I owned Halo Wars on the Xbox 360 when it first launched, and I've replayed the campaign numerous times over the years. I can also remember sinking countless hours into making up scenarios in skirmish mode with my brother, like the Covenant trying to hold out against the Flood on maps that included them, or even a UNSC civil wars. It feels great to finally play it on mouse & keyboard too (as with most RTS games), and honestly, it still looks really good considering its age. The campaign narrative is really interesting and a lot of fun. The characters are memorable, especially the ultimate chad Sgt. John Forge. The inclusion of the Flood is great, and I love the Arbiter as a recurring villain, particularly his rivalry with Forge. They've also done a good job of keeping the campaign from getting too repetitive, with a decent variety of locations and objectives throughout. I think the difficulty is tuned really well too, at least in my experience. I tend to stick with Heroic rather than Legendary, though. If you're a Halo fan and/or a fan of real-time strategy games, this is definitely one to grab.

Fast-paced, intuitive, and dripping with classic Halo atmosphere. The PC controls feel great, the campaign is super fun, and cinematic cutscenes still look top-tier. Excellent entry point into the RTS genre—10/10 would spam "ALL UNITS" again.

juan is my goat and i miss you thrawn, doddery, extreme and filthyrocker. and malachi you are a pos fun game though! loved it back in 2014/2015, turtling was so fun before it was well-known

this ♥♥♥♥ is the reason I'm into RTS games and halo! first halo game growing up along side reach and odst! still very good to this day, In my opinion.

Almost the perfect laid back RTS. I've bought this game so many times. Xbox 360, Xbox one, and now PC. I also enjoy more involved RTS games like Supreme Commander, StarCraft, ect... However the matches in those take too long and they are so involved with resource management and other things that sometimes those feel like a chore to play. With Halo Wars I can just lay back and play with a controller and only have one resource to manage. The game has 1 fault (2 if you are playing online), Not enough unit choices and some of the units in the game serve no purpose and no experienced player would ever use them. The grunts aren't effective against any units so why would anybody build those when Jackal's are the same price and completely dominate enemy infantry troops. Every unit should have a strength of some sort that gives them a purpose and unfortunately this game failed to do that. The balancing of units doesn't feel complete, like this games not done being made. However, to this day I haven't found a laid back RTS like this. So this is the best we've got. Just don't use the units that are useless and it's a fun game, its just unfortunate that we don't have more options in what we spend our resources on. The second fault is in the online play. If a teammate or two quits it really about guarantees you are going to lose the match. 1 vs 3 good luck. This is especially aggravating knowing the game has ai that you can play against. SO why not when a player quits replace them with an ai on Legendary difficulty instead of the game getting ruined for all the remaining players in the match.

It's ok. Easy quick playthrough. The pathing of the vehicles can be pretty brutal but overall it's an ok game for the price. Nothing at all compared to sc2 so control your expectations.

Writing this review because my internet is down and I cant play halo wars. Great game, great comp community, even greater series. My only complaint is that there arent enough rebels. Halo, when will we get a Rebel game in the past? (NOT YOU 343)
