This game is an absolute underrated gem that didn't get half of the attention it deserved. It has one of the best career modes which is incredibly fun to play, with great selection of cars, licensed tracks and an extremely addictive handling model which never gets old. Though the presentation is similar to Grid 2019, it looks awesome, feels awesome and is a joy to play. Also has one of the cool multiplayer hop in race feature which makes racing against others very fun, but sadly the servers are being shut down for consoles today which will even lower the player count and make crossplay dead. Terrible handling of a game of this caliber, not surprising from EA.

In order to enjoy this... ... disable all the assistance stuff dumbing down the driving, ... avoid the ultra cringe soap opera story mode, ... turn off the dog sh!t dynamic music and bump something decent instead. I can't emphasize that last point enough. I bet they thought they were really cooking with the "dynamic music", when it's really just a relentless onslaught of some sort of weird orchestral EDM pulling samples from James Bond movies and adding slowed down death metal drums. Easily the worst music I've heard in any racing game ever. With that taken care of, GRID Legends is actually a lot of fun. Presentation and atmosphere are top notch. Feels great on controller. It's not perfect: Car customization and tuning is, unfortunately, pretty laughable. Menus aren't super well thought out. A few minor bugs, but nothing affecting the actual gameplay. Honestly, had they invested the money for the BS narrative mode into a little more content and polish, this could've been a certified banger. It is what it is. Yokohama docks in the rain = still peak.

I want to be clear. I've only played a few hours at this point, so I've only been playing the story mode. I'll update the review once I go in further. That said, I wanted to push it out there that this works on Steam Machine perfectly. I'm running the game on Ultra High at 1440p and it runs great. If you skip skip skip through all the prompts before a race super quick, sometimes frame rate feels juttery until you hit pause for a second, then go back into the race. Otherwise if you listen to the voiceover at the intro then continue, you're set. So far: Music sounds like it is a clone of a serious drama movie or a suspension thriller. It's completely out of place and in races extremely distracting. I'd recommend turning it off in races. Without it, the experience drastically improves. EA Nonesense: It does force you to login to your EA account, but unlike other EA games it actually remembers the login so it's a one and done. That's good. Story: Past the music this has to be by far the worst aspect of the game so far. The story is just ... bad. Actors/scripts don't play out like anyone would ever act while being recorded in public (the characters are aware they're being filmed for a documentary) and come off as mustache twirling villains from an old cartoon. This was bad enough until it started to be clear the game's loose objectives (place better than 4th, etc. ie: it's not always WIN) make it so the story can't understand with any certainty how well you're doing. There is a point where your teammate Yuri is being commended before a race for being the team's lead racer and being talked about like she's been winning everything, while you are her lowly "also is there" backup, and it's like.. um.. guys... I've WON EVERY RACE SO FAR and she's literally crashed out of like 85% of the races she's been in! It's also infuriating that they show races that look like something you'd like to participate in... but you just see footage of you losing or crashing out. I can understand they're driving up tension, but it falls flat as I know I haven't failed at anything in the game, but the game is treating you like you basically are holding on by a thread. Because race podium order is also random, the story doesn't know exactly where the competition is ranking at the end of the race. In one race, the main bad guy is basically losing his mind, and essentially is driving like he wants to kill people (which he nearly does later to Yuri). To be cute, he was a little sideways in a turn, so I nudged him so he spun around and crashed out after having to deal with his tantrum of me trying to pass for a bit. He ended up finishing way back, but the story pretends like he's ahead of us. THIS IS WHAT YOU GET WHEN YOU'RE NOT REQUIRING 1ST PLACE PODIUM FINISHES AT EVERY RACE, EA. The story has NO idea what's going on, so it just makes zero sense. Rival system is also weird, where sometimes a little tap can make it so someone is now your nemesis. Othertimes, you can ram into someone to the point their car goes over your roof and behind you and nothing happens. AI is super aggressive and even if they're not your nemesis sometimes they'll just spin you out for no reason. That said, they're pretty dumb, so there are openings. Racing: I know this sounds pretty negative so far, but just wanted to get that out of the way. The racing feels great. It's very arcadey but it does require skill. AI can be relentless and even if you're racing damn well near perfectly, they're usually only one turn behind. The game does seem to get a little easier as the story progresses; I definitely felt more pressured early on, but still, there is clearly some rubberbanding going on. Only two times was I able to get comically out ahead and I think it's because a crash happened that bottlenecked everyone. The game is over the top, but it's fun to drive. You can definitely push the car more than you think you can, and with certain races, far more than believable (racing a Cobra Mustang in an extreme downpour and I never felt the rear slip out even once is....not realistic). But if you want a Forza-like driving game that looks good, isn't filled with BS micro transactions, and has a lot of great looking tracks and a really impressive cockpit view, you can't go wrong. There's a ton of different types of races, with some that really shocked me like those stadium trucks that have to hit ramps on the track as they race. It's fun, but there's also some random moments like a drift competition that just... comes out of the blue, where there's zero training on how to do it, or a practice lap or anything like some other parts of the story have offered, and feels disjointed. Frankly speaking, I feel the story could have been relegated to some voice over comments before and after races, saved all the money on the terrible film they did, and used the budget to flesh out the story's races a little more, and it would have been far better off. But it's the modern era of games, where developers just want to be secretly making Hollywood films, not games... so... here we are. Once I get to the main game I'll update this, but yes. Graphically it looks extremely impressive especially considering it's several years old, runs on a potato, and feels great. Just turn off the music, ignore the laughable story, and do your best to chug through it's weaker moments. I'd definitely recommend getting the deluxe copy for around 20 bucks on a sale. DO NOT pay full price for this, it's just not there.

Other racers can blow tires, rip wheels off, blow engines, and completely wreck in front of you giving the race a level of unpredictability that absolutely NONE of the other racing games offer. The rain collects, pools, and flows, obscuring your vision. Causing you to have to learn what it means when a professional driver tells you "learn to look past it". I give it a solid 9/10- it would be perfect if it was balanced better. Anything below "Very Hard" is trivial but the jump from "Very Hard" to "Insane", or Legend as the game calls it, causes a massive spike in difficulty. Graphics are good. I am coming here after playing it on my Switch 2 and was hoping to be impressed even more by the graphics. But other than the resolution they are extremely similar. Kudos to the Switch 2's hardware I guess.

To co zrobili z tą serią to skandal. Model uszkodzeń to kpina. Nawet w czasie wyścigu nie można sobie odpalić powtórki. Same nieudane decyzje twórców. Kiepsko się w to gra. Nie podoba mi się. Lepsze starsze GRIDy i do nich wrócę.

GRID: Legends strikes the sweet spot between arcade thrills and responsive driving mechanics, making it easily one of the most enjoyable wheel-to-wheel racing games available on Steam. The live-action "Driven to Glory" story mode brings a surprisingly entertaining cinematic flavor to the career mode, but the core racing action is where the game truly shines. Car handling feels tight yet forgiving, giving you an exhilarating sense of speed while encouraging aggressive, tactical racing. The standout dynamic Nemesis system keeps every race unpredictable, forcing you to trade paint and hold off hostile rivals who remember every nudge. Coupled with a massive variety of vehicles—ranging from touring cars and hypercars to massive stadium trucks—plus a robust Race Creator, visually stunning track lighting, and rock-solid performance, GRID: Legends delivers endless high-octane fun for both casual drivers and seasoned arcade racing fans.
