Damn, I went into this game totally fine with this being a glorified side DLC just to hang out with the Saints again, but I still walked away massively disappointed. 🛑 Avoid at full price. Even for Saints fans, this is a massive letdown. The core premise of sending the Saints to Hell is awesome on paper, and the intro cutscene hooked me immediately. But the actual execution? Volition missed the mark by light years. You might look at my measly two hours of playtime and think I gave up, but no—I actually beat the entire game in that time. ⚠️ IMPORTANT: If you've not played any of the other games, you will have no idea who these people are and feel absolutely no connection with them; it is not recommended to play this at all if you haven't touched the previous titles, even though the story is technically self-contained. 🌋 The World Credit where it's due, the map design is actually brilliant. It genuinely feels like a proper demonic, twisted version of Steelport, packed with destroyed, burnt-out buildings, giant glowing spires, lava lakes, and crowds of miserable, damned souls aimlessly wandering the streets. Aesthetically, the enemy variety is super distinct and looks awesome: [*] Arch-Dukes: High-tier demon generals charging at you with massive flaming swords and shields before teleporting right onto your face in an explosion. [*] Legionnaires: Basically the "Brutes" of Hell. These are massive, high-tier mini-bosses that spawn at high notoriety, wrecking you with heavy ground stomps, rushes, and energy blasts. [*] Shadow Demons: Annoying long-range snipers that constantly blink away into the shadows if you try to get close while shooting you with Umbral Rifles. [*] Heavy Grenadiers: Literal bullet-sponges radiating a blistering Hellfire Aura while spamming explosive frog launchers from the backs of flying Hell trucks. [*] Imps & Tragics: The rank-and-file is wild, ranging from tiny, fast-swarming Imps that latch onto you, to standard Demons, to "Tragics"—depressing theater geeks wearing Greek comedy/tragedy masks who shoot at you around Shakespeare's club. The models feel super unique rather than cheap reskins, giving the city a legit dark fantasy vibe. Plus, the cutscenes are fantastic. Seeing the DeWynter twins back from SR3 was a huge W, and allies like Blackbeard and Shakespeare have great designs and dialogue. 📖 Story The setup perfectly embodies the absolute wackier, unhinged identity of the later games. It starts during Kinzie's birthday party when Matt Miller pulls out a literal Ouija board that he managed to grab from Zinyak's personal artifact collection. The thing opens a portal and the Boss gets sucked face-first into Hell because Satan wants to force them into a shotgun wedding with his daughter, Jezebel. Naturally, Johnny Gat and Kinzie Kensington dive into the portal after them, and they are the only two characters you can actually play as in the entire game. This marks the first game in the entire franchise where you do not play as your own custom-designed Character Boss, forcing you instead to step into the shoes of pre-established, named characters. It was also incredibly sad to realize that the vast majority of the main Saints crew do not feature in the game at all beyond that initial intro cutscene, and favorites like Oleg are completely absent from the entire experience. Once you land in New Hades, the whole goal is to build an army to stage a massive coup against Satan himself. To do this, you have to run around recruiting legendary damned souls like Blackbeard, Vlad the Impaler, and Shakespeare to join your cause. Where it completely falls apart is how the game actually treats the narrative: [*] You just bump into these iconic historical figures and old characters out of nowhere with zero buildup or structured flow. [*] Recruiting these big-name followers feels completely pointless. Beyond the initial introductory cutscene where they fork over an Arcane Power, they do absolutely nothing else to help you overthrow Satan. There are no further cutscenes, no interactive interactions, and zero narrative proof that they are actually working with you. They certainly don't stand alongside you to storm Satan's hideout during the climax, they just completely vanish into the background. [*] Outside of granting you their specific gimmick power, they are structurally irrelevant: • Blackbeard hands over Summons (which lets you spawn annoying little Imps or slow-moving Titans to fight for you). • Shakespeare gifts you Stomp (a generic ground slam that sends out shockwaves or sucks enemies in like a vacuum). • Vlad the Impaler passes on Aura (surrounding your body with passive elemental buffs, like cold fire or draining health). • The DeWynter Twins give you Blast (a basic ranged projectile that solidifies or damages targets). [*] Outside of a few cutscenes, you are totally on your own. No homies to call up on your phone, no squad backing you up. It makes the game feel weirdly empty and lonely without the actual Saints crew rolling with you. 🎮 Gameplay Don't get me wrong, the core shooting and fighting mechanics are fun, but the gameplay loop is easily the worst part of the package. It gets mind-numbingly dull because the entire world is built purely on repetitive crap. There are practically zero traditional, scripted story missions. Instead, progression is entirely based on filling up a literal "Satan's Wrath" meter by grinding open-world activities like Torment Fraud or Mayhem. Literally 90 percent of this game is padding. Once I realized there was almost zero actual story content and it was just a glorified checklist of activities, I literally booted up Cheat Engine to skip the artificial bloat, giving myself all the upgrades and levels needed to bypass the grind. I expected to reach the next big set-piece mission, but to my absolute surprise, doing that basically triggers the end of the game. You go straight into the final Satan boss fight and that's it. The only missions that feel like real, actual levels are the initial tasks to recruit the four allies and fighting Satan. The rest is just boring, mandatory filler, and that's exactly how I beat the entire game in under 2 hours. Anything over that time is just the game forcing you to endure repetitive crap to flesh out its hours and artificially extend its length. It's a shame because the weapons are genuinely fun and incredibly unique, especially the Armchair-A-Geddon couch gun which lets you lay back and fire dual miniguns. But while the weapon sandbox shines, the vehicles are seriously lacking. The average busted, rusted-out car driven around by damned NPC souls is surprisingly immersive, and the heavy trucks driven by the demons look awesome, but that's where the praise ends. There are barely any new or accessible vehicles to actually mess around with or have fun driving, making the whole world feel mechanically hollow. 🤔 Final Thoughts Grab it on a deep 85% off sale if you want a little one-and-done game just to experience a new playground and get a tiny bit more time with the Saints. However, expecting anything more than a couple of hours of actual, original gameplay is simply not realistic. It is a genuine tragedy because the core concept here was absolutely brilliant. It had the setting, the style, and the chaotic charm to be an elite standalone spin-off, but it was ultimately smothered by lazy design and hollow filler. Rest in peace to what could have been a legendary trip to the underworld.

