This is a gorgeous game with absolutely stellar pixel art and a fantastic soundtrack. The story and lore are surprisingly deep, and the Metroidvania gameplay is solid, taking you through a variety of interesting and well-designed environments. I played Owlboy across a Steam Deck, a Windows 11 laptop, and a CachyOS PC, and it ran flawlessly on all three. However, it's not without its flaws. The dialogue can be a bit cheesy at times, and the controls and camera can feel wonky. Also, be warned: if you're a completionist, the minigame required to get 100% of the achievements is incredibly annoying. Overall, it's a memorable experience that's well worth playing, even if you decide to skip the achievement hunt.

One of the most excellently drawn games of the metroidvania genre, with beautiful sprites and backgrounds, as well as great writing and an excellent world that felt wonderful to experience. It even has a soundtrack that continuously surpassed my expectations with great synths and violins Unfortunately, this game has problems. The level design skews from either fun and simple, to tedious and simple, with some areas feeling monotonous or annoying. While the setpieces are interesting, the puzzles are almost all too easy to solve, and the enemy variety and stealth sections leave a lot to be desired. The game doesn't feel very metroidy either, as there really isn't much reason to backtrack. While the world is connected, I wouldn't expect anyone who has played games like Blasphemous or Hollow Knight to be impressed with the world layout. The lack of a dedicated map, fast travel and a few bugs here and there also leave the map somewhat frustrating to navigate. I imagine that this is due to having a flying protagonist, making a lot of the typical modes of progression for the genre impossible to implement. Despite these complaints, I still want to state that this game is worth buying. If you ever see this on sale, in a bundle, or have it on a friend's library, please spring to try it. I think it's even worth it full price, just for the art and soundtrack alone. I rate this game a 6/10 and I hope that more people try it out.

Owlboy is a hidden indie gem. Yeah, the combat system is simple and the story isn't particularly gripping, but I still love this game. The highly detailed pixel art and hearing Dunkey praise the game in his best of 2016 list is what made me interested in this title. Owlboy's art direction reminded me of the old Nitrome browser games I played as a kid which gave me a sense of whimsy each time I booted up the game. Playing through each act of the game as the world opened up felt really cozy. Getting to see more of the game's stellar pixel-perfect presentation was a treat. I will say that the lack of a map made things tedious for gathering collectibles needed for 100% completion, but apart from that I don't have any other major complaints. I recommend picking this up on sale when available.

Z Owlboyem mam problem. Z jednej strony mamy przepiękny pixelart, nie głupią grywalność, i lore... Lore z olbrzymim potencjałem, który niestety jest niewykorzystany, a historia została opowiedziana trochę bez pomysłu - miałem wrażenie ciągłej luki fabularnej. Nie mniej, jeśli szukasz czegoś na parę dni, zdecydowanie pozycja warta polecenia. 7/10

10小时潦草通关，0成就，硬币也没收集。 除了美术，其它一般吧。（其实美术我也没看出个什么…） 横版过关，空洞后劲太大了，玩了一堆银河城还没过瘾，继续扩大搜索规模，这就是其中一个。 流程短，区域少，剧情平淡无奇，没有地图。 弱战斗，弱跳跳乐。BOSS战也不难。 总体来说是个小品游戏，玩儿完就忘，差评不至于 ，好评也给不出。 就这样，下一个游戏，启动！

First I loved this game. Then I hated it, hated the controls. But the story kept me engaged till the very end. And to think that this kind of cute game would have such ending... I've been sitting in my armchair, completely jaw-dropped. 6.8/10 Otus... :,(
