This game is perfect for someone who only reads the manga or watches the anime like me. Reliving the old days. No sweating, just build whatever deck I want and beat the bots.

Estoy aprendiendo a jugar a Yugioh, desde lo más facilito, pasando por los diferentes tipos de invocaciones, experimentando con decks jugando contra la máquina. Muy completo, un montonazo de cartas para ir probando, es muy divertido experimentar.

Legacy Of The Duelist is an good game that is buried underneath attrocious UX. [*]You can't bulk purchase booster packs. [*]Can't restart battles without quitting to the story menu. [*]Can't cancel most moves (I don't care if the rules forbid it, it's bad UX. This isn't a real comp, I'm playing a single player game against a bot). [*]Everytime you start a duel the game flashbangs you just before throwing you into the duel, which is an absolute disgrace if you're playing this at night. Then there's some of the decisions that Konami made with the game. For starters: booster packs can include duplicates beyond the limit for 3 copies per card. There's over 10K cards in this game, you don't need to artificially pad out the time it takes for a player to 100% the collections for each booster pack. The story decks are garbage. You often reset duels right at the start because for how these are structured you need to rely on RNG. Sometimes you'll go multiple rounds without getting a single card that you can actually summon and without getting useful trap or spell cards, other times you get an excellent draw that makes the whole thing a breeze. Much better experience to just use user decks. While I don't mind the Visual Novel style, I would have prefered if Konami had some of the dialogs be just scenes pulled straight from the anime. This isn't the PS1/N64 era anymore, you can fit fit a few minutes of high resolution anime footage in your game. Certainly wouldn't complain if the dialogs actually had at least Voice Acting. At 75% off it's not a bad purchase at all, but it's not worth anywhere near full price. It's not a bad game, but even 7/10 might be pushing it a bit.

honestly i liked the original release better but this is the same game basically. my only quarrel is that you cant bulk buy or skip packs to open quickly

I think yugioh legacy of the duelist link evolution is currently the best yugioh singleplayer game. Its a single player game with online feature (you can duel random duelist or your friend). It has thousand cards to collect. Many archetypes to play with. Also, it has campaigns from yugioh duel master to yugioh vrains. So if we want, we can try the new mechanic like synchro, xyz, pendulum, and link. But we still can play the old school / classic yugioh only.. Its satisfying when you nearly lose the duel, but you decide not giving up and trust the next card you draw and it turns back the situation, and you win the duel in the end.

It's a fun game. I'm not really that far into. I left on trip after getting it and kinda forgot to shut the pc off so now I have 331 hours in it :\

