I personally think many aspects are Nioh 3 are straight downgrades to Nioh 2 which sits as one of my favorite games of all time. The open world works worse than the more linear level design of 2, a large part of the content ends up being recycled from the earlier games, Ninja style is fun occasionally but is little more than a simplified moveset for players who find the Samurai style too hard, the weapon's available are vastly inferior to the offering in the 2 and many open world activities are quite boring. Even despite this, it's not enough on it's own for me to not recommend this game, so why the negative review? I happen to be fortunate enough to be able to afford a higher end PC, yet there is nothing here to warrant the absolute horrible performance this game has. You repeatedly see people with mid-range PC's having great trouble running this game at a reasonable framerate, yet there is nothing here which should warrant that, the game even straight up looks worse than Nioh 2 at times. Every Team Ninja game after Nioh 2 has had enormous performance issues which they seem entirely unwilling to fix. For example, Stranger of Paradise has performance problems tied to shadows, one of the community recommended fixes for this is REMOVING THE HAIR FROM ALL PARTY MEMBERS. While your new bald party will let you cruise at slightly higher FPS anything with debris or particle will still hit your framerate like a cruise missile. These problems, (or at least variations of them) exist in Stranger of Paradise, Wo Long, Rise of the Ronin, Ninja Gaiden 2 black, Nioh 3, probably the Atelier game (I have not played enough Fatal Frame 2 remake to comment) even though these game seem to look worse and worse (keep in mind I am not talking about artistic presentation here but texture quality/lighting). At what point should it be insulting to sell 80€ games in this state? I haven't had the time to play the DLC yet and with the reviews I'm unsure if I will, but supposedly it somehow makes the performance even worse. While there might some deep extremely technical reason for this, they are still struggling with the same issues since Nioh 2 (Nioh 2 also had problems tied to effects but these were minimal in comparasion and could be alleviated with changing settings). At what point is it fair to simply call this negligence?

Well... It seems like a good game, from what I've been able to play, but oh boy - people weren't joking about the performance issues. AMD Ryzen 7 9850X3D NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 64GB DDR5 And yet this game locks up or stutters more than anything else I've come across. I'd just avoid, sadly. Waste of money on my part, and certainly won't be trusting Team Ninja for a good while again.

I really hoped for a Nioh 2 successor. What we got is no where near what Nioh 2 offered unfortunately. I'm not really motivated to pay for the DLCs either, the game lost much of it's fun and difficulty between 2 and 3. Nioh 2 with the DLCs and depths I have almost 2,000 hours in, this game I doubt will ever encourage that much play. Splitting Samurai and Ninja into separate styles does not work as nobody wants to play Samurai. Open World Design is boring and not nearly as risky and difficult as theme park design. It's my opinion they tried to fix something that was absolutely not broke and could have been improved even further. Most of the difficult mobs in Nioh 2 don't even pose a challenge in Nioh 3. My first Itsumade encounter in Nioh 3 left me depressed, the difficulty and risk don't exist anymore.

かなり前に本編クリア済でDLC遊ぼうとしたら最適化不足なのかパフォーマンスが安定しません。 本編の時は特に気になる点はなかったんでDLC発売後からだと思います。 改善されるのを待ってます。

out of all Nioh titles, 3 is the best gameplay wise, and the open world plays well too, and I would say this is a must-buy... however, I can't recommend the game because of atrocious performance. you have to constantly keep FPS locked since any drops by even 5-7 fps and the game become unplayable. the game looks great, especially the character models, but it's time to change the engine or do some sort of engine overhaul, idk… apart from performance, there are plenty of enemies and spirit summons from older games that haven't been added, so by the end of the game, the enemy pool really gets repetitive. balancing is also needs some work. 90% of the time I played exclusively with the ninja style. that is not to say that it needs to be nerfed, just samurai style needs more love. deflecting/perfect guarding has too many downsides and IMO 0 pros compared to dodging with ninja style. that without cleansing dodge perk, which makes the samurai style completely irrelevant. the story is also not that interesting, but that was never the strong point of the franchise

Final verdict: very "meh" I'm sorry but it's just not it. I really, really love Nioh 2 and I just can't like this game. We really tried to like it and pump some hours in to make it worth the money, but it just felt forced and generally not very fun. It felt more like a chore. It might sound stupid, but I do feel most of it stems from the open world design, since you just waste a lot of time running around, doing random chores and sometimes finding something good - loot, boss fight. You might also end up like me, you find the boss too late and it's just stupidly easy, which happens more often than not. Some quality of life got better, but adding ninja style and some other changes in combat also weren't IT for me. 6/10 Not recommended, although "meh" button would be better.
