The Wandering Village
In a world where mysterious plants are spreading all over the earth, emitting toxic spores as they grow, a small group of survivors seeks shelter on the back of a giant, wandering creature they call 'Onbu'.
Become their leader, build their settlement and form a symbiotic relationship with Onbu to survive together in this hostile, yet beautiful post-apocalyptic world.
Build your village
A functioning village is the basis of your survival. Build your settlement and expand it over Onbu’s back. Plan production chains and optimise them to utilise the limited space as efficiently as possible. Create a society that can overcome any challenge.
Live on the creature’s back
Living on the back of another organism comes with its own set of challenges. Will you live in symbiosis, bond with Onbu and survive on mutual trust? Or will you become a parasite, only aiming to ensure a better life for your villagers? The choice is yours.
Discover different biomes
Continuously adapt your village as you travel through a multitude of different biomes, each with its unique climate zones, opportunities and threats. Scout your environments and send out foraging missions to gather rare resources and ancient artefacts.
Research new technologies
Remnants of the old world hold knowledge that has long been forgotten, but can be unearthed by your villagers. Find and research these technologies, but use them wisely, as progress can be a double-edged sword.
Survive the wastelands
Ensure the survival of both your villagers and your Onbu, even though poisonous spores, merciless weather, bloodsucking parasites and many more challenges mean that the odds are often stacked against you.

I was very conflicted about this review. Mind you; i've been with the game since the alpha. Honestly; this game just gets boring. Everything just feels like a job. You learn a tech; take forever to gather resources to build it, then you build it. That's it. Until you finish the quest line which is just a glorified tech upgrade tutorial that makes you build unnecessary things that you don't want to build anyway like the machine to hurt the Onbu for not listening. Then there is the ending which the game doesn't prepare you for at all. Literally just because the game goes from survival to wave based defender that relies on your resources in advance. The reward for getting to the end by the way? You get to build 3 monuments. 3 monuments soooo massive that you actually can't build them on the Onbu by that point without destroying half of your build. They also give a buff to your housing in a circular radius which means the housing has to be built around the monument. The challenge mode you can't even fully do without surviving 1000km with half the modifiers first. It's like Vermintide 2 locking a higher difficulty behind a paywall except this is a playwall. This game just wants you to play it but the charm and fun of it just dies too fast. There are much better survival civ building games out there and you are better off spending the money on one of those instead of a half-hearted project like this. The art is beautiful though. Even if the music is limited and repeats non-stop. Also; will always love Onbu and will forever pet him and never use its blood or bile for food because that's just dumb.

Loved the story and the game plays great with a controller which is a rare treat for deep city builders. And Onbu is the cutest ever <3

Very addictive town builder. It has some UI issues on deck I wish you could fix, or at least I couldn't find out how, but it wasn't terrible. Music is great, world is very interesting. My only gripe besides the UI issues is I wish there was more to do/see. More biomes, more activites, more game beyond challenge mode and such. Looking forward to the DLC, though.

Obviously, this game was highly inspired by Hayao Miyazaki's "Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind" with its aesthetics, character design, and toxic fungus-filled world. A small part of me wishes they hadn't adhered quite so closely to Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli's style. I think it's fine to take inspiration, but this borderline feels like lawsuit territory at times, haha. But I can appreciate a well-crafted fan work, so I can respect the decision. Besides, the fact that it looked like "Nausicaä" certainly caught my attention when I saw its trailer. I'm sure it worked on other people, too! Don't get me wrong; there's a lot of originality to be enjoyed in the game, too. The story and characters in the tutorial are adequately charming to keep one motivated during a first playthrough. I like all the little jobs the villagers have, and the funny-looking insects like sporemoths and elefleas. After I finished the story, I kept coming back for more. The art and animation are pleasing to look at. I love zooming in and out on the village to manage the onbu. The music is mesmerizing when I'm deep in a flow state, the minutes melting into hours... This is the first game I've ever got all the achievements for on Steam. I love this game! It's satisfying to develop the landscape of the onbu's back, and the onbu is so cute... I like that the game gives you the option for a darker approach to your relationship to the onbu, even though I usually try to be nice to mine. Seeing small beings and big beings work together in harmony makes my heart soar. One possible negative to consider: this game has a lot of micromanagement. If you want a city builder where you can "set it and forget it", this game isn't really made for that. It's difficult to design a village that runs smoothly without constant input. As for me, that's what I ended up really liking about the game: it kept me engaged and eager to achieve new goals.

If you can deal with the frustrating and occasionally completely uninformitive info the game gives you the game is fun. If you want to know why people are unhappy not so much. So deeply mixed bag.
