Twelve Minutes

1 / 8

SUCH a massive letdown. This whole game is a tedious, badly written mess. The endings are very unsatisfying, the plot twists are bad, and the game design is confusing and often accounts only for one option that doesn't even make sense, and that you need to wait 5 minutes to try again. If you're looking for well-made time-loop puzzle games, try playing Outer Wilds or The Forgotten City instead. Or read a book. Or stare at a blank wall. Watch grass grow. Anything will respect your time more than this game.

Didn't get boring, no matter how many times I failed. I like that it all takes place in this one apartment, your brain maps everything after a few inspections. Works well for the aim of the game. It's not overwhelming and frustrating but it's not too straight forward either. And there're a few good "ah ha" moments and you DO have to think for some of the executions. Great for what it is!

Very awesome story and execution. I loved the passion of the voice acting. All in all - a really great experience, not sure what the other comments are about. Of course you'll have to retry and figure things out, it's a time-loop puzzle.

Conceptually interesting time loop game that is ultimately let down but it's obtuse solutions and not saved by its bonkers twists. Wanted to like it more than I did, but there are way better games in the genre.

The first half was really interesting and I enjoyed the gameplay overall. I was surprised how well the game acknowledged different variations and situations, how a small change in your actions can result in different dialogue even if the end result would remain the same. There were exceptions though for example calling 991 from two different phones still acts as if you called from a singular phone. The story seems to require some interpretation from the player, but despite that I was quite disappointed with the ending. For example the cop and the father both being voiced by Dafoe and also visualing looking similar seems to suggest that not everything is as it seems. The cop might represent the father while the painting in the hallway looks like his study room with the red book being a common theme. Did we actually forget the past and something triggered the recollection of it? I don't know for sure, but despite it all I felt unhappy with the story as a whole. I would love to play another similar game, with similar gameplay, but different story because that part of the game was something I enjoyed. TLDR: Fun gameplay, not so fun story.
