I don't get the negative reviews on this game. "The combats too boring! Every enemy is just a bullet sponge!" It was designed for dramatic, theatrical gameplay, not for boss fights that take multiple deaths to beat. If you look at the game at a pure difficulty stand point, then it's basically just a walking simulator with occasional puzzles, and I think thats fine. I wouldn't want to spend my time stuck on an extremely difficult boss fight, especially not in vr, where you will get exhausted and frustrated much faster. "Theres too little weapon variety! Why is only one-handed guns?" If they chose to add another gun, what would it be? A sniper rifle in a game thats mostly small rooms? An automatic rifle when theres already the pistol and smg? They already have every base covered with the pistol, shotgun, and smg, they even have a grenade launcher upgrade. Two handed weapons also didn't fit with how the game was geared towards newer vr players who likely don't have gunstocks. A lot of combat is also ducking in and out of cover, something that two handed guns make frustrating because they would constantly get caught. Most other negative reviews are also just refuted instantly by developer commentary. "Why are there no melee weapons?" Because of the lack of physical feedback, melee combat was just a huge immersion breaker for playtesters. They were basically just wiggling their controller infront of them, swinging at ghosts. I also feel like melee combat would've been bad for the game because they would either need to lower the ammo given, or make melee combat useless past the early game. "Puzzles are too easy!" Every puzzle was designed with the knowledge you already have, its not going to suddenly throw a new mechanic into your face and tell you to just figure it out. None of the puzzles felt incoherent or nonsensical, they always had logical solutions that feel rewarding to figure out. If you thought the puzzles were "too easy" then I guess your just some gaming guru that just hates figuring out sensible puzzles.

Great VR game. The best I'd say. And the immersion in the Half-Life universe in unreal. That being said, the bar for entry is pretty high. You need a beefy system and an expensive VR headset. For me, it raised the bar of what I expected from VR gaming, and subsequently ruined VR gaming for me. If you have a headset, play it! if you don't, don't bother getting one specifically for this. It is playable in pancake mode with the HLA-NOVR mod, but it isn't the same. It is slow, tedious, and sometimes broken. Having no-clip bound to a key by default says it all I think.

Excellent VR game. The graphics and physics are very realistic, as I flinched many times from seeing and getting hurt by enemies I have not expected to run into. The amount of detail and interactivity with the environments, character models, weapon models and items are quite astounding. The map designs are intricate and humongous, as you can find yourself getting lost progressing through the levels. The way you shoot your weapons and reload is so awesome. The enemies approaching you as you frantically reload and struggle to do it really raise the intensity of this game. A few times, I experimented with stacking barrels on top of each other to get to places way out of reach, just to check if I would get a hidden achievement, or if there were any useful items. Slightly frustrating that some items could not be picked up with gravity gloves or even your hands, as the developers probably missed enabling either option for them. The controls are also very good, although they can be a bit frustrating at times, but that is expected of any VR game since the technology is relatively young and very difficult to optimize. The puzzles are very well thought-out and sometimes challenging, as I got lost quite a bit but was able to figure them out without consulting a guide, which I am proud of. If you hunt every nook and cranny for enemies to kill and items to collect as well as try to grab everything else in sight and play with it (or destroy it), this game can take about 50 hours to go through. I took that amount of time since I took advantage of the feature of saving and loading on demand, since I got picky about losing so much health when fighting enemies and greedy about how much ammo I used to kill them. I am so glad that I finally finished this masterpiece of a game before my HP Reverb G2 would become obsolete.

for the gameplay absolutely buy it its veary good the guns are nice but a problem i have on a quest 3s is that after about 30mins of game time it just dose that thing where if you move your head the last frame stays in place and when i move my view out of that last frame it becomes a distorted mess of it and idk how to fix it but anyways the game is awsome