steam playtime is wrong, it's inflated. this game is trash - for most first gen players (and likely new ones too), all new mechanics suck. links, xyz, synchros, pendulums. it really shows over the years that they wanted to find excuses to print new cards and bring something "new" no matter what it was to keep engaging people and make them spend money, and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ some of these mechanics are bad. and from what i've read by today they effectively powercrept pendulum stuff out of the game too. most cards have multiple effects and conditions and they almost all revolve around destroying or summoning other cards. nothing at all like first gens with each card having its own unique effect, now they pretty much all do the same 1/2/3 same effects at the same time. they just don't fit into the game. imagine you're playing chess and someone throws a warhammer board onto your table. that's how it feels with these new mechanics. they're lame and not fun at all. "not interested" level of not fun, but it ruins the game i'd want to play. i'm doing the story mode starting from the beginning and after having played through the tutorial to get familiar with these new systems i'm really not looking forward progressing far into the game. also it seems that this version uses rules master 5 or whatever it's called, while the previous version without the "link evolution" in the name uses 4 that has less of these systems, so it might explain why it's still on the store and super expensive despite being a version that released 4 years prior - everything is dull and flat. YGO games from 20 years ago had nice, intelligible and impactful animations. this one has nothing. you can barely tell that anything is happening. it's like the game thinks you're watching a movie and doesn't want to bother you or something. it shows a tiny arrow with tiny damage numbers with very faint and quiet sounds. it does have ♥♥♥♥♥♥ low quality summoning animations for iconic monsters like blue-eyed white dragon and dark magician that can't be skipped and play every time though so they definitely had put effort into making it much worse than older games - rigged ai. as usual in ygo games. the cpu always gets the best cards all the time while you get literally nothing to play. can't play anything > skip > can't play anyhing > skip > can't play anything > skip > lose. i get that it would be better with custom decks but it's still a factor, and it's terrible with story decks. story decks (that are not even the actual decks from the anime) are useless and are made worse by the rigged ai. play weevil's deck, spend 5 turns doing nothing after previous attempts at summoning the 3rd stage butterfly card while all others are literally useless because it's literally the only playable thing. right before i can summon the thing, the cpu summons a card that destroys my setup and by then there's no chance to win the duel. of course there would be no chance at all because the opponent is loaded with counter cards anyway. that might be one of the reasons why the game gives us the choice each time between using a custom deck or the default story ones. it's only the third encounter and i'm already used to the skip-lose loop. so i try that duel again. this time yami yugi skips all his turns but his first and i end up winning. next one is mai as joey, first turn she summons a harpy, a magic card that summons harpy lady sisters, field card and +500atk equip card. perfect hand. i only get crap low atk cards, including useless 5 stars ones, and useless fusion card. lose the duel not able to do anything. try again. first turn she summons harpy, a field card and two of the same equip cards. and i get the almost all same useless cards as previous game. i get a ladybug card that destroys 4 stars cards. but she just so happens to have a monster reborn to get it back right away and destroy my counter trap card with an additional effect on her field card as if it was not enough. fun. i still somehow win, and unlock the reverse mode as mai vs joey. this time the game, AGAIN, gives all the good cards to joey, while i have nothing, literally NOTHING to use except a monster reborn that gets countered by a trap so i just skip 3 times without being allowed to do anything and lose. so i try the duel again. and lose again. and i try again. AGAIN. SKIP, SKIP, SKIP LOSE. THE GAME DOES NOT GIVE ME ANY CARD THAT CAN BE PLAYED. RIGGED. edit : i tried 2 more times with mai's deck, couldn't do anything and lost. so i tried with the basic, default non-story deck, and lost in 2 turns without being able to do anything. the game gives the opponent all the right cards to combo 20 of them first turn and in turn 2 we lose against 4 monsters including a fusion one. i blushingly tried to summon another monster (the cpu stole the first with a "lucky" first turn time magician that "luckily" destroyed it and "luckily" brought back to its field with a reborn monster that it "luckily" got from using graceful charity that it "luckily" got first turn along wih field card call and fusion card call to complete its "lucky" time magician) so maybe i'd last at least 1 turn and it just so happened that it had a trap to destroy it right away sooooo yeah this game is so grossly rigged it's unplayable and not enjoyable - duels last way too long. i counted 1 trap card placed on my field, with cpu having only 1 normal monster on its entire field. 20 prompts asking me if i want to enable my trap card between the end of my turn and the beginning of mine again, with cpu having skipped its turn. 20. TWENTY. i counted them. together with the phases text constantly running from left to right it's insanely annoying. it's worse and more annoying than the older games on gba. it's not even that they are not needed, we might want to enable a card any time we want, so the game prompts us to do so, but it's still an easy deal breaker. then the slowness of moving card around. combos and card manipulations can easily last over 30 seconds even for the cpu opponent. summon animations last around 5 seconds. the game pauses when and between the times of choosing monsters to use as sacrifice, and monsters to summon. summoning a monster from sacrifices that has a cinematic can take over 15 second every time. cards also have too much effects. it's very tiresome, especially when getting into the game after many years, to have to read the effects of all the cards, and modern cards have tons of different effects on each card. spend more time reading the rules than playing - can't back up from considering summoning a monster or from between attack/defense once it's set if we misclicked even though we haven't actually yet chosen where to summon it or anything. that's a relatively minor thing but worth mentioning, at least some older games didn't have that issue - trash ergonomy. the deck building interface is the worse than it's ever been. it would be easy to misclick prompts because they happen all the time one after another when we want to do something else. the combat interface is inconsistent. hover a card to see its effects. mouse scroll to scroll the description text. except sometimes the mouse scroll doesn't work and we have to left click on the scroll tab element itself. so in combat i do just that when i'm prompted to enable the effect of my card so i can read it again because the text is very long. the game takes my left click on the scroll tab to read the text as a validation to enable the effect instead, which cancels my direct 2500 LP attack against the opponent without any benefit and makes me lose a card. good job konami
