Short version? Don't buy. Long version? The game takes the baseline premise of the Wolfenstein franchise and essentially forces co-op down its throat. Even in offline mode with co-op disabled the game forces you to have a teamate who's AI is pretty damn dumb and it only gets worse from there. The enemy AI is cheap in that sometimes they'll spawn in out of nowhere and ambush you. Rnemies that act like bullet sponges. The game also uses a leveling system that ties certain things together. Like upgrades, enemy strength and so on. Then it adds on currency that you need to find to even purchase or equip some of them. An extremely odd choise to be sure. Throw in odd ball glitches with some enemies and you get the idea. At the end of the day this is not what Wolfenstein is about by a long shot. You kill nazis, save the world, add in a decent story (notably the reboot had a solid one), solid gameplay and that's it. Not this mess of a game. If you want a good Wolfenstein game then look anywhere but here. Don't buy this game unless you have someone to play it with. If not then don't even consider this game. A big thumbs down from me.

Wolfenstein: Youngblood — Entretenido, si entendés a qué vas a jugar. Valoración personal: (7/10) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Wolfenstein: Youngblood — Entertaining, if you know what you're getting into. The Good Fun Co-op: Playing with a partner completely changes the experience for the better. Level Design: Arkane Studios' touch is clear in Paris's verticality. There are varied alternative paths to approach each area. Solid Gunplay: Good weapon design and variety; shooting feels great, staying true to MachineGames' signature reboot DNA. Aesthetics and Soundtrack: The 1980s setting in a dystopian version of the decade works well visually and is complemented by a decent soundtrack. The Bad RPG Mechanics and Armor Types: The enemy level system and armor mechanics feel somewhat forced for the series and can interrupt the flow of the action. Repetitive Structure: Backtracking multiple times through the same districts to complete side missions makes the game feel repetitive after a few hours. Light Narrative: The relaxed, sometimes clumsy or immature tone of the Blazkowicz sisters and the overall narrative don't reach the emotional depth or drama of The New Order or The New Colossus. It's true that the community hit it pretty hard. A 30 on Metacritic seems a bit exaggerated for what the game actually is; I think a 50–60 would have been fair. However, as an action shooter, it does its job well. It's fun to play with a friend, though a bit tedious soloespecially the final stretch of the campaign and due to the behavior of the allied AI. Ultimately, I recommend buying it, but only on sale.

I genuinely don't know what happened here. Somewhere along the way, this franchise went from producing games that actually justified the excitement surrounding them to delivering something that feels like it was designed to be played in five-minute bursts on a phone while you're waiting for your food to arrive. And somehow, despite having the gameplay depth and overall appeal of a mobile game, it manages to run like you're trying to play Cyberpunk 2077 on a GTX 1050 Ti while your PC is being held together with duct tape and a desperate prayer. Honestly, that's an impressive achievement in its own right. Not a good one, mind you, but an achievement nonetheless. The biggest problem is that this game doesn't just fail to live up to the franchise's legacy; it feels like it barely understands what made that legacy worth having in the first place. Previous entries established a certain standard, and you'd reasonably expect a new installment to at least attempt to meet that standard. Instead, this feels like someone looked at everything fans enjoyed about the series, threw most of it out the window, and decided that whatever remained was good enough to slap the franchise's name on. Apparently, brand recognition is now a substitute for quality. The gameplay feels shallow, the overall experience lacks the substance you'd expect, and the whole thing gives off the impression that it was designed around the question, "What's the absolute bare minimum we can get away with?" rather than "How do we make something worthy of this franchise?" Every time you start to think there might be something worthwhile underneath the surface, you're reminded that you're playing a game that seems far more interested in occupying your time than rewarding it. And then there's the performance. Oh, the performance. What a spectacular mess. Imagine taking a game with the apparent complexity of a mobile title and somehow making it run like a technically ambitious, graphically demanding PC game from the future. You'd think the developers had accidentally left an entire second game running in the background, except that would imply there was enough substance here to justify those hardware demands in the first place. Comparing this experience to Cyberpunk 2077 running on a GTX 1050 Ti might sound unfair to Cyberpunk, and honestly, it probably is. At least Cyberpunk has the excuse of being an enormous game with a detailed world, complex systems, and a tremendous amount happening on screen. When that game struggles on underpowered hardware, you can at least understand why. Here, you get to experience performance problems without the corresponding benefit of feeling like you're playing something particularly impressive. It's like being charged the price of a luxury sports car for the privilege of driving a shopping cart with one square wheel. Sure, you're technically moving, but at some point you have to wonder why you're putting up with the experience at all. And before anyone rushes in to explain that performance can vary depending on hardware, settings, drivers, or whatever other perfectly reasonable technical explanation might apply, let me clarify something: optimization is part of the product. I shouldn't have to become an unpaid technical support engineer just to make a game that feels like a mobile title run acceptably. If a game is going to demand the patience of a NASA engineer to operate, I'd at least appreciate it doing something impressive once it's running. The most frustrating part is that this is a franchise with an established history. There's a foundation to build on. There are previous games to learn from. There are fans who already know what the series is capable of. This isn't some brand-new experimental indie project where a few rough edges are understandable. This is an installment that has the benefit of everything that came before it, yet somehow manages to feel like a downgrade in both ambition and execution. That's what makes the disappointment sting. If this were an entirely new IP, I might shrug, call it mediocre, and move on. But when a franchise has previously demonstrated that it can do better, watching it settle for something this underwhelming feels less like a creative misstep and more like a complete failure to understand its own audience. Naturally, there will be people who enjoy it. There are people who enjoy just about anything, and good for them. If you're having fun, I'm not going to tell you that you're wrong. But enjoyment doesn't magically erase the technical problems, make the gameplay deeper, or turn an underwhelming sequel into a worthy successor. Sometimes a disappointing game is just a disappointing game, no matter how many people insist that you're supposed to appreciate it for what it is. And that phrase, "appreciate it for what it is," is doing an awful lot of heavy lifting here. What it is, as far as I'm concerned, is a disappointing entry in a franchise that deserves better. It's a game that seems content to coast on the reputation of its predecessors while delivering an experience that feels considerably cheaper, shallower, and less polished than it should. The fact that it can simultaneously feel like a mobile game and perform like it's trying to render the entire universe in real time is almost comical. Almost. If you're a longtime fan of the franchise, I would strongly recommend tempering your expectations. Then temper them again. And after that, maybe lower them a little further, just to be safe. Going in expecting the quality of previous entries is a recipe for disappointment, and I wouldn't recommend spending your money on the assumption that the franchise name guarantees anything resembling the experience you remember. As for the negative reviews, I'd take them seriously. Normally, I like to form my own opinions rather than letting reviews dictate what I play, but sometimes the collective wisdom of people who have already spent their time and money on something is worth listening to. In this case, the warnings are worth considering before you make the same mistake. There are plenty of games out there that respect your time, justify their hardware requirements, and actually build upon what made their predecessors successful. This doesn't feel like one of them. My recommendation: Trust the bad reviews, save your money, and don't waste your time. If you're looking for a worthy continuation of the franchise, look elsewhere. If you're looking for a polished, well-optimized experience, look elsewhere. And if you're looking for something that justifies the excitement surrounding its release, you might want to look somewhere else entirely. At this point, revisiting one of the older games sounds like a much better use of your time. At least then you'll be reminded why you liked this franchise in the first place, rather than spending hours wondering how it managed to fall this far. What a disappointment. The franchise deserved better, the fans deserved better, and frankly, my hardware deserved better. Save yourself the headache. Read the negative reviews, believe what they're telling you, and move on.

