Not recommended because the developers have updated the game and added a forced Epig account requirement and the game doesn't work anymore if you don't have one. If they can make these changes to a game I've purchased many years ago then I'm not going to get their new game when it releases as there's no guarantee they're not going to do the same with it. If you really want to play this game get it from GOG, that version of the game is unaffected.

Not only does it now get stuck trying to download a fresh install with the very first "Busy" red circle of death I've ever seen on Steam, but after having had this game for years and been generally happy and supportive of it ... the game is locked out of me being able to access the thing I paid for and played for years because of Epic / 505 forcing more 3rd party malware nonsense onto an offline singleplayer game. I'll never get to enjoy this game again, F Epic / 505.

Game is great so far, but I have to play it outside of Steam by running the .exe directly, so my playtime isn't reflected. Opening the game normally gets me stuck at a prompt telling me to log into my Epic Games account. I don't have one, I'm not making one, the store never said I needed one. If you have an account already, then you'll have a great time. If not, you can still play it and it's still good, but you'll have to make one of Steam's features in it. I can't bring myself to recommend the game in its current state because of that.

This game is the closest thing to Castlevania Symphony of the Night. Even little details like having the fairy sing a song near the piano were clearly borrowed from SOTN. It also has multiple playable characters and the same exploration element that I love from the Castlevania series. If you like 2D Castlevania games you will probably like this one too.

メトロイドヴァニアをやりたいのなら、やって損はないゲームだと言えるでしょう。 軽快なアクションとゲームを進める事で解放される要素で探索の幅が広がっていく、メトロイドヴァニアの基本を押さえた作りとなっています。（まあ経緯を考えると当たり前なのですが…） 私は難易度ノーマルでプレイしましたが、ゲームの難易度としては高いと思わなかったので、メトロイドヴァニア系に興味があれば誰でもプレイできると思います。 特にこのゲームの場合は、勝てなくてもレベルや装備等をしっかりと強化すれば、ボスであっても難なく勝てる事でしょう。 そう言う意味では高難易度を求めるプレイヤーには向かいないかもしれませんが、難易度選択ができるのでその辺で対応していただければと思います。 ■良かった点 ①軽快なアクション とにかくキャラがきびきび動くのが良かったです。後々ダブルジャンプ等の要素を開放してできる事が増えても、”動かしやすさ”を損ねていないのが良かったです。 ②探索範囲が広がる楽しさ あからさまに行けない所がありますが、しっかりと後々解放してくれます。それでいて進行ルートが全く固定されている訳ではなく、少しは先回りができる様になっているのも良かったです。（ボスはほぼ順番固定だと思いますが） ③ついついやりたくなるアイテム収集 ゲーム内メニューから収集率を見る事ができ、やはり100％にしたくなります。 若干装備品の収集率判定が分かりにくい所があるのは難点ですが、ドロップを狙って周回をする楽しみがあります。 メトロイドヴァニアなので「細かい事はいい」と言いたくなるストーリーですが、王道ながらも一工夫加えられており、うっとうし過ぎず、空気過ぎずとちょうど良い程度と言えるでしょう。 全体的に高いレベルでまとまった作品で、マジで全部良い…と言える内容です。 ■気になった点（やや面倒な要素がある） ①奥義 コマンド入力してまで使うのか…となる要素、更に熟練度を上げきれないと他の武器で使えないのが面倒でした。ジョイスティックだと入力が厳しい感じで、最終的には使う必要はないと割り切りました。 ②シャードの強化 クラス、グレードと強化項目が2種類もあり、ただただ手間がかかるように思えました。強化項目を分けた意図は分かるのですが、そこまで面倒にしなくても良いのでは…と思ってしまいました。 ③特定アイテムの入手方法 料理で使う「ペッパー」「にんにく」等は特定地域の青宝箱からランダム入手しかできず、在庫が切れた時は入手が面倒です。そして、更に強化で使う「金」も特定地域の青宝箱からランダム入手しかできず、しかもかなりの数を要求される事から非常にストレスとなります。 まあ簡単に手に入り過ぎたら良くないのも分かりますが、もう少し楽しく集められる様にしてほしかったです。 ■最後に ちなみに私がこのゲームを最近まで敬遠していたのは「月下の夜想曲」が好きすぎてイメージと違っていたら…と悩んでいたからでした。こんな事なら発売して直ぐにプレイしておけば良かったと、今なら思えます。 実は、このゲームは「月下の夜想曲」を作った人がクラファンで作ったゲームに当たります。そのため個人的には期待値が高すぎてどうかなーとなっていました。 上で色々と書きましたが気になった所も何とかなるレベルであり、あえて言うなれば「月下の夜想曲」であったゴシック調が控えめな所が気になった程度でしょうか。 とにかくゲームとしての質が高く、やって損はないゲームだと言えます。

An excellent metroidvania, featuring a beautiful and intricate map to explore and plenty of challenges. Derivative of Castlevania Symphony of the Night and its successors, but that is the whole point. Better in my opinion than the Castlevanias for GBA and DS, a true successor to SOTN. Runs well on older/more limited hardware while still looking quite good.
