Quite bad value for money. It's solid on its own, but feels cheap and copy paste in many regards. Pros: - New enemies, bosses etc are solid. Nothing exceptionally good, just solid. As a point of comparison, I think the new bosses here are nowhere near as good as the Nioh 2 DLC bosses (heck even Nioh 2 base game bosses). - The new map has some amazing level design, for the first half at least. The back half is much more sparse and bland. - Main battle theme is good, but one of them is just reused from the base game as well. - New weapon type is fun. - Hayabusa Ninpo are in. Cons: - Basically everything in this DLC is reused. And not generally reused from the prior Nioh games, but reused from base Nioh 3. So while you might have wanted more bosses from N1 and N2 to return, you'll be fighting the bulk of optional bosses from the base game again. - A lot of "bosses" are just humanoid NPC enemies, so functionally close to Revenants. - Map is quite small. The size is misleading at first imo. This is probably the smallest map in the game aside from the antiquity section. - The new features in this DLC are largely just features from prior Nioh games. - The DLC costs like double prior DLCs for the past games, for not appreciably more content. This is also just one of two DLCs versus 3 DLCs in the past. Team Ninja feels a bit washed. Nothing they make is really that bad...but none of it is ever anything worth getting excited over either. Just very safe and by the books all around. So yeah, if you like Nioh 3, maybe worth it at like 50% off or something.

This DLC is the epitome of laziness and the dev doing the bare-minimum (if I'm being generous) for an expansion. We only get 1 new guardian spirit, no new skills for existing weapons (only elemental variants) and incredibly, no new armors except some recolors sets and a reskin... And it's one thing to add only 2-3 new regular enemy types in a game that's already been criticized the lack of enemy variety, it's another to refuse to recycle the old enemies from 1 and 2 that were not brought back to 3 yet. So hooray, we get to fight the Takaimachi as a DLC boss for the 5th time!

I am a diehard Nioh fan. Between the first, second, and third game, along with all their DLCs combined, this right here is undoubtedly the weakest experience of all of them. Ton of rehashed content from basegame Nioh 3, like 2 or 3 returning enemies from the past games, and the new bosses are forgettable as hell. Like even the DLC final boss is just one big nothingburger. I am so sad, so baffled and so disappointed, that they even cooked up something like this. Because it is straight up bad. Took like 7 hours to complete from start to finish. And throughout most of it, I kept thinking ''Oh NOW is where it gets good''. But it never did.

To me, this DLC is an insult. Your experience with this expansion will most likely heavily depend on whether you've played the previous installments or not, but I hope after reading this, a potential buyer thinks twice about spending money on this Concerning the "new" Content: In truth, this game really only adds one new enemy and one new boss (disregarding human npc fights). Thats it. Literally every other enemy/boss is recycled from the previous games or a reskin from the base game. The cherry on top is that a boss from nioh 2 is recycled not once, but TWICE. The entire DLC is padded with old bossfights from the base game and even the aforementioned double-recycle boss is fought two seperate times. Concerning the usual DLC difficulty spike: In nioh 2 for example, the DLC difficulty increase came from adding unique enemies and bosses that are faster and stronger than the base game roster. In this game there are essentially no new foes. So what did team ninja come up with? -Rehash of nuribotoke... but with other enemies surrounding it -Rehash of jakotsu-baba... but with other enemies surrounding it -Doubling the amount of elite enemies in lesser crucibles -recycling a previous games boss as an unstaggerable, high damage enemy, disguised as a trash mob and littering the area with it (funnily enough, said boss is actually recycled twice and used as a bossfight again) Pros? The new map is nice and i guess the new weapon is cool, even though personally not up my alley. In conclusion, I already had mixed feelings towards nioh 3 as a whole, so this DLC didn't just not sway my opinion in its favor whatsoever, it also made me more skeptical of team ninjas current design philosophy for nioh altogether. i would have rather paid 20 bucks for them to simply add back stances to the ninja weapons and bring back the old soulcore system than all this.

The more I played this DLC, the harder it became to justify its price. The main issue is simply how little meaningful new content there is. We get a new region, a new weapon, a new difficulty, one new Guardian Spirit and a handful of new enemies, but most of it doesn't feel substantial enough to qualify as a proper expansion. The new region is probably the biggest addition, but it's hardly revolutionary. The exploration and level design don't really surpass what the base game already offered, and outside of a few interesting smaller areas, it feels pretty forgettable. Honestly, if you removed the new region, there would be surprisingly little left here. The enemy variety is even more disappointing. Instead of bringing back more enemies from Nioh 1 and 2 that are still missing, the DLC relies heavily on recolors, reused enemies and variations of enemies we've already fought throughout Nioh 3. Some of the bosses aren't particularly memorable either, which makes the constant recycling even more noticeable. There's also very little to get excited about in terms of gear. One new Guardian Spirit, no meaningful new skills for the existing weapons and mostly recolored or reskinned equipment isn't exactly what I'd expect from a paid expansion... The new weapon is fine and the additional difficulty is welcome, but neither is enough to carry the DLC. Overall, this feels less like a substantial expansion and more like the bare minimum amount of content packaged and sold as one. If you're interested, I'd strongly recommend waiting for a sale. At full price, this is very difficult to justify. VERY, very difficult...
