A not so "final" fantasy As someone that never touched a FF game until now, I felt that it would be fair to start the journey from the beginning of the series (which is something I wish I had done with other series like Dark Souls). It is a privileged position to be, because not only you are experiencing everything in a similar way to the first original fans of the series, but you are also more capable of see the advancements that tend to happen to a series as long as Final Fantasy. Since Pokémon FireRed is probably my only experience with a game that makes you create and manage a party of characters, you could say that I was very lost at the beginning, especially considering that most of the explanations about the mechanics did not feel very useful to me. However, the game is simple and intuitive enough for that to not be a problem. The gameplay loop is very straight to the point: get xp, defeat some bad guys to get more items and be able to explore the vast world around you. With some interesting twists in the story and quality of life changes this game manages to be a charming adventure that does not waste your time and delivers a solid experience from beginning to end.

Go and download PPSSPP Grab the: Final Fantasy 20th Anniversary Edition. It's the version of the game that feels like Final Fantasy. Not....whatever this is or is trying to be. There's an endgame. There's replay value. Spells make sense and use MP. (Big kid numbers, I know) Bottom Line: Save your money.

Okay, So the game is WAY better than what i expected it to be. It is the most basic game full vanilla 101 jrpg, but it's very good when you put it back in its context. I wasn't expecting "that much" for how old it is, got a lot of fun out of it, did it in one day and it's the first FF i've platined (because let's be real, the others are grindy af and i have a life on the side bro). It really benefit from the PIxel Remaster to avoid the austerity of the NES version and have some QOL (on/off on random encounters, multipliers you can activate on xp and gils) Definitely a must play to see what spawned the world most-renowned jrpg licence of all time

A classic. Updated visuals and music makes this a joy to play. Not a fan of the grind? Just turn up gain rates in the boost menu. Would recommend especially on a sale

Game is really good, there's a few bugs, and it's very simple (in some parts needs a bit of farming), but I really enjoyed playing it Must stock antidotes all game tho

if you are looking for a fun rpg that allows you to "free" roam the world, I would grab a guide and enjoy this game to the fullest! I loved playing this game and fighting my way to save the world!

Overall, a good fun game especially given the era of games it was made in. The overhauled graphics and quality of life improvements that have been added in this port makes this a worthwhile game, especially if you want to start from where it all began for this series.

The JRPG genre has been subverted, reinvented, and transformed in so many ways that a straight up classic hero's journey adventure feels almost new and refreshing in the modern age. With a blissfully beautiful soundtrack, compelling early character designs, and a wonderful sense of pacing makes for a good time. Most of all, thanks to the Pixel Remaster, with the bugs and archaic elements stripped back, it's shown that at its core, Final Fantasy is a quintessential example of a timeless piece of art.
