The story takes a very different approach compared to the previous two games. Instead of following a conventional narrative like the first game or the character driven story of Bound in Blood, Gunslinger is presented as a collection of short stories told by Silas Greaves, an aging bounty hunter recounting his past adventures to patrons in a saloon. The stories are episodic, with some being connected while others are more standalone, and they revolve around Silas meeting and hunting some of the most infamous outlaws of the Wild West. What makes the storytelling especially interesting is that Silas is an unreliable narrator. His audience will sometimes question parts of his stories, causing him to change his version of events while he is still telling them. The game then literally changes around us to reflect his revised story. A group of enemies might suddenly disappear, a new path might appear, or an entire sequence can rewind and play out differently. Writer Haris Orkin also explained that they felt this reflected the way the history of the Wild West was shaped by myths and exaggerations. This makes the story much more closely connected to the gameplay than in the previous games. In the first Call of Juarez, the story mostly existed separately from the gameplay, while Bound in Blood used its two protagonists and their relationship to drive the narrative. Gunslinger instead makes the act of storytelling itself part of the gameplay. You are playing through Silas's version of the events. This is also where a lot of the game's fun comes from for me. Listening to Silas tell his stories, only for him to suddenly remember that something happened differently and force the game to rewind, makes the campaign feel unpredictable. The game is also completely disconnected from the story of the previous two games. The cursed gold of Juarez and the McCall family are never brought up, and there are no meaningful story connections to the previous cast. The only thing the games have in common is being Western shooters. The presentation also takes a major turn. The realistic look of the first two games is replaced with a vibrant cel shaded art style and comic book inspired presentation. This fits the game's exaggerated storytelling particularly well, since the whole game is built around larger than life stories and Wild West legends. The developers explained that the comic book aesthetic was deliberately chosen to fit the game's focus on Western myths, while also helping them work within the game's limited budget. This decision also helped the game age very well visually. More than ten years later, Gunslinger still looks distinctive rather than simply looking like an old game with dated realistic graphics. The thick outlines, vibrant colors and comic book presentation give it a visual identity that the previous two games didn't have. The biggest change, however, is in the gameplay. Gunslinger moves the series much further toward an arcade style of shooting. The previous games tried to give their gunfights a degree of realism, even if the mechanics weren't always successful. Gunslinger is much more interested in making every encounter fast, flashy and satisfying. You earn points for kills, build up score multipliers, and are rewarded for things like accuracy, quick kills and performing more spectacular actions. This also changes how the series approaches character progression. Gunslinger introduces skill trees, allowing you to specialize in different styles of combat. You can focus on dual wielding, ranged weapons or close quarters combat, with each tree providing abilities that encourage you to play differently. Gunslinger lets you shape Silas's abilities around your preferred way of playing. This fits the game's more arcade focused design and gives you another reason to replay the levels and try different builds. The game also introduces a new mechanic that allows you to dodge a bullet when you're close to death, giving you a last second chance to avoid being killed. It's a simple addition, but it fits the faster and more action focused direction of the game much better than the defensive mechanics of the previous titles. The dueling mechanics from previous games have changed yet again. This time, the game asks you to keep your crosshair on your opponent to build up your Focus, while also controlling the position of your hand before grabbing your gun, as keeping it closer to the holster increases your draw speed. For the most part, I think this works pretty well and is another interesting take on the dueling system. However, it falls apart during the final “Mexican standoff” where you have to constantly switch between two targets and shoot the one who’s looking at you by the end of the countdown. This ends up feeling very RNG based, since the target you're currently looking at can sometimes look away at the last moment, leaving you with very little time to react. Gunslinger removes some of the mechanics from the previous games. While I didn't particularly like the contextual leaning in Bound in Blood, removing the mechanic entirely means that there is one less tool for the player to use. The weapon system has also been simplified. You can now only carry two weapons at a time, which feels like a downgrade from the first two games. Having more weapons available previously gave you more freedom to choose what to carry, while the two weapon limit here feels more restrictive, especially in a game that tries to be an arcade shooter. The actual shooting, however, is probably the best it has been in the series. The guns feel much more satisfying to use, and the game is constantly encouraging you to keep the action going. The shotgun in particular feels fantastic. Blowing an enemy away and seeing them get thrown backward through the air while time slows down makes the gunfights feel incredibly satisfying. These exaggerated reactions are exactly what the arcade direction is trying to achieve, and they make the combat much more fun than the more awkward gunplay of the first game. This is probably the biggest evolution across the three games. The first Call of Juarez was trying to make its Western gunfights feel grounded, even when some of its mechanics made them awkward. Bound in Blood refined those mechanics and made the shooting and dueling more polished, but still kept the combat relatively grounded. Gunslinger stops caring as much about realism and instead asks how much fun it can make shooting someone with a shotgun, chaining kills together and watching the score go up. There is also something enjoyable about the fantasy of playing as a legendary bounty hunter. Even though Silas himself is fictional, the game puts him alongside real figures from the Wild West and lets you participate in exaggerated versions of their stories. That combination of real history, Western mythology and Silas's unreliable storytelling gives the campaign a charm that goes beyond simply shooting enemies. The biggest strength is the combination of its storytelling and gameplay. The unreliable narrator isn't just a gimmick in the cutscenes; his changing memories directly affect the levels you're playing, making the story and gameplay feel connected in a way the previous games never achieved. The cel shaded visuals also give it a distinct identity, while the scoring system and satisfying gunplay make the actual shooting much more enjoyable. There are still some compromises, particularly the two weapon limit and the removal of some of the mechanics from the previous games, but I think Gunslinger understands that the most enjoyable part of a Western shooter is the fantasy of being an absurdly skilled gunslinger, and it builds almost everything around making that fantasy fun. 7

