Prepare to be tempted, mesmerized and thrilled, become the Overlord, how corrupt you become depends on how you handle any given situation. Overload is a hack and slash minions type game. The game story is built around Lord of the Rings and other fantasies. Played this on my Dell XPS 9570 with GTX 1050 Ti Max Q 4GB. Game is very playable. This old relic is still playable but the game is a tad clunky on a modern machine. I tried my Xbox controller which seems to work slightly better.

В очередной раз убеждаюсь — над хорошей игрой время не властно. Очень радовала игра как 20 лет назад, когда она вышла, так порадовала и сейчас. Весело, увлекательно, незамысловато и мило. Игре не нужен сюжет уровня голивудских блокбастеров, миллион механик, записок, миниигр и сторонних активностей, чтобы быть интересной и захватывающей. Если вы по какой-то причине пропустили (или не застали), очень советую поиграть. Эта игра принесла с собой дух тех самых игр детства из второй половины нулевых: вам около 10 или чуть больше, за окном теплый май, а впереди все летние каникулы.

In short: If you've ever searched online for a necromancer type game with some form of minion summoning mechanic, Overlord gets mentioned everywhere. You might not be a necromancer but if you're looking for something to scratch that specific itch, that makes you want to send your minions into villages and cities to plunder, kill and pi** on the innocents belongings while standing next to the burning houses and farms and letting out your most cartoonish "yes! take their stuff! kill them all! muhahaha!" then this is the absolute most perfect title to date. Technically you also gain more minions from killing living things, so you are kind of a necromancer. Keep in mind that you should play it with a controller and even then the controls will challenge your patience here and there. For a 19 years old classic the visuals of this game aged really well. It's humorous and the big semi-open areas give you plenty opportunity to explore and search for loot and upgrades. Everything you do has an effect on the game, killing random stuff gives you more minions, destroying and plundering gives you gear for your minions and gold. A relatively fleshed out corruption mechanic exists, which gives you the feeling that the world is reacting to you doing evil things just because you want to, which is cool. The gameloop also contains some minor puzzles. There's a lot of game juice here, killing, destroying and even spawning minions feels good and sounds good. Everything you do is fun. Annoyances The cameracontrols and controls in general are the absolutely most horrendous I have ever had to deal with in any game. You should really play it with a controller, since the game was made for it and its really noticeable. Also the mouse and keyboard controls really often bug out and you have to go to the pause menu to reset it. Even with controller it is sometimes absolutely awful to control anything in this game. Most of the time it wont get in your way, it's not a constant annoyance. But it does get in your way on a regular basis. Another annoying thing is that sometimes you might loose all your minions to something (for example you accidentally sending them to their deaths) and theres no spawntunnel in your vicinity. So you have to walk all the way back to the last spawntunnel and then come back with fresh minions which might just be 2 minutes of playing walking simulator. Conclusion I do think that the fun of the game outweighs the annoyances. The Game is not difficult enough to be really frustrating, when you loose your minions to some control-issues. Also it doesn't really matter if your minions die, they are literally made for being sent to their demise. For 5 bucks this is a no-brainer if you enjoy minionmanagement in videogames or just want to be the evil guy for once.

El juego está buenazo, la historia está bien loca, jajaja, todo bien. El único detalle que, al menos a mí, en ciertos momentos puede resultar un tanto molesto, es que a veces (yo lo jugué con teclado y ratón) se queda pegado el click derecho, que es para llamar a los esbirros, y cuando necesitas que ataquen, se bugean y no se separan de tu espalda; de ahí en fuera, buen juego, sin duda jugaré el 2. This was the first kinda game like this i'd played back in the day, and still holds up as one of me favourites! NIce comical element to it.

Back in my school years, Overlord seemed like a pretty fun and quirky game. The idea of controlling a horde of minions was genuinely cool, and the humor gave it a lot of charm. But even back then, the actual gameplay felt too tedious. The controls were awkward, and the campaign was way too long for what the game had to offer. Eventually, the novelty wore off and the whole thing started feeling like a chore. Nostalgia makes me remember it fondly, but honestly, even as a kid I found it pretty exhausting to finish.