Can't play it without crashing in five minutes of play. The game has a GPU time out issue with AMD cards in the 9000 range.

Well, here we are. The newest installment of the Wolfenstein franchise. As I've gotten all the other games from a bundle, I blindly went into this one despite the criticism I've seen it receive. First thing to note is Co-op. Didn't know they would attempt to do something like Portal 2's co-op in a Nazi-killing game but okay. I had to host a private game because single player is apparently non-existent unless you count dragging around a bot partner that seems to have been trained exclusively to stand in the wrong place. Then comes gameplay. Played only the first mission (took about 30 minutes), and the entire game has been watered down into some RPG-styled shooter where everything revolves around powering yourself up and watching the numbers go up. But more importantly, it changes the feeling of actually killing enemies. In the previous games, clearing an area could involve actual planning, like figuring out where the commanders were, whether to stay quiet or go loud, picking off enemies without alerting others and getting that satisfying feeling when the whole area had been cleared because you actually executed your approach properly. This is all gone, replaced with entering an area, shooting whatever is in front of you, moving towards the next objective and repeat. Stealth feels less meaningful and killing enemies starts to feel like something you do because the game put them there rather than because you made an interesting decision about how to deal with them. There's still fun to be had in the shooting itself, but the dopamine of successfully dismantling an enemy position is mostly missing. The bot partner is as incompetent as you'd expect, which becomes particularly funny considering the entire game is built around having a second person with you. The protagonists are immature to the point where it doesn't even feel like they're living in the same world as the previous games. This is supposed to be the 1980s after decades of Nazi rule, technological advancement and everything that happened in the previous games, yet the characters frequently sound like two teenagers who just discovered that swearing is funny. The storyline also feels disconnected from what came before it. A lot of the lore, atmosphere and whatever realism Wolfenstein had left seems to have been thrown out the window. Even The New Colossus, despite being significantly more exaggerated and ridiculous than The New Order, still had serious moments and enough worldbuilding to make the story feel grounded. Youngblood feels like The New Colossus was taken apart, all the recognizable pieces were put into a blender and someone decided the missing pieces could be replaced with RPG mechanics. Less of a continuation of the series and more like someone made a completely different game and remembered halfway through development that they had the Wolfenstein license. If you're getting it as part of a bundle with the other games, sure the other titles make the price worth it. But buying Youngblood by itself? I'd rather just replay The New Order.

I agree that it's different from previous Wolfenstein games, but still very fun, even playing solo. The AI companion is borderline useless, but still better than being alone. Enemies take more hits, but don't feel particularly spongy, the weapons still feel good and you can upgrade them further. Overall a game that I'm enjoying playing.
