Originally released in 2007, this MMORPG still holds up almost 20 years later. Still receiving updates regularly, it's easy to hop right back in or for the first time and immerse in your own adventure in a beautiful re-creation of Middle-Earth. It does have an optional VIP membership, and certain end-game content is locked behind paid expansions, but as a casual player there is enough free content to get many hours of playtime and enjoyment out of it as a F2P player. Doesn't feel grindy, systems are simple to understand, and has a wonderful soundtrack. Great for that nostalgic MMO itch.

As a 15-year veteran I cannot recommend you to not play this game enough. In May I had 3 of my 10+ year old chars disappear after a server transfer (because the server I was playing on got shut down). I logged a ticket saying my characters are gone with a screenshot included showing my character selection screen displaying a 7/11 character slots used. They told me to buy more character slots and closed the ticket. I gave the servers a few months to settle down and I come back to find my account completely gone. Staff cannot find it, no logins are working, nothing. 15 years, 2500+ USD and countless of hours just erased and I get an automated replies from my tickets. Mentioning this on Discord, people were just like "eh happens, especially with the older accounts" so this really isn't a rare occurance. Please do not support this company.

The Lord of the Rings Online ist für mich das beste MMO +Wunderbare Atmosphäre +Tolle Soundtrack +Entspanntes Gameplay usw... -leicht verstaubte Grafik aber sonst okay mehr negatives fällt mir nicht ein am Ende ist es ein solides MMO für jeden ist etwas dabei in Lotro Story oder einfach so zum chillen ist es Perfekt :) Wenn ich es Zocke Stream ich es auch www.twitch.tv/zumlustigenschnitzlwirt

Great Game in the lovely world Tolkien created! Sadly the game has MANY flaws that simply don't get fixed. 1. UI scaling is still broken after a year past release. Pathfinding from NPCs is broken and causes many quests to break. (even from basegame quests!) Unbalanced PvP (Lotro is Famous for Its Unbalanced PvP) ←—- You will need max Virtue Xp Twink unfriendly as possible! (Nearly everything is only unlocked on the character gaining it, meaning you need to farm the same stuff over and over again.) ←— max Virtue Xp again 5. It is impossible to close up to the endgame. (Yes, you can buy a $60 Boost pack, but it will only worsen the problem because you will struggle to understand the class, and Travel Points are missing what you would unlock naturally while leveling, Virtue Xp.) ←— max Virtue Xp Virtue Xp deserves its one point. You will get Virtue Xp by killing a specific amount of a specific monster in an area, like 200 (I'm not kidding; 200 is pretty "normal"). Finishing a deed will reward you with 1000-2000 Virtue Xp, and you need 4 million to max all Virtues…. In the Deed Book are only 2 million, and you have to repeat it for EVERY character over and over again! Many players buy multiple Valar (XP upgrades) JUST to get the Virtue XP out of these packs, and you will need 5 for $60 each just to max a single character! I love Lotro, but seeing the same problems for years in the forum and zero effort from the publisher to do anything besides push out flawed content and sell "fixes" in the real money shop makes it impossible to recommend the game to anyone Dont Mind the "only" 1000 Hours from Steam i am using Lotros own Launcher!

The game engine is old and could use an update that streamlines old expansion mechanics, and provides a modern facelift. However, the game is rich with lore, and the journey to max level is the main feature of the experience, unlike most other MMOs, where level grinding is treated as a chore. The player community is much more mature than other MMOs. If you enjoy LOTR and questing solo or with a friend, this is the place to be.

MMO très old school avec un contenu qu'aucun MMO moderne ne peut rivaliser. C'est le résultat de 20 ans d'ajout continu de contenu. Alors oui au niveau purement technique, il y a des lacunes, les graphismes datent, l'installation du client peut être capricieuse, les serveurs sont arretés 2 à 3 heures, le mercredi, chaque semaine. Mais vous aurez vraiment la sensation d'être dans la terre du milieu, et de participer a votre niveau a la guerre de l'anneau : Le rôle du porteur de l'anneau est déjà pris par Frodon, et vous n'allez pas sauver le monde. Vous allez a votre niveau aider indirectement a la réussite de la quête de Frodon. Le gameplay est très libre : vous pouvez rush au niveau max, ou prendre le temps de découvrir la terre du milieu et ses milliers de quêtes (merci la pierre de tortue), ou creer un escouade d'artisan, ou chercher du challenge dans les combats, ou donner des concerts. Tout ca en solo ou en groupe selon vos préférences. Mais attention, le jeu ne vous pré mache pas tout. Par exemple, pas de groupe généré aléatoirement : il vous faudra être social si vous voulez jouer avec d'autres joueurs. Pas de soucis la communauté (au moins sur Gond) est très accueillante et très aidante. Les réglages de base invitent a la découverte tranquille sans challenge. Augmentez le réglage de la difficulté et la terre du milieu devient un piège mortel. Vous voulez jouer gratuitement : c'est tout a fait possible jusqu'au niveau 95. Mais attention, jouer gratuitement ne veux pas dire arriver dans le jeu et avoir tous les éléments de confort. Il va falloir les gagner un par un, grâce une monnaie spéciale (les points Lotro) obtenable en réalisant des 'prouesses' dans dans le jeu et acheter les éléments de confort dans la boutique avec cette monnaie. Sinon vous pouvez vous abonner pour aider le jeu à vivre, et l'abonnement vous permet de jouer confortablement sans devoir farmer ces points Lotro. Les devs de Lotro ont fait, il y a 20 ans un pari osé : faire un jeu qui ne va pas plaire a tout le monde, mais qui est fidèle a l'esprit de Tolkien. Le résultat est l'opposé de ce qu'on voit partout ailleurs : le jeu n'est pas une machine a générer de l'argent, ni une prouesse technique, mais une invitation a un voyage partagé.