Durante o game você encontra e enfrenta grandes nomes do velho oeste como: Billy The Kid, Jesse James, John Wesley Hardin, Jhonny Ringo, Pat Garret, Butch Cassidy, Sundance Kid e etc...

I was going to mark this Not Recommended for one reason: Ubisoft. Then I checked. Ubisoft originally published Call of Juarez: Gunslinger. Techland publishes the Steam version today. So this is a Yes. ♥♥♥♥ Ubisoft. Just not over this one. I am 9.3 hours in and close to the end. The campaign is short, and I have not rolled credits yet. If the ending changes my opinion, I will update the review. What I have played is a focused arcade Western shooter that knows exactly what it wants to be. The entire game is a tall Western tale told by a bounty hunter who may be full of ♥♥♥♥. Silas Greaves sits in a saloon and tells the story of his life as a gunslinger. You play through those memories as he narrates them. When somebody questions his version of events, or Silas changes his mind about what happened, the level changes with him. Paths appear, encounters restart and enemies can change because the story has changed. The narration is not sitting on top of the game. It is part of the level design, and it is easily the best idea in Gunslinger. Silas crosses paths with Billy the Kid, Jesse James, the Dalton brothers and other well-known figures from the Old West. The game plays with the legends, while collectible cards called Nuggets of Truth give you some of the actual history behind the people and events. It is a small feature, but I enjoyed finding them and reading the entries. The dialogue and voice acting sound exactly like this kind of game should. Silas enjoys his own story, the people in the saloon challenge him, and some of it is genuinely funny. No complaints here. The cel-shaded art style was the right choice. It suits a story sitting somewhere between history and myth, and it still looks good for a game released in 2013. The main visual problem is that enemies can blend into the terrain. In a fast shooter, struggling to see what is shooting at you is not ideal. The weapon selection is small: revolvers, rifles, shotguns and dynamite. That is enough. This is an arcade shooter, not a loot game, and it does not need forty versions of the same gun. Three simple skill trees let you lean into your preferred weapons. They are not deep, but the upgrades make a noticeable difference as you progress. Arcade mode turns the levels into score runs where you chase combos and improve your high score. Duel mode focuses on the quick-draw system and lets you face a line-up of gunslingers. Neither mode is huge, but both suit the game and give the short campaign some replay value. Controller support is where Gunslinger feels its age. The camera does not feel terrible, but it does not feel good either. The game does not give me the proper control I want over deadzones, aiming sensitivity and response. It is playable, but playable is not the same as properly tuned. The shooting deserves better. Performance is also strange. With V-Sync disabled, my frame counter can go beyond 400 FPS, so the renderer is clearly not hard-capped at 60. It still does not look or feel smooth in motion and often presents like a 60 Hz game. I cannot tell you whether that is frame pacing, camera updates or something else. I can tell you that the number on the counter does not match what I see. The campaign is short, but at $1.99 I do not care. It does what it came to do, and Arcade and Duel modes give you somewhere to go afterwards. For that, I got a Western shoot-'em-up, a tall tale and a small history lesson. Easy recommendation.

JOGUIN DE 🔫🤠🔫 Joguei Call of Juarez pela primeira vez no Xbox. HISTÓRIA "And the darkness will grow... Until it consumes everything you are..." Tornando a campanha extremamente diferente e dinâmica. GAMEPLAY "Not even an army of demons could have stopped me now." Espere a retícula vermelha aparecer e atire novamente. CONCLUSÃO "The Good, The Bad and The Ug... Dead?" Sobre o final: genial o jogo terminar com um "mexican standoff" e fazer referência a The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.

its a fun western game that has a solid story and interesting original characters and it also has a few famous outlaws like billy the kid and jesse james. also the collectibles are actually interesting because they tell you interesting facts about the wild west. the shooting is very engaging and smooth. sometimes the level feels a bit too long but then it pauses and the characters narrating do or say something funny that really helps break up the gameplay. overall great game and a must play if you like westerns
