Is this game worth your time? Well, if you're someone who just finished Her Story or Telling Lies and is looking for another mind-blowing story to discover, look somewhere else. I personally like Sam Barlow's work but this one just isn't it. First of all, the gameplay just consists of clicking on random objects or faces in movie clips that transport you to other movie clips - except this is completely RNG meaning the same objects can transfer you to multiple different clips so you're really just clicking randomly until you find something new. At first it's pretty fun...until you start going in loops through clips you've already seen 100 times without any guidance on how far you are to collecting them all or what you already have and haven't clicked. Not to mention this game is 60% sex scenes and perverse dialogue. Whilst I get that it's the premise of the story to be that way, it is a little bit ridiculous having to watch people have sex with each other for a minute straight only to then be rewarded with finding a secret clip that is just them ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ in a different position. The craziest thing is that you can technically solve the story within 5 minutes of starting the game as the very first few clips already explain a lot. You'll probably spend hours surfing through clips hoping for more in-depth explanation of what's going on only to be disappointed to find out that there aren't really any twists and it's just an expansion of what's already known. There is like 1 clip every 2 hours that is actually interesting but because of the RNG, you'll find a really cool clip only to have the next few hours be boring ♥♥♥♥ that completely destroys the pacing of the game. Maybe make the intensity of the clips rise in a more linear way next time? If anything, watching the movies fully is more interesting than whatever this story is supposed to be. If this was more of a realistic horror story rather than being so artistic I think it would be more interesting and would match the energy of Sam's other games. The production quality is definitely great though and miles more impressive than the other games, even other FMVs. The actors, the sets and the originality are all fantastic. The only thing that truly brings this game down is the gameplay, the story and the pacing.

I'm yet to complete this, but on the 8 hours, it is definitely not everyone's cup of tea. It feels pretty clumsy in many ways gameplay wise to me and i feel like I just end up going in loops. But ultimately, the mystery and actors feels great. But I also don't know if I can recommend this to any of my friends without a big reservation. It's very peculiar.

The developers describe the content like this: IMMORTALITY contains strong language, violence, blood and gore, as well as nudity, sexual content, and the use of alcohol and drugs. Do you want to click random videos to see nudity? If yes, this game is for you. If not then look for other games. The gameplay is extremely simple. You are watching videos and you can pause it any time. When you pause, you can click on several items on a frame. It "transfers" you to another video with same item. Example: if you click on apple, it starts you another video with apple. New video has also a lamp. You are clicking on the lamp and it shows you another video with the lamp. Pretty simple. But some videos has "something hot" except the apple. if you'd like to check these, this game is for you

After the brilliant Her Story and Telling Lies, Sam Barlow outdid himself and took things to another level with this game. Immortality is a masterpiece of storytelling, which is not something I would say lightly. And once you realise what the twist is, your mind will be blown in a way rarely experienced in gaming. Very strongly recommended.

I highly recommend playing Sam Barlow's first game, Her Story, instead. It's more accessible and memorable, with smoother storytelling and a more immediate emotional impact.

a very unique game that I was really starting to get into, I was collecting clips and then some achievements started triggering as I was collecting clips ("You saw what happened to Some Guy"? no I didn't, and I don't even know what clip triggered that so that I can go back to it -- this happened with two different characters) and then out of nowhere the ENDING triggered! I have no idea how many clips I collected but I had probably only watched 1% of the video in the game, I had barely started to get ANY handle on the story. I did discover a few of the 'hidden' things, but it didn't make any sense yet. Suddenly the basically turns itself off and plays this ending that makes no sense to me and has no impact because I DON'T KNOW ANYBODY YET! Totally trashed the experience. I don't know if I just got 'lucky' in the RNG and happened to see the right parts of the right clips or what, but for all the massive effort of producing multiple movies and this complex web of connections, the basic game logic was not up to the task, booted me out of the experience and rolled credits. Oh and after the credits the controls were broken when I tried to go back and watch more clips. Also the game runs at uncapped framerate, for me it was between 200 and 1000(!) FPS which is just burning electricity for no reason. Really not sure if I will go back or just reclaim my 26GB, because I can't trust it to function and probably won't be able to put the ending into context with any hope of appreciating it. Really sad to have to come away from the game like that, I was so ready to love it, and it was just broken.

what a wonderful immersive experience, my friends and i were itching to pick apart every clip to get to the heart of the game. i am so amazed at how this game even came to be.

Cool narratively but it's legit 10 hours of footage with basically 0 agency. You'll have your own playthrough but basically no control over how that playthrough unfolds, unlike e.g. Her Story. Allocate time accordingly.
