes are more detailed and better integrated into the experience. The game feels like a more polished production overall, and the difference becomes even more obvious when comparing it directly with the first game. The gameplay is also more enjoyable this time. Playing as a Big Daddy changes the way combat feels, and the game makes several improvements to the original formula without completely abandoning what made BioShock recognisable. I found the moment-to-moment gameplay more satisfying, and there is a better sense of progression as you gain new abilities and become more comfortable with the mechanics. The biggest improvement for me, however, is the dialogue and voice acting. This was one of my main criticisms of the first game, where conversations often felt lifeless and characters rarely created the emotional connection the story was trying to establish. BioShock 2 feels much more natural in this area. The characters have more emotion in their voices, the dialogue fits the atmosphere of Rapture better and the writing feels more convincing. Conversations no longer feel like they exist purely to deliver information before the next section of gameplay, which makes the world itself feel more alive. At the same time, the sequel still struggles with something that bothered me throughout the first game: giving me a strong reason to care about the world and my place inside it. BioShock 2 does provide more context at the beginning, but I still spent a large part of the game wondering what my character actually wanted and why I should become emotionally invested in what was happening around me. You start as a Big Daddy, survive what should have been your death and are eventually given the objective of protecting the Little Sisters. The immediate goal is understandable, but the personal motivation behind it is much less clear. Why does this matter so much to my character? What does he actually want beyond protecting these children? Where exactly do I fit into the larger conflict taking place in Rapture? These are questions the game takes too long to answer, and because of that, I once again felt like I was being asked to care about a world before the story had given me enough reason to care. This is disappointing precisely because the writing itself is better. BioShock 2 clearly improves how characters speak and how scenes are presented, but stronger dialogue cannot completely solve a narrative structure that still struggles to establish the player's personal connection to the story. The first game had the same issue for me, and I was hoping the sequel would take the opportunity to build that connection much earlier. There are also some smaller changes that made the transition from the first game less comfortable than it needed to be. The keyboard shortcuts are different, so I had to change several controls because I was already used to the previous layout. It is not an important problem by itself, but it is the kind of unnecessary change that makes the sequel feel less consistent when playing both games close together. Unfortunately, the Remastered version also introduced a technical problem that I could not simply overlook. The game crashed multiple times during my playthrough, and the consequences were much worse than simply having to restart the game. Saves were not always reliable afterwards. I could manually save, including using the quick save function, continue playing and then have the game crash later, only to find that the save was no longer available and that I had lost part of my progress. That completely changes how I see the technical problems because I was no longer dealing with an occasional crash. I was losing progress that I had already saved and being forced to repeat sections of the game because the Remastered version failed to preserve that progress properly. Once that happens repeatedly, it becomes difficult to focus on the actual game because part of the experience is spent worrying about whether the next save will still exist after the next crash. I know there are community fixes and possible workarounds for these problems, but I am not interested in spending more time trying to repair a remaster that should have been stable in the first place. BioShock 2 Remastered has been available for years, and these save and crash issues have been reported by other players as well. Even if there is an easy fix, I should not have to modify files or install unofficial solutions just to make a game preserve my progress correctly. Because of that, I decided to stop playing this version. I may eventually play the original BioShock 2 instead, but I have no interest in going back to the Remastered version after already spending enough time dealing with crashes and lost progress. I have other games to play, and at some point you have to decide whether continuing to troubleshoot an old remaster is actually worth your time. That is what makes BioShock 2 particularly frustrating for me. There is a genuinely better game underneath these problems. The gameplay is more enjoyable than the first one, the presentation has improved, the cutscenes are stronger and the dialogue and voice acting are a clear step forward. At the same time, the sequel never completely fixes the narrative problem that prevented me from connecting with the first game, and the technical state of the Remastered version eventually stopped me from finishing it. I still think BioShock 2 deserves a 6/10 because the improvements are real and I enjoyed playing it more than the first game. My criticism is not based on whether I personally liked the direction of the sequel. It is based on whether the systems, writing and technical execution actually work for the experience the game is trying to provide. When something works, I have no problem recognising it. When something fails, especially when it directly affects my ability to continue playing, I have to take that into account as well. Score: 6/10 (1) Trash(2) Horrible(3) Very Bad(4) Bad(5) Average (6) Fine(7) Good(8) Very Good(9) Great(10) Masterpiece

Solid game bad port the game keep crashing at the last chapter idk why I had to play 2 hours twice just for the game to crash and for some reason there is no auto save so you have to guess when the game is going to crash to manually save the game After saving the game you might think you can start the game after it crashes an play again right ? Nooo!!! its going to crash again
