It’s been a while since I played the game, but I remember getting it after watching some people playing it on YouTube. I saw the game had multiple endings based on your choices, so I decided to play it for myself. I think the jumpscares and horror elements of the game were done really well. I remember yelping and getting spoken by a loud noise or a nasty jump scare. I had a family member ask if I was alright after one of the jumpscares, as I literally fell over in my chair from the shock. Granted my desk chair was missing some wheels at the time, so that didn’t help, but still. I haven’t played a Horror game since that made me retreat so much I fell over. Great Game. I look back on it, and I can only remember the jumpscares and eerier feeling I had while playing it, so it did it’s job well.

An Odd adventure to be sure, but a good one. An interesting bout for the first day I played it. Nothing was too hard, but somethings felt backtracky. All in all I had a lot of fun with my first playthrough, a couple more are coming now. Hope you drop some time on it as well, nothing new, but don't let that stop you. It's like a fun little minigame.

If you have ever wondered how ugly it could get in the event that AI were to take over, well, this game depicts one possible reality. Enjoyed it overall, but aiming to reach 100% completion left me with mixed feelings. Simulacra is a modern take on a philosophical idea that originated in an essay called "Simulacra and Simulation" from 1981. It's simple, and yet, if you manage to reach any ending, and the true ending especially, you will likely ask yourself questions about how you approach your existence in our digitalised world. The game has its flaws, but if you're okay with this format, then you will probably have a good time. When I played Simulacra for the first time in 2018, I played it, and I enjoyed it a lot. I was impressed by the simplistic yet effective nature of the storytelling that was made relevant due to the then technologically transitional period: everyone learning how to use smartphones for almost anything. I also appreciated how little the game requires of you, safe for the patience to read, comprehend, observe, and stop to think for a moment, making it an easy recommendation for playing after a mentally and physically demanding day. That was then. But what about now...? Lately, I had been thinking a lot about the topics of Simulacra, Simulation, Simulacrum, and AI, so I decided to replay the game and complete it because I liked it so much my first time. It took me 2 playthroughs to reach completion. The first one took 4-5 hours, and the second - no more than 2-3. My recommendation if you were to seek completion within the day would be to do it with a guide next to you. Some achievements, especially the hidden one and the true ending, require noticing and doing a number of things, which could take you hours to nail by going back again and again -- which could be enjoyable if you're into that and are okay with spending more time with the game. And here is a thing you'll wish to keep in mind: to reach 100% completion, you will need to open the corresponding save file folder, and create multiple backups (ideally, giving yourself context because it gets hard to make out the saves), because you will need to go back if you don't want to replay the game 5 or 6 times. Most of all, the save files will help you in the event that the game bugs out, as it tends to do -- for instance, when you use your keyboard to input something, and then press Enter, the game crashes; for others, some chats don't load properly; for others yet, some achievements refuse to pop up on the first or second try; and so on. Do your due diligence to find out what's needed for 100% completion. I used Naps' guide on PlayStationTrophies.org, and made plenty of back up saves along the way. Feel free to comment if you need the files for your run, though imo it's more fun to do it along the way.

While I was playing this game, I kept hearing someone knocking on the door or window. I actually thought it was here in my home. As it turns out, it was the game. Quite unsettling to be honest. In that regard I give this game a high mark. But I don't know if this is going to be for everybody.

The story was nothing if not cliché. The concept of a found phone game is cool, or perhaps was at the time of release, but everything else surrounding this concept left me quite underwhelmed. So many of the characters are creeps, and I find out I got the bad ending for not helping out either of the creeps continue their creep life. This game also falls into the pitfall of any visual novel type game, it feels stricly linear and there doesn't feel like theres much you can do to change the outcome of the game. Of course this isn't entirely true; there are mutliple endings. But the steps you have to take to get the endings are either vague or require you to work with the aforementioned creeps to save a woman who shouldn't be placed in these creeps crosshairs. Also what's the message of this game, that putting on an online persona is bad? Sure, maybe, but we see one character using a persona to her benefit? Is it that forming relationships online is bad? Sure, they can be. But again; there are benefits to forming relationships online too. The main villian of the game, if you could call it that, doesn't really have a solid theme. Is it AI? Something paranormal? Eldritch horror? A mix of them all plus more? Even with this in mind, why make it a supernatural entity? Why can't the villian just be a normal guy, like what happens in real life. It feels like meta commentary for meta commentary sake. This is the kind of game I suspect would do well in a youtuber letsplay, it's something to be watched and commentated on. I suspect this because I only really had fun with this game because I was playing it with my friends. As for the "horror" aspect, its a bit of a joke. Loud noises or random unexpected noises playing at random times - most egregiously "door knocking sfx" Wouldn't reccomend, but its cheap so do as you will.