If you couldn't get enough of Saint's Row IV, then this might give you a little extra, but mostly the busywork part, since the story is extremely short and there are only a few real activities. Most of the challenges are just killing with every weapon and ability in the game. Either ways, as most people say this should have been a DLC for the base game. The flying was cool though.

Saints row Gat out of hell is a sequel to the 4th saints row. The story takes place from saints row 4 when Gat gets sucked into hell along with Kinzie, they are trying to find the way back home but to do so they must encounter what satan has in store for Gat, he plans to marry his daughter to Gat and become the king of hell. I enjoyed playing this but the missions could have more the gameplay is great the weapons are very good as you can upgrade them, the challenges are not that hard just time consuming to finish. You can finish this game around 23 hours with everything 100%, What i didnt like is that it doesn't have a cloud save. I do recommend this to any saints row fan. 8/10

Saints Row: Gat Out of Hell feels more like a Saints Row IV expansion than a proper game, and unfortunately, that's also its biggest problem. The new hell-themed weapons and abilities are fun, and flying around with the wings is probably the best part of the game, but there's not much else here that feels particularly fresh. Most of the activities are recycled from the previous games, and instead of having proper missions, you're mostly just completing activities until you've progressed the story enough. The story is also extremely short and pretty forgettable, although there are still a few funny moments and the musical is probably the highlight. I didn't hate the game, but after Saints Row IV it feels like a pretty underwhelming follow-up. I'd only recommend it to SR fans who really want more of the same, and preferably at a deep discount.

Gameplay is great although even on the hardest difficulty the game is still too easy, and very short to beat only took around 3 hours, but overall very good game

Honestly after starting the game the thought of playing was kind off non exciting, but when you get into it its pretty fun very reminiscent of Saints Row 4 so there's that. Overall a big passion ♥♥♥♥-post with song, wine and women what's not to love.
