Simply the best start for a trilogy ever made. Filled with good story, captivating lore and exciting gameplay, this was the start of the greatest series ever made. Too bad bioware no longer makes games like these, so savor the old and have hope for the new.

This isn't a fair review as I barely played any of the game, but what little I did play told me this wasn't the game for me. The story seems interesting, but the gameplay seems tedious and confusing. I understand that this is nearly 20 years old now, but I'm not interested in micromanaging teammates. I'm also not a fan of shooters. I saw RPG and good story and said I'll try, but this seems like something I would enjoy better as a youtube video on my other monitor while I played something else. I'm sure thew game is fantastic for those who like this kind of thing, but it's not for me.

Mass Effect 1 is a technically broken and janky (mostly in the entertaining way, see: High Explosive Ammunition) game with some interesting writing and novel enough concepts for its time. It holds up alright mechanically and, in spite of some OpenAL32 related crashes and other UX issues it's mostly fine in spite of the leveling system being rather shallow and money being free. It's not bioware's finest RPG but it is enjoyable enough, Husks are disgustingly overpowered and annoying/10.

Хотів би я, зіграти в Mass Effect, немов вперше. Познайомився я із цією серією, завдяки своєму другові, я часто приходив до нього, ще коли був малим, і бачив як він грав в mass effect. Це була Цитадель, ще тоді, я і подумати не міг. Що перепроходитиму Mass Effect раз в рік, чи два. Чудова захоплива пригода, командира Шепарда. Де ми самі, стаємо Шепардом. For me this was a bad purchase. My Qualifiers are in the original game I hated first game way way too grindy and Never ever even in game 2 drive any vehicles too wonky at controls, I used the comics for choices loaded game 3 with Mods that gave me enough war credits through a reporter file mod and played. This is a brilliant graphic presentation summery of that save you do have to play it all so I say Not For ME

I should have gotten the legendary edition, I did not know that had all three games. The first Mass Effect is a masterpiece, it has a masterful plot with spectacular world building. It set the gold standard for an rpg for me, and I was positively surprised when I enjoyed the second even more.
